We shop here because we don't have options. Unfortunately, the location feels a bit beat down. Prior to COVID it didn't feel so depressed. I can only imagine how tough it must be. The staff isn't very friendly or helpful. The shelves are frequently empty. The prices are hard to find and often missing. Recently we are always charged incorrectly and need to double check our own receipt prior to leaving. Once you leave, they don't pick up the phone if you try to call and if you take the receipt back in, they aren't helpful to resolve the issue. We purchase the food for serving the homeless shelter dinner. If we had options, we would consider them instead. read more

After waiting in line, I was told to get a day pass at customer service. Staff seemed irritated, not welcoming. When I returned, the line was longer and no one offered help--until one employee said I could check out without waiting again. Then a cashier named Christian started yelling at me and her coworkers, handled my items aggressively, and gave the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Genuinely the worst service I've received my entire life. I was there with my dad on Thursday. He opened the box THAT HE WAS GOING TO PURCHASE!! We've had issues in the past where the raw meat we purchased had less in the box than it was labeled. The quality is great. However after he placed it in the cart, an employee caused a scene. He started yelling at my dad, put his hands on him, and wouldn't listen to the manager that kept telling the employee to leave my father alone. I have worked in retail for 5+ years, and the idea of putting my hands on a customer for slightly opening a box that they were going to purchase is insane. I always get good service here, like ALWAYS. Usually someone asks if I need help after they see me looking around with my mouth open like a Neanderthal. The amount of help you should expect is similar to a Sam's Club. They are rarely out of stock of what I need. It is an enjoyable place to shop. read more

Customer service: 0 start I was overcharged on one of my recent orders. I understand, mistake can happen, what's important is how we correct the mistake. I called as soon as I got home and was told the manger will look at the camera and if it's correct will issue me a refund on the same day. Nothing happened that day. Nor for the next few days. I called again, then was told, oh, actually you need to come to the store. No worries, drove for 30 mins ans went to the store. And git so much attitude when talked to the employees! After waiting for 10 mins, I was given a store credit! And was told if you want your money, go to the register. Long lines and so many shopping carts waiting for the registers. I went to a lady who was just standing there explaining the situation and asked if inhave to wait in the line , she said yes. I said I amd here for an employee mistake why should I wait again in the line? She said because you have to wait in the line!!!!! Even though there were other registers with no employees at! I almost never leave reviews for anything, but feel compelled to share this with others who may be planning to shop at Restaurant Depot. This was the worst buying experience ever - at both the Brooklyn Center location and the Como Ave location - all on the same day. I have been a member of Restaurant Depot since 2022 and since have had generally positive experiences. I live approximately 3.5 hours from the Twin Cities, and my supply trips are usually a special trip - about a 9 hour time investment for me plus the cost of transportation. FIRST: August 28, 2023 I first visited the Brooklyn Center location to purchase melting chocolate. My first stop was the front desk where I needed to drop off some paperwork. The lady there found fault with everything I brought (which was simply my food license and my state sales tax certificate). She told me that I had brought a federal number and not a state number and I had to show her on two separate documents - the certificate itself and an accompanying email - that it was indeed my state sales tax number. Then she asked about the nature of my business but not listening to my answers. I started to feel like she didn't want to help me be able to shop. Even though the copy of my license was clear and legible, she made me write my information down on a separate piece of paper because she claimed she