We have been to Restaurant Alloro on previous visits to Luz. It has usually been outstanding. We ate here twice during our vacation this time. We were staying at Baia de Luz where they are located so it was very convenient. The first visit was a bit disappointing. We shared the pappardelle pasta with chicken, mushrooms cream and roasted tomatoes for an appetizer and it was amazing. It was one of the best pastas that I've had. For entrees my husband had the lamb shank and he enjoyed it immensely. I ordered the pork tenderloin and it was dry and overcooked. It came with salad and rice. I sent the pork back as it was inedible but I asked to keep the salad. At this point I decided to just have the bruschetta alla Romana. The bread wasn't grilled. This is my fault because I did not notice on the menu that the bread is not toasted on this bruschetta. They charged me for the salad that I kept. It was not a good visit.
We went for dinner another evening because we have had very good experiences at Alloro previously. This time we shared an order of garlic bread with cheese. It is like a mini pizza. My husband had rigatoni arrabiate that was very good. They do make really good pastas at Alloro. I had seabass with roasted potatoes and salad. The Seabass was perfectly cooked and delicious. We were offered a complimentary port after our meal. Our second experience was so much better than our first meal.
Alloro is still one of the better restaurants in the Luz area and it is very good value for the money. We would return. read more
