Chicken tikka masala, cheese and butter naan, fish stew curry, rice

I'm a pretty huge fan of Spice Village here in Interlaken. There's quite a bit of competition in the city for authentic Indian restaurants, with one of the biggest competitors standing right across the street. I'm glad we choose Spice Village. The prices are good, the food is delicious, and the staff is very friendly. Be careful if you choose this restaurant over the one across - if you sit outside, the owner will eye you for a bit! LOL For appetizer we ordered the samosas - you get two. They were so delicious and crispy. These are definitely a must-order! For entree I had the fish stew curry (comes with rice) and got it extra spicy. I am obsessed with their fish curry and this was the first time I was aware that Indian food even included salmon. This was the first Indian restaurant I stopped at during my Europe trip and it inspired me to get more Indian food (and seafood) along the way. The cheese naan here is also GREAT. So tasty. It's basically like a little mini cheese pizza. My friend had never tried Indian food before she came to Spice Village and she had an amazing experience! I highly recommend Spice Village as the go-to Indian restaurant in Interlaken.

See how fast it's getting over? Amazingly good Indian food in Interlaken.

Yelp Review 2026 #120:…read more Still not in the mood to eat Swiss food again, I saw this highly rated restaurant on two review sites. It's a 10-minute walk from my hotel. There's no tram or train that will take you here. I'm following directions from Google Maps and it was taking me to a trailer park. It doesn't matter which country you visit - a trailer park is a trailer park - it's the same crowd of people. Am I lost? Should I turn around and go somewhere else? I finally found the restaurant. It's a small restaurant but you can sit outside for more tables if you feel claustrophobic. The staff is very welcoming. The menu has all the Indian food classics. I went with my go-to dishes. CHICKEN MASALA: Chicken chunks simmered in creamy tomato and chopped onion sauce until tender, garnished with coriander. 4/5 BUTTER CHICKEN (HOUSE SPECIALTY): Cooked chicken tikka simmered in rich and creamy tomato sauce, perfumed with butter and fenugreek. 4/5 GARLIC NAAN: Warm naan schmeared with ghee and fresh garlic paste. 4/5 MANGO LASSI: Mildly tart, creamy mango drink that helps tone down the spiciness of Indian food. 4/5 The food was ok. But the best part was the service. After our meal, they offered to take us back to our hotel using their shuttle.

The service was warm, attentive, and efficient, making sure everyone at our table was well taken care of. It's not always easy to accommodate a large group so seamlessly, but they did an excellent job. Highly recommend India Village for great Indian food and outstanding hospitality. We'll definitely be back!

The order is taken here, but the food order is placed across the street and comes from across the street. Also a very casual environment. Service: Overall appears friendly and responsive, no problem with the person themselves. Seems like it may be run by one person outside of the kitchen. Food: - Naan: CHF 5.00. Might have been one of the worst naan I've ever had in my life. It didn't really taste like naan. It was dry, not crispy, and it didn't even taste like the proper dough. - Rice: CHF 6.00. Pretty bad, plain, and not cooked well. Pretty egregious pricing too. A little confusing if they charge different people different prices for the rice based on reviews, too. - Matar paneer: Not bad, but pretty average.

The restaurant itself is very small with about six tables. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Note that the five star rating above is for the food. The facilities get three stars. We had four people who each ordered different dishes. I had the chicken tikka masala and my wife had a vegetarian dish. We also ordered a paneer dish and one other. Rice is included with each dish at no additional cost. We all voted on how we would rate the food and all of us gave it a five.
