We dropped into Restaurant Depot today while out running errands. It'd been on my list for quite some time, but today found me in the neighborhood and with the time on my hands. Plenty of stuff to shop for, both food and hard goods. Prices seems mostly cheaper that the Sams/Costco tiers, with some being more but mostly being less. Staff were really friendly and explained the membership options to us. The place was squeaky clean and well organized, despite the amount of stock being shelved. Wow. I don't even have words to describe how awful my experience was today, but I'll do my best. I signed up online for a membership and brought in the requested documents to have my membership card printed before I shopped. Upon arriving, the manager checked my documents, and informed me that there was a problem with the card printer. He said I could go ahead and shop using the barcode.I was given via email after signing up for the membership online. The barcode was all I needed to get in the store and check out anyway, but if I wanted a printed card, I could request it the next time I returned. Okay, no problem. As it's the first day of the month, there are new sales and deals, but apparently those aren't updated in real time. I had no idea what the prices would be for several items because the previous month's price was still listed. But, it's 7 am on a Saturday, so I can deal. No problem. Going to check out was another new experience. I didn't realize helping the cashier was off-limits. As I usually do at a check out, I proceeded to group the items together, trying to make them easy to count. As the cashier started to scan my strawberries, I told her I had two packs, at which point she informed me that she was perfectly capable of doing it all, and that I should go stand out of the way. OK, no problem. As I was leaving, the manager who had helped me when I first arrived informed me that the card printer was now working and I could go back by the customer service desk to have it printed before leaving. This is where my encounter went from. "OK this place is just a little nuanced" to "why in the world did I even bother getting this membership and why would I ever return?" The woman behind the desk (name pronounced Dajanelle, uncertain of spelling) asked me what I needed. I informed her that I needed to get my membership card printed, that the gentleman from before said the printer wasn't working then but is now functioning so I could get it before I left. The next 10 minutes were filled with confusing instructions and unclear questions from her that I couldn't answer to her satisfaction such that she informed that I was clearly confused and had no idea what she's talking about (ya think?!). She even went so far as to tell me that she is the secretary and the man who helped me before is "just a manager and has no idea what in the world he's doing anyway". I told her I had frozen and refrigerated items that I needed to get home and asked if I could just do the card the next time I return, since I've already checked out (and obviously don't even need the cad anyway). She insisted that was impossible and I was required to stay and fill out more paperwork (same stuff you fill out online no less). Willfully obstinant, petulant, and rude would sum up her behavior this morning. The prices for food items are on par with Costco and the restaurant supplies are priced similarly to Metro Restaurant Supply which is just a few blocks away (no membership needed). Both of those establishments actually appreciate their customers and treat them like they're welcome which sincerely begs the question of why I would ever go back here. DO NOT COME HERE. I usually go shopping at Costco or Sam's, but because of a recent catering video I watched, I decided to check Restaurant Depot out. Don't get me wrong, the prices were "cheap." Well, that's what I thought when I was buying crawfish, hoisin sauce, and cranberries. I bought 5 items in total (hoisin sauce, dried cranberries, basmati rice, Black Forest ham, and crawfish.) However, out of the five items I bought, 3 of them were charged higher than the prices that were listed. The crawfish I bought were supposed to be $10.50 and were charged $7 more. The hoisin sauce was supposed to be $6.98 but was charged a dollar higher. Then the dried cranberries were supposed to be $6.98 as well, but I was charged 9.89 instead. Along with the up-charge, the customer service was dread awful. In fact, the only nice thing about this place were the other customers. Every time I come here now I would have a small superstition that the prices would be misleading. However, I do not want to deal with that trouble, so this was my first time coming here and I will not be back. read more

When I first learned Oklahoma got a Restaurant Depot, I actually jumped for five minutes because I never expected this state to get one. After numerous visits, I think now is the right time to finally write a review. But before I do, I would like to inform anyone who may not be aware of how to shop here that you do NOT have to be restaurant owner to sign up for [free!] membership. As long as you (or someone you know) are/is a business owner or non-profit organization, signing up is somewhat easy. Just bring tax info and someone at customer service will help you out and they will give several membership "cards" (the one you attach to keychains) the same day. I've only been to one other Restaurant Depot, which was on the East Coast, and the products offered are of course different because every state has different tastes and needs. As the previous reviewer has stated, maybe it is due to the fact that the market is smaller here, but there are some products I wish were sold here but probably won't be. Prices are not that amazing, but if you consider in the fact that almost all purchases made here are sales tax-free, it's not that big of a deal. And despite the product selection compared to other locations, it is still much more vast and higher quality than whatever is offered at US Foods Chef'Store. Speaking of vast, it can be overwhelming when visiting the first time. Make sure you have enough space in your car and refrigerators/freezers. Since their main customer base is of course restaurant owners, it is crucial to shop with utmost preparedness beforehand for regular consumers. Also, bring a coat, because the meat/produce/dairy/frozen foods section is huge and it will take awhile to look at all the great quality meats and vegetables. While they do provide coats for customers, it's better to just bring your own because depending on the time of day you go, there won't be extras lying around. My main problem with Restaurant Depot though is their extremely slow checkout process. You really need to count your items before the cashier does because depending on the person, they usually miscount and it takes forever to fix their mistake. If there is some way for them to improve this, I'll add the last star in my review. While I still go to several different markets and wholesale clubs for my basic needs, Restaurant Depot is part of my shopping list because their meats and produce are great and god knows it's nice to shop without having to pay sales tax. And if you're lucky, you can also get great deals on not-so-fresh-but-still-edible produce. They will usually be marked, but make sure to show the cashier or they'll think it's regular price. When I first started shopping at Restaurant Depot, there weren't that many customers, but I now see more and more restaurant owners shop for their supplies here, which makes me happy for some reason. I hope more OKCers(?) will learn about this great place and hopefully the product selection will continue to improve. read more

Don't waste your time or money coming to this place!!! The lady at the front is so rude! Her attitude alone will be the main reason I won't return! They need to hire better staff! Where is the customer service??? Not to mention right next to where the unload all the food is a pond of maggots and trash... you want to eat food coming from here???? Don't do it!!!!!!! read more

Best place to go for bulk product! Really nice facility and staff is easy to work with.
