Food was just okay, very over priced. I got the chicken with vegetables and it was a lot more veggies than chicken for sure. That said, I was starving and it did this did the trick when everything else was full. Service was ok. A couple of guys kept circling about and trying to get people to come in. I'm a pretty huge fan of Spice Village here in Interlaken. There's quite a bit of competition in the city for authentic Indian restaurants, with one of the biggest competitors standing right across the street. I'm glad we choose Spice Village. The prices are good, the food is delicious, and the staff is very friendly. Be careful if you choose this restaurant over the one across - if you sit outside, the owner will eye you for a bit! LOL For appetizer we ordered the samosas - you get two. They were so delicious and crispy. These are definitely a must-order! For entree I had the fish stew curry (comes with rice) and got it extra spicy. I am obsessed with their fish curry and this was the first time I was aware that Indian food even included salmon. This was the first Indian restaurant I stopped at during my Europe trip and it inspired me to get more Indian food (and seafood) along the way. The cheese naan here is also GREAT. So tasty. It's basically like a little mini cheese pizza. My friend had never tried Indian food before she came to Spice Village and she had an amazing experience! First of all, none of the employees wore a mask during the whole time when we dined in there! And he was talking as he was bringing in our food and drinks, I was so worried about the spread of covid and was praying he's a healthy individual. God bless! Second, the food was good but too salty. When we ordered the chicken tikka masala, he didn't even bring us the white rice dish that came with it. My feelings were that they were being cheap and thought two Asian girls wouldn't be able to finish two rich dishes so they didn't give us the white rice until I asked and he looked surprised that we wanted more rice! I mean the dish was too heavy to eat on its own or to go with the lamb biryani, which was already too salty. And when he brought us the white rice, it was a lot smaller in portion compared to the white rices the two tables next to us. I mean what was that???? Both the Chicken tikka masala and lamb biryani tasted good though on the salty side for us. The garlic nan was not good at all as in like the garlic was brushed on the bread after the bread was done and there was no garlic flavor cooked in the nan at all, I was surprised they messed up garlic nan. They had five or six creepy men luring people into the restaurant off the street, we were hungry and had just finished a hike so we gave in. Prices were absurd (35 USD for all plates, which were small). Waited over 30 minutes for tikka masala. There is no way in hell the meat they gave us was chicken. Rubbery and tasteless, sauce more like marinara than anything. Literally left and got a mcchicken because the food was inedible. Garlic naan was thin, had the texture of a potato chip, was tasteless, and had an odd green color. Had to ask for the check FOUR times. Manager strolled around with it in his pocket for another half hour. We left immediately remarking upon how we just had the worst dining experience of our lives. Horrible horrible service. We came from California and saw this place looked packed so wanted to give it a try since our hotel was next door.. when we entered no one was attending us then finally some lady came up to use telling us to sit down on a DIRTY table not cleaned at all. We had to ask them to clean it and asked for menus they only gave us 1 We were waiting in there for at least 15 minutes trying to get someone to take our order and no one did they barely had 1 person working they had at least 30 people inside with only 1 person taking orders? Horrible service We gave up and walked out and went to the Indian restaurant down the street which was amazing I don't recommend coming here especially if your a tot they don't care read more

As I write now, eight hours after my unmitigated disaster of an experience at Spice Village, I am STILL deep in the throes of a stomach pain experience that can only be described at excruciating. I am bloated, nauseous, and completely miserable. This pain is the morose culmination of what was truly the worst culinary moment of my life. Let me explain further. My brother and I had just spent the morning hiking a steep uphill and were starved for a nice plate of chicken tikka massala. Having seen lots of Indian restaurants around, we had a very specific hankering, and were quickly convinced by the strange man frantically offering us seats that Spice Village was the place to be. We were a bit taken aback by the INSANE prices - 30 franks for a single small entree - but our hunger and exhaustion got the better of us and we set about ordering ourselves some chicken. We waited for more than thirty minutes before the food finally showed up, and were immediately disappointed. We could tell from the smell alone that this was no run-of-the mill tikka. Digging in confirmed our suspicions. The sauce was over-acidic and tomatoey; it was disgusting. The chicken wasn't chicken at all, but some sort of rubbery synthetic cube material that felt slimy on the way down. The rice was... fine. My brother, incensed, got up from the table and bought a McChicken. We then proceeded to wait for another half an hour for the check, which never came. We asked for the check three times, and each time the server would nod, disappear inside, and then come back out a few minutes later - without the check. This was bizarre, I've never seen anything like it. To cap it all off, we finally cornered a manager and asked him for the check, and the man pulled it out of his pocket; he'd had it on him the whole time. So we left, having lost over a hundred franks and almost two hours of our time. This was when my stomach began to grumble, and I promptly vomited in a public bathroom. These guys are scammers, not cooks. Their intention is to screw you, not to feed you. Do not, I repeat, do NOT go to this restaurant. read more

The food here was delicious: butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and rice (of course), split between 3 people. Plenty of food. Butter chicken was everyone's favorite! The owner was extremely friendly and welcoming, sitting us down a few minutes before 10pm, after El Azteca across the street refused to. He was very attentive and even gave us our two rice dishes for free (really kind, especially to three students weekend traveling on a budget.) Would totally recommend eating here! read more

I don't ever write reviews, but I had to for this. This restaurant has the best Indian/Pakistani food! Their food is also halal. They have options for traditional food but also burgers and stuff. Everything we ordered was just cooked perfectly and tasted amazing! The service was beyond expectations!! I asked if they had coke in a glass bottle (the only kind of soda I will ever waste calories drinking) and they didn't so I told them that's okay, but the waiter even offered to get me one from the restaurant next door which I told him he didn't need to. The fact that he offered so I could enjoy it with my food meant a lot! We ordered biryani, chicken tikka masala, naan, paratha, and roti which were all so good - my husband and I finished everything which was us over eating but we could not stop!! read more
