This was DELICIOUS. Some of the best food I've had in Bavaria so far. The spaetzle took me back to being a little girl and the roast beef could not have been more perfectly cooked. My husband loved his trio (Bavarian creamy cheese, sausage salad, and pan fried potatoes). We are staying in the hotel and had a later tour at the castle so this was a perfect place to stop after for some food. The food is pricier- it's definitely a nice dinner- but very casual inside and worth it if you're looking for a good meal. Service was very friendly and kind- just a bit slow because they were so busy but very enjoyable nonetheless.Highly recommend! read more

We found this hotel through Trip Advisor in Fussen(which is a good home base to see the famous castles of Bavaria). Hotel Hirsch happens to have a Bierstube that turned out to be a pleasant surprise. A very attentive staff, a fantastic German beer selection along with a really good wine list. Most of all, the German dinner cuisine has been our favorite so far considering our journey has taken us from Munich, to Salzburg, Aus. and now to Fussen. We highly recommend a stop here where we felt right at home. read more

arrived to Hirsch Hotel late Sunday evening, and were lucky because restaurant was still open! Lady at Reception suggested to get dinner with traditional bavarian goose, which is very popular at mid October! And it was very very delicious with red cabbage! and local lager beer paired with meal perfectly read more

Excellent spot, with friendly, attentive service. We ate in front room rather than the main dining area but enjoyed good. The pork two ways was excellent, and a huge portion. Same with the venison gulasch. Between the venison and the Maultaschen (oversized ravioli), you can get some good German specialties. I'm sure the desserts are good too, but I recommend heading into town: the gelato place on the left hand side of the main drag is incredible. Get the hazelnut. read more

Should have read the earlier post from last year, written in German and didn't know Yelp had a translate function. While the pumpkin soup was good the deer was dry, and tough. The waitress looked at me like it was suppose to be that way... she called over the head waiter listened and took away the food. A few minutes later he came back with more elderberries sauce on it and said that would help!!! For frig sake, that's what people do with A1 sauce on dry tasteless steak. Then he goes about ignoring me for the next 40 min. I'm sitting here typing this, still waiting. Only person left in this part of the dining room. I feel bad for the waitress, she didn't know what to do, prolly not up to her. The waiter on the other hand should be fired. Why is he even in this industry. Freaking another waitress just spoke to me and made it sound like it was my fault for not waving her down specifically. Made excuses for the waiter, that he was busy yet straight up ignored me for 40 min. Now most restaurants are closed or closing. read more

Located in Hotel Hirsch, Restaurant Hirsch was one of our "must eat" restaurants that we planned on way in advance. In fact we made reservations to guarantee seating and thank goodness we did... It apparently is very popular with tourists and locals alike. They offer inside and outside dining, we chose outside since the weather was nice. There are numerous tables located under shade trees and grape vines. We discovered that they have a house dog who roams freely throughout and is friendly. We started with the Gebratene Garnelen appetizer which was pan seared prawns, cream cheese foam, spinach, tomatoes and colored noodles. We also had the Fruhlingsrolle appetizer which was deep fried pancake rolls filled with vegetables and shrimp served on top of a rice noodle salad and comes with a couple of different dipping sauces. Both appetizers were delicious. The fried pancake rolls were a tinge greasy but that should be expected. The main entrée was the Gebratene Maishahnchenbrust which consisted of a pan seared corn fed chicken breast, stuffed with spinach and truffles, cream cheese sauce, tomato leek and polenta. Outstanding! The dessert we shared was the Apfel Topfenstrudel which was an apple cream cheese strudel served with vanilla ice cream. Very sinful but delicious LOL. We washed down the entire meal with one Aperol Spritzer, then multiple Lillet Wild Berry drinks which were super refreshing! (Lillet Blanc, Schwepes wild berry soda with whole blueberries, raspberries, cranberries and strawberry slithers)... The service was excellent, location was perfect (in our hotel) and it's worth the price. read more

This restaurant has a very boring ambience . It maintained the decorum of a upscale restaurant but was not that great in service. The beer which they suggested was not a good one . Also the shrimp noodle was very salty . The shrimps had so much salt that I couldn't complete it. read more

Very much enjoyed our stay at the Hirsch. The room had a funkiness to it one can only get at an independent. Great location for exploring Fussen as well as getting out of town. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Recommended by tour guide extraordinaire, Rick Steves, we agree. A great place to stay when exploring Ludwig's castles and the surrounding mountains. read more

We did not stay at the hotel, but we ate at the restaurant. The service was excellent, and the food was executed perfectly. We were there during Spargelzeit ( asparagus season) and this was the first of many restaurants that we had asparagus at that cooked it just right. The pike and steak dishes were done perfectly. read more

The Cream of Asparagus soup was fantastic. Fried goat cheese was pretty good, but I didn't like the breading; it reminded me of that used on a fish stick. I had the Venison goulash which was tender and delicious. The gravy was very nice and the Spaetzle was nice in the gravy. The kids had fish sticks and the spaghetti bolognese. The mashed potatoes with the fish sticks was good enough that my wife and I ate most of it. The bolognese was very tasty and I'd have eaten that as an adult main. My wife had the pike which was grilled and nicely cooked, but she felt it needed a sauce. They have Hacker-Pschorr on tap. I'd go back again for that venison. read more

The best meal I had in Germany! I lived there for a month and traveled extensively between Berlin, Munich, and southern Bavaria. The ambiance of the small heavily-wooded dining room was cozy and romantic. The service was fantastic and friendly. The food was stellar. It was a chilly night, so I had a hot cocoa with kirschwasser to start. Then, I had a filet mignon with forest mushrooms, cauliflower, and a potato tartlet. My husband and I had an outstanding experience staying at both this hotel and eating in their garden area for dinner. The staff was wonderful, the hotel itself was unexpected and lovely, and everything we ordered at the restaurant was excellent. I had the fried chicken breast with vegetables, my husband the roast beef with bacon wrapped string beans, and we topped it off with apple strudel. The atmosphere of Fussen, and especially the Hotel Hirsch garden patio, was perfect. What a wonderful way to start our road trip up the Romantic Road. read more
