Nice, casual spot for Indian food on one of the main roads of Grindelwald with tables both indoors and outdoors. We chose this spot because it was one of the more affordable dinner options and appreciated the quick, friendly service. Everything tasted good and they're one of only two restaurants on our whole trip who didn't charge for tap water (major perk). It is quite a ways out from the train station, about 10 'min walk with a little bit of an incline but was an easy one. We were a little hesitant when we got there as there was only a table occupied. But not for long the place got quite full. The place was cozy. We were greeted and seated right away. We were so hungry and ordered a few dishes for sharing. We started with fish pakora as appetizer. That was good. We wanted samosa but they only had vegetable filling. We ordered butter chicken and mixed vegetable curry. We were told that each of the main courses came with rice. But we really wanted the lamb biryani so we just ordered one and left with 2 servings of rice to go. The food was very good. The service was excellent. This was a wonderful dining experience. Amazing views matched with amazing food. We were seated outside and our view of the town was the best most serene experience. Everyone in my group loved their food. I ordered the samosa and butter chicken and it was perfect, paired with the butter garlic naan. Biggest scam ever!! The server was the rudest and most pathetic guy EVER!! I wish I could give negative stars to this place for its food as well as service. This restaurant's practices are highly deceptive. Despite paneer kadhai not being listed on the menu, the server insisted we go with these options. Without questioning further, we placed the order. Unfortunately, we were charged an exorbitant price of 27.50 for paneer curry. When I questioned the server about the inflated cost, they responded rudely, suggesting I should be thankful they even made the curry. It's advisable to steer where they manipulate prices at their discretion and exhibit extreme rude behavior. What an idiotic server. What a wondefully unexpected surprise! We stumbled upon this restaurant during our trip to Grindelwald, and are absolutely satisfied with our delicious meal! We started with the Chicken Soup, a brothy tomato and spiced soup with lots of small pieces of chicken. Then, we had an order of Papadam, Chicken Tikka, and Navrattan Korma. Each dish was extremely flavorful, food was prepared and served fresh and timely. My wife and I are both gluten free, and the owner of the restaurant came to our table to ensure us that all our dishes (as well as 95% of their menu) was safe for us. If you are really craving Indian food while in the area this is probably your only option. The chicken Tikka Masala came in possibly the best sauce I've ever had. That being said the portion size was tough split for two people. Plenty of rice just not enough chicken and sauce. Also we ordered the garlic naan which was 6$ (which isn't crazy) but that was the only two pieces of Naan they brought us. Usually you get tons of Naan at Indian food places. Overall the food is on point but the prices and portion sizes aren't exactly a match. read more

We also could not cancel an order as the server said once you put in an order you can't cancel it as system won't allow. We mentioned soon after we placed order. Grindelwald is some of the most gloriously beautiful places on our planet. After a day of hiking around town, we were very hungry and looking for a place that was open and looked good. We saw Golden India was filled with people and decided to walk in. The staff was very accommodating and attentive. We sat in the upper seating which felt upscale and overlooked the rest of the restaurant. The appetizer was some of the best fried fish, and the entrees were also very good. My boyfriend got the chicken tikka masala and I got a curry dish. The curry dishes was one of the best curry dishes I had ever had and I eat a lot of curry! The service at this 'establishment' was a disaster that cannot be overstated. The casual rascism and bigotry towards Americans and Jews was very audible, extremely offensive and completely distastefully. One of the waiters even made a joke about rape!!!!!!!! This was all before a physical altercation occurred between the manager and a member of my party. This was completely his fault as he struck completely unprompted upon a simple request to stop with the offensive comments and slow service. Also the food was mind numbingly horrible!!!! My opinion on that is truly not affected by my emotions or biases but simply due to the objective fact that I gagged upon eating the daal and my stool felt like child birth the next day. We arrived at 11:45 am on a Saturday for lunch and was told they open at Noon even though their sign (including winter season) clearly says open at 11:30. Okay... not great first impression but I thought perhaps it was my loud son that deter their decision to have us wait outside for 15 minutes... Shortly after, another couple stopped by in front to look at the menu and the guy then came out and told us we could wait inside. We held off few minutes until my son finished making his snowman. We placed our order which included butter chicken recommended by our waitress for young kids that is unable to tolerate spicy food. Very satisfying after a day of outdoor activity! I expect to have to settle a little bit when I'm in a little vacation village, but this was as good as any of my favorites. I had the chana masala and navratan curry; both were great. Servers were excellent, but the restaurant was a bit busy for the amount of wait staff attending, so some parts were a little slower than I'd like. And of course it is mountain prices. The service was unbelievably slow, and the waiter repeated refused to put in our order despite us telling him that we were in a hurry. When we asked if our food could be made take away, the owner came out and told us we were being disrespectful and asked us to leave. We were there on a Friday evening with two kids (7, 10). The staff was very friendly, in particular the manager, Mandeep. He advised exceptionally well on our selection and got a kick out of our younger, who really likes hot food. He even provided some hot tasters to see how far he could take it... Great find! After a full day of skiing we were famished. An Indian restaurant in the middle of Switzerland is unexpected, but the food and service were impeccable. We had drinks at the bar (reasonable price), appetizers, and dinner. Our server was attentive (food allergies) and genuine - couldn't have felt more welcome.
