It seems like it is an institution in Curitiba, with multiple groups eating here. The restaurant is huge and they say they can accomodate 4000 Plus at a time. It was easy to get a table as I came for late lunch. A list of dishes are laid out before you and then servers bring you various pasta and meat dishes. It is like a buffet service at the table. I liked the garlic flavored pasta, the Polenta and a kind of liver dish. Service is great. There is a lot of attention given and people some English here. Plenty of parking. I would say, come here on your own transportation or come as part of a group. The Santa Felicidade neighborhood is pretty and you can shop around after lunch. read more

To me this is a place you go to for the experience. And it is quite an experience. We walked in and were immediately seated. Within a moment a number of plates and trays arrived at our table and the table was full. Then we ordered beverages. Then began the rounds of pasta and meats. Waiters come around with trays of pastas and meats and offer fresh servings. You could eat and eat and eat. Pace yourself. We sat for awhile and had beverages in between and saved room for dessert. There is a vast dessert menu. I think if I lived in Curitiba I would go here from time to time especially on the weekend if I didn't feel like cooking. It seems like it would be a fun place to meet friends on a Friday or Saturday. The area is huge and we walked around after. So a lot of people told me to come to Mandalosso because it was supposed to have the best Italian food in the Santa Felicidade area which was supposed to be the Italian area of Curitiba. So I came and the restaurant is gigantic. They have a massive outdoor parking area and a huge inside. I didn't know anything about Mandalosso but when I came for lunch, I walked in and none of the waiters greeted me. They just stood at the door and looked at me. I waited for a little bit because I wasn't sure if I was supposed to have them sit me or not. After standing for a minute, I headed to a table and sat down before someone finally came. He asked me what I wanted to drink and I asked him for a drink menu. He said he didn't have any. So then I told him that I wanted red wine. He then started to list off a bunch of wines before asking me if I wanted to see the wine list. Of course I did. That's what I asked for in the first place dumbass!!! He brings over the winelist and I order. I pretty much realized that once I stepped in, this was going to be a rodizo of pasta where you just sit there and they bring the pasta over. Seen enough, the food starting coming out. On their website, they list 50 different pasta dishes that they serve. They only were serving about 10 dishes for lunch that day. I asked them for some of the dishes that I saw on their website and the waiter said that they were only serving the 10 that they had. This was a massive disappointment. I ate as much as I could before deciding that I wanted to try the creme de papaya with cassis. They bring out the creme with cassis already poured onto it. The bowl that the creme de papaya is poured into is very deceptive. It looks really big but the bottom is really tiny so you're not getting a lot of this dessert in the end. What a ripoff. I can't see myself coming back here if I'm going to be paying. If someone else pays, I will try and suggest another restaurant before coming here. If you want good Italian, go to Lellis in the center of Curitiba. It's a lot better. If you want Italian in Santa Felicidade, then try a different restaurant. Mandalosso is just famous for being a really big restaurant. The pasta really isn't very good and the service is not as good as it should be. If you just want to see the restaurant, then definitely come and take some pictures outside because the building is really nice. The interior does not match the outside so there really is no need to go inside. read more

I always make it a point to eat here several times during my visits to Curitiba and it used to be amazing, best wings I've ever had!! However, this most recent visit was not like it used to be. The wings were so small that they had hardly any meat. They tasted like burnt grease, the other dishes were not as flavorful as in the past. After driving from SP to Curitiba, worked for over 8 hours, all I could think was a place that served good food and that would be nice to talk shop with other local colleagues, and drink booze. So with these requests made, one our colleagues suggested Madalosso, an iconic place in Curitiba that attracts literally millions of people every year for its "one of the biggest restaurants in the world". Place is HUGE! It seats over 4,500 people, separated within multiple chambers, well decorated (it almost feels like being in Vegas, with its painted ceilings, huge capacity restaurants, well dressed and happy folks, lots of cars, water fountains). This place is impressive, their food is decent, but considering that everything comes out on time, and quality is consistent. Their kitchen gotta be amazing and even Henry Ford would be proud of their system. What do you get with the entrance fee (all you can eat): . Freshly squeezed juices, batidas (fruit juices+cachaça), shots of grapa, martinis, and coffee while you wait to be seated, that's right! With a capacity of over 4,500 seats there is waitlist! . Fried polenta with cheese . Escarole with bacon salad, mayo salad . All kinds of risottos (vegetarian, seafood, cheese, funghi) . Chicken many ways (fried, pressed, roasted, fried naked wings, liver) . All kinds of pastas (imagine several types of: gnocchi, lasagnas, spaghetti, cannelloni, rondelli) . Grilled steak, sausages, and a variety of other grilled meats As mentioned before, you will not experience the best Italian food ever in your life, but giving its mass production, massive quantity of seats, all of its production from décor to service, this place is pretty awesome to visit!