couldn't read it. When she offered a copy of the tax form for me to sign, she had spelled my city and my name incorrectly. I asked her if those things needed to be corrected before I signed it and she made the corrections but was unhappy about it. In the end, I don't believe she properly categorized my business on the form - but I was done trying to give her information because nothing I told her seemed to matter. Once she told me I could shop, I thought - okay, maybe she's having a bad day, let it go. Next I went looking for the chocolate I needed to buy - that I have successfully purchased at Restaurant Depot in the past with no issues and even great customer service. I found it right away - but couldn't see any of the type I needed on the shelf so I sought help. When I told the employee down the aisle what I was looking for he cut me off before I could ask my question and just told me "Aisle 2". I started to tell him that no, the chocolate was just down the aisle we were in (Aisle 3) and again he cut me off and said "Aisle 2." I walked away because there was obviously nothing more I could say about this, then walked all the way through Aisle 2 (and found no chocolate), and came back to the chocolate on the shelf in Aisle 3. I found another employee near the checkouts and explained to her that I was looking for a product that was not on the shelf but that could simply need to be dropped from a pallet above. I asked if they could look up in their inventory to see if they had what I was looking for as that had been my experience on other buying trips. She was friendly and helpful. She asked another employee if she could look this up and that employee said to her "Do I look like a manager? You need to go ask a manager. I don't get paid to do that." I was blown away and I'd had it. I stated, "Look, I just drove 3.5 hours to be here and get supplies for my business. I simply want help locating an item here. If you don't have it, I will move on to the Como Ave store and look there." The second employee tried to defend her comments and I said that I didn't want to listen her rip down a coworker and that I just wanted assistance finding my items. A man came up then and asked me how he could help. He clearly wanted to calm the situation down and be helpful. He looked on a computer for the items I was looking for, but didn't seem to find a conclusive answer. He had us walk with him back to Aisle 3 and proceeded to holler at the same guy who sent me to Aisle 2 earlier to come and help. That guy wouldn't even acknowledge him. After 3 to 4 minutes of watching more nothing happen, I walked out. I appreciate the friendly person and the guy at the end trying to help - but the problems at this location are way too deep for one or two helpful people to hold together. Thirty minutes later I arrived at the Como Ave store to try again. I found a case of one of the items I needed, but not the other - so I sought assistance again. This experience was somewhat better than the Brooklyn Center location - but still lacked a lot. It's obvious that these locations are severely understaffed and the staff there are not in love with their jobs and have little customer service training. There is so much good food products at this warehouse - and honestly - if I'm willing to drive 3.5 hours to purchase melting chocolate for my business - the price must be right. At this point, I still need to purchase the variety of chocolate that I could not purchase yesterday - so I will need to search online and see what I can do to have it shipped to me. I think this is the first review I've ever written in my life. I own a business as a Private Chef. I travel the country and the World for that matter. I have been a Restaurant Depot Member since 2014. I've visited locations in Sacramento CA, Oakland CA, Los Angeles CA, and Houston Texas just to name a few. The location in ST. Paul Minnesota is deplorable. It starts as soon as you pull into the parking lot with filth a those oblong shopping carts everywhere within the lot. You can just tell the store is not managed well. The aisles or in constant disarray and each and every employee looks & shows with their energy that they do not want to be there. It's honestly the saddest thing I've ever seen. I hope they can get some new management in there to at least bring it up to a respectable level for us business owners. read more

