this place has the most authentic central american cuisine in denver! i grew up in costa rica and love coming here because the food feels like home. there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, a calming atmosphere (considering it's on colfax), and everything is clean. additionally, the staff are attentive and welcoming. read more

Food was just okay. We once lived in a city with a number of really good Central American restaurants. This place does not compare at all. It is a shame as they have obviously put a lot of effort into decorating, putting the menu together, and keeping the place neat and clean. I was dying for some Central American food and found this spot a couple miles down from where I was at. I originally went for the pupusas but after realizing there's a $10 minimum for the credit card machine I opted for the fried tilapia. The order came with a full tilapia fried (head and everything) rice, black beans, a small salad and some tortillas. The fish after adding some limes was pretty good. I'd say the star of the plate were the black beans. I felt like this was pretty authentic Central American food and will probably be back whenever I get the craving for a full fried fish! Friday December 4th 2015, we went here for Lunch coz the other establishment we want to go to, it was CLOSED on that day. *SIGH* Time was about 12 noon-ish. From their Menu, I opt to have the 2 Beef Empanadas and 1 Chicken Empanadas ($5.25). My friend opt to have 2 Pupusas ($4.00) and Tamale ($3.00). We waited for our food to be ready since before us, there is a family waiting for their food to be ready. Hence do have patience. Since we are catching up, we don't mind the wait at all. While we are waiting many more patrons entered this establishment and have their Lunch here. There have a private room located at the right wing of this establishment. From their Menu, there are plenty to choose from.. Our server who is the ONLY one, running the tables, took our orders and other patrons alike was indeed welcoming. I bet this establishment is a mom and pop kind of establishment aka like the whole family runs the business. About 12:30hrs ish, then our food is ready. Overall its OK especially for me. I think next time I would order 3 Chicken Empanadas and 2 Beef Empanadas. The Empanadas are tasty but I prefer the Chicken way better than the Ground Beef. My friend enjoyed her Lunch coz she ordered the Pupusas and Tamales which were indeed filling for her and "dirt" cheap for her pocket books. All in all, I don't mind returning hence with this 3 STARS Generous review. Perhaps from there, my review might differ with other options that I want to try. Yum! Great food! We tried a few things on their menu. We went for my boyfriends birthday- his favoirte thing is tamarind so I thought this would be a great place. Only probelm- they do not have many dishes with tamarind in them :/ We were able to sample most of their vegetarian food as there was not too many choices. Insanely delicious! I still have the taste of fried plantains on my lips, and I wish I had room in my belly for second dinner because I want to try everything on the menu. Aside from the plantains, the highlights were the house-made tortillas, pupusas, baleada especial, and the amazing onion sauce on the beef dish my boyfriend ordered. So...basically everything we ate. Each dish had an amazing depth of flavor, and they give you a habanero sauce to add spice if you want it. I'll definitely be back to try the yuka with chicharron and more pupusas! read more
