Enjoyed the great smoked salmon on a hard roll with cream cheese and tomatoes every morning. Fantastic coffee and cappuccino to boot! Superb eggs, small pancakes, sausage and bacon along with fresh bread toasted. Nice free wine happy hour on Friday too! Comfortable seating in a large indoor skylit courtyard with plantings and moss walls to make any Biophiliac happy. Not HC accessible and could use railings to get to the kitchen for their breakfast spread is the only negative. Dinner reception for 34 diners was fantastic, best potato starter ever. Chicken was perfectly prepared. Dessert was a feast for the eyes and mouth Service was quick and very helpful and transparent. Price was reasonable for quality and quantity.

Light and delicious. My main was cod with lovely lemon foam, mushrooms and boo choy. Fish was properly done and still moist. The dessert was chocolate mousse w licorice ice cream (v mild tasting so don't be afraid!). Try their organic sodas for non alcoholic diners. I had the Sancerre which was excellent. Highly recommend!

The accompanying potato salad was light and vinegar/olive oil based rather than mayo based, which was a nice contrast to the rich brown butter sauce. Ambiance is super cute, exposed beams and brick, the old Noma spot. Great date night. Waiters were friendly and recommended their cider (specifically made for Barr) which reminded us of a sour + an orange wine. Spaeztle with chanterelle mushrooms was very savory, a little too rich for my liking but my partner loved it. One minor issue we had was the brown crab dish's crab was overpowered by the bitter char on the romaine lettuce, and I thought too little crab per bite.

    The biggest draw here is probably the location. Being in Noma's former space naturally creates…read morecertain expectations, but it's important to walk in understanding that this is not Noma, and the experience doesn't try to be. Overall, we had an enjoyable meal, but nothing truly stood out. The food was good, not great. We ordered the schnitzel, which was perfectly serviceable, but not particularly memorable or elevated in a way that justified the buzz surrounding the restaurant. It felt more like a solid neighborhood meal than a destination dining experience. The service was where the experience fell a bit flat for us. This isn't unique to this restaurant, but we've found much of Scandinavia's dining culture to be less hospitality-driven than what we're accustomed to elsewhere. The staff was polite enough, but there wasn't much warmth, engagement, or effort to create a memorable experience. It felt more transactional--food arrives, you're checked on occasionally, and that's about it. The atmosphere is pleasant, and we certainly didn't leave disappointed. We enjoyed our evening and had a nice meal. That said, given the history of the space and the reputation that comes with it, we left feeling that the experience didn't quite live up to the expectations. Worth a visit if you're curious about the location, but not a place I'd go out of my way to revisit. Four stars.

The food was delicious! I had a stuffed sweet potato, and my husband got the burrito, which was full of beans and salsa, and came with guacamole and a side salad of shredded carrots and cabbage. Lovely grime-y Euro-comfort food with blues on repeat…read more The decor and atmosphere is certainly blues inspired but run by hipsters. It's grime-y in a charming way but stay away if any grime bothers you. It's dingy on the inside with some nice sidewalk seats, but reeks of old cigarettes either way. Lots of folksjust hanging out for some drinks and people watching. For this they had high chairs and baby friendly. The service is great. They give of the air of not GAF but are actually attentive and charming. Food came or relatively quickly on a Friday night which was good with a hungry child. They were happy to explain things on the menu and even suggested a few things for substitution. Funnily everyone comes into the restaurant, loclas and tourirsts alike, acting confused where to sit or if there's a queue and after a dramatic pause the barkeep tells them to sit wherever and right on. The food was good. The menu looks very basic and doesn't do the food justice. The 3 salads accompanying each meal are listed without description or fanfare. You don't know which ones you'll get. We got four different ones in combination for two entrees. Even the chicken satay we ordered for our little one came with two salad sides. Two out of four were great, the others bland. Each salad is about 1/4 of a cup, fairly small. The sesame seaweed with ginger and heirloom tomato salads rocked. The guacamole (really just smash avocados without seasoning) and cabbage salad (no dressing, plain with two honeyed almonds on top) were uninspiring. We got the Manilla tofu and beef lasagna as the main dishes. The Manilla tofu was cooked just right with great sauce and an ample portion of protein compared to your average Nordic experience. The beef lasagna was decadent. It was more reminiscent of mousaka than lasagna, cheesy, pillowy, creamy, and very thin Al dented pasta. Not a whole lot of meat but very flavorful and filling. The drink list was pretty good. I had a nice primotivo for only 55 Kr. Whole bottles are reasonable finds at good prices. They also serve half bottles I'm carafes. Good brew selection too. Prices were fair for the fare. Much less expensive than many surrounding restaurants. Overall, great spot. Good to hang or eat. Not pretentious but just good enoufh food.

At Den Lille Fede, they offer a 5-course and a 7-course meal, both with the option of wine pairings for each course. Since it was a special occasion, we went for the seven course dinner with wine pairings. Though I'm not usually a white wine drinker, favoring bold reds instead, I tasted three white wines that became instant hits because of their complexity, balance of acidity and refreshing minerality, accenting the dish paired with it. A few of the most memorable courses were: umami beans, egg, and truffle; fried hake fish with paper-thin potato slices and roasted malt (even my seafood-avoidant partner said she loved this fish); ribeye and beets with a tangy and savory refined BBQ sauce; and raspberry sorbet with peach and cream. Though it can easily become an expensive evening, especially for traveling Americans and others who aren't used to above-average Scandinavian pricing, I highly recommend Den Lille Fede for a special occasion and the experience of a long meal, vibrant flavors throughout a variety of interesting and beautiful dishes, and the professional and accommodating staff who led us through the meal. Expect to spend between $44 (for 5-course meal with no beverage pairings) to $113 per person (if you get the 7 courses, the wine pairings, and cava and coffee.

Once you find that, it's past the graffiti, up the stairs, and through an unmarked-and-nearly-invisible door behind you. Once you get inside, it's a different world. Giant wooden beams support the ceiling, oil lamps provide gently glowing illumination, and Berkeley / San Francisco-grade hipsters weave between the tables, dropping off plates laden with braised mushrooms, mashed potatoes with leeks, and lamb cutlets. I went for the venison, with whipped potatoes and berry compote. The venison was past tender into soft --- good, but not what I was hoping for. My wife got fish, with a salmon-spinach souffle, some fennel, shrimp, fried potatoes, and a good helping of creamy sauce. We started with a soup --- translated for us as "like carrots, but white," which we think was parsnip --- that was creamy and rich, but still nicely light. The house red wine was good --- but the house white was absolutely amazing. You have to try it. The meals were quite good, but didn't manage to be as memorable as the experience;