The setup is eerily Walmart. The staff here are short on small talk with you, but quick to answer any questions that you may have. I like that they employ people from the area. The selection is nice. Sometimes they run out of seafood items. Their produce selection is just ok. Very basic stuff. As the other review noted, the prices for produce here is shaky and often beat by Costco/Sam's Club. The deals for meat are excellent. You get value. Must fill out an application for a membership card to shop here. Membership here is free. Federal Tax ID is required. read more

This place need to go, like go out of Business. Horrible management which lead to horrible customer service. Especially the cashiers. Beware of the big Caucasian lady, she will steal your money by up-charging you and making you pay for more than what you should be paying for. This happened more than once. Then there's an old ghost rider lady on a lift that will run you over and yell at you, she will come at you without any alerts*. The sales floor members are all crappy, so don't bother asking them for anything, I learn it the hard way. Tried talking to the managers about their Billing Abuse and they just sat there and laughed. Canceling my membership today, this had gone far too long. No hope of improvements to this facility, better off with a different wholesale location. read more

Absolutely The worst customer experience I have ever encountered! First time shopping there for my business. Went around 11am today. Walked in and saw there was a sign stating " deaf employee working please use your phone to communicate" so I typed up a message asking if I needed a membership. And the employee said " come over here I can't see that it's so tiny and dark. I apologized and referenced the sign, as she was not deaf. Asked the employee my questions about needing a membership and she informed me about being open to the public and asked for my ID for stopping in today. She had me fill out my information where she stated " fill out line 33" which I assumed was the next available line. ( It wasn't so I own my mistake for not looking closely enough). Gave back the clipboard and she looks at it then looks at me " Well now you didn't do what I asked! I said fill out line 33" I apologized and then she said " your address doesn't match your ID!" Which I explained the address I wrote down was my business address. She gave me my temporary pass and my ID and told me about the return policy that what ever I buy today is mine forever, they aren't accepting returns. Quite literally was the rudest customer service I have ever experienced and made me decide not to purchase anything. What happened to this place?? I was a frequent buyer 10 years ago. It was always a fun trip. Warehouse style but well organized and well stocked and helpful, plentiful staff. Yesterday (1/19/2022) it was shocking. It looked like a war zone. Empty shelves and trashed. Three employees in the entire place and they did not seem enthusiastic or helpful. I will not diss them too much because if I had to work there I would not feel too pleasant either. The experience scared me. What has changed so much that a successful, well run business is now a shell-shocked husk of a building? (and I was overcharged by about 15$) read more

We were in restaurant depot today. On our way back to the car, we thought our bill seemed a little high. We saw that one of the item we bought that was on clearance, wasn't discounted. Not a big deal, so we went back in to get an adjustment. The lady that helped us was very rude and unprofessional. When we told her that the item wasn't discounted, she snapped back that if the item hadn't been upside down, we would have gotten the discount. She's not the one that checked us out, so I'm not sure how she knew if the item was upside down or not. We shop here quite often, and usually have amazing service. Love this location compared to the other since its members only unlike the other site. this site seems more organized and product much easier to identify and locate than the other site. i have been to both many times and think that yes customer service could be better at both but i also understand that the one thing most people don't get is that is for bulk shopping for restaurants and the person that comes in thinking its sam's or Costco with a million questions i frankly would get tired of answering the repeat questions on what this means or that means. if you need bulk meats or dairy or produce by all means get it here just know bulk means bulk get 40lbs case of chicken and no they cant split it! over all love this place there is almost nothing you cannot find here! only four stars because bc does not have a members only line! read more

I shopped here in BC location and had hard time finding things. I was helped by a man name Queso he was amazing. Despite having to deal with an extremely rude and damn near verbally abusive customer before me, He still remained Helpful friendly calm and even humorous making my first experience here a pleasant one. I will tell everyone I know about your store. Keep up the good work guys. That guy Queso is a keeper. Shop wasn't the cleanest place the parking lot is a mess. This store led me on the most EPIC SAGA of horrifically bad customer service in the history of stores. I have needed something that wasn't out on the shelf 2 times while shopping here, and I have had 2 experiences that were so far beyond bad that I actually left the store shaking with rage and confusion. I needed a specific meal container and was in a pinch to get it for work packaging, it wasn't on the shelf so I went to the front of the store and asked a cashier if they could check if they have any. She walked off for about 30 seconds, then came back and told me someone would bring it to the front. I stood there like a total jerkoff for 30+ minutes, while she rang people and completely ignored the person standing there waiting on something she said would come. I finally cracked and asked her what was up, she told me to go back and see if they had brought some down without telling us. NOPE, so I went back up and told her nothing had happened. She walked over to someone who looked like a manager and he said something into a walkie-talkie. The cashier said literally nothing to me about what was about to happen, so I stood there for another 20 minutes waiting for something that would never come, because NOBODY WAS GETTING IT. I then walked back to the area where the boxes should have been and found someone stocking a shelf, she said something into a walkie talkie (nobody even responded) then said she'd check the computer, at which point she disappeared permanently. I finally got the box by locating the palate myself, then going in the back room and finding a guy with a forklift and having him get it for me. The second experience happened today and was pretty much the same as the first one, thus inspiring the one star review on yelp. I was actually somewhat traumatized after the first experience, like it actually messed me up having that many people tell me they would do something then just disappear and leave me to wonder if they were actually doing anything. Pretty much a huge warehouse store for restaurants to shop...they sell everything in bulk here at a very decent price. This store focuses on food prep products rather than actual commercial products in bulk. Service used to be terrible but they've really improved over the past year. They always have what I need in stock so i can appreciate them for being on top of their inventory. The ladies at the front counter can get a little crabby if you request a guest pass. If you are planning to buy fresh produce, bring a jacket because it's freezing in the giant fridge. Parking is on site. read more
