Wow. Very unhappy. Sought help with Resume Guru back in AUGUST of 2019. He really sold himself. Great to talk to on the phone. Initial drafts of resume promised, but never sent. He had promised they'd be sent two weeks after our first conversation. Here it is, six months later. Many texts, phone calls, emails. I actually reached him about three months ago, with more promises that I'd see the resumes (he was writing up multiple) in my inbox within 48 hours. Again, empty promises. No resumes, and no promise of a return of my money, even though I've requested them both several times. Do yourself a favor and avoid Robert Dagnall. I felt the need to update my resume so I called Robert and WOW is he good!. I knew he would be excellent when he said just bring your memory. He meet me at a coffee shop. He listened to all of my work experience and type as we talked. He asked me about my last few jobs in the car industry and dates. He looked everything up on line for addresses and phone numbers. I found Robert on a late Thursday night around 10 and thought my chances of finding someone that could do an expedited resume on such short notice would be slim to none. Not only did Robert email me back within minutes, but he could also have the resume done by Sunday! My resume was a 5 page mess that I needed down to 2 while still having all the pertinent work history and information. He started out by giving me a thorough over the phone interview and I was impressed by all of the relevant questions he was asking me in regards to the executive position I was applying for at a high end car dealership. BUYER BEWARE!!! Doesn't deserve even one star! I found Robert through a friend who had her resume redone by him. I had read the bad reviews but after seeing her resume I decided to give him a shot. I needed 2 resumes and 2 cover letters. At first the process was going well and I was confident that he would do a good job for me. He spent a lot of time talking to me and pulling useful information to build a better resume. Then.....NOTHING! He didn't send me my drafts as promised. I contacted him and he apologized for dropping the ball. A few days later I received a draft of 1 resume. That's the last I heard from him. He never responded to my email, phone call or text message. All I have is a draft of one resume that isn't fit to submit to employers. I am currently dealing with a dispute against him with my credit card company. I am also planning to take legal action against him. There are plenty of great resume writers out there and I would strongly advise that you use someone else. He isn't worth the headache. So, let me first say that I had a hard time in figuring out how many stars to give, due to the pros and cons of the review. So for anyone who is reading this, please read thoroughly and come up with your own conclusion. I initially contacted him with another resume writer. He did not answer in time as I was sort of attempting to get a resume put together ASAP. He answered at night, and I had already gotten someone else to do it for me. However, I spoke with him over the phone, and I felt I had made a HUGE mistake, because he was so well spoken/articulate, charming if you want to say in a very intellectual and educated way that got me. I ended up getting the resume done elsewhere. I then called him back and advised him of my story, and that I would really like to work with him. We both agreed that he would be the man for the job. Eventually he did speak with my husband (who the actual resume was for), which lasted for a good hour+. After that conversation, my husband agreed that he was a good choice. I was under an assumption that he was only going to take a few days, maybe 5 at the most. I questioned my husband after texting with Robert, just to ask how he was doing. He did text me back and let me know that he needed a day or two more. From there, my husband tells me that he would be finished by Friday. Friday comes and we did not receive anything. To make a very long and drawn out story short, we received the draft in less than 2 weeks. I was not really aware of the exact time frames for resume writers, but had a thought that maybe 1 week was the most. The thing about Robert is that when we received the draft and we looked it over, I was impressed. He condensed a 2 page resume down to 1 page, and I'm not an expert of resumes but I feel like the resume looks much better than it did before. My husband's verbiage was "it's more specific", to which I will agree. He seemed to hone in on the specifications of my husband's job and take it to another level in terms of resumes are concerned. So, would I recommend his services to others? I felt like Robert is a VERY ACCOMPLISHED WRITER. I put that in caps because I feel STRONGLY that he is a very talented writer. It probably was partly bad timing because I was attempting to get a resume finished ASAP. Then you have to stop and realize that a resume is something you are paying a "professional" to put together for you, which is to serve as a means of obtaining a better paying position in the field in which you are applying for. With all of this said, that's a lot. Robert offered to hear any suggestions on how we could make the "good" resume "perfect", however, it had been almost 2 weeks, and I just felt like I could not wait any longer. With that being said, the did give a better deal than he originally quoted. In the overall rating of satisfaction, I hope that people see the good and the maybe not so great qualities. I did feel the resume that he re-did was good quality. And to be honest, I did feel that he did a great job... not just a good job with the resume. I feel his work is pristine. All in all, the quality of the work that he produced from what he was given, was pretty spectacular. That is my honest thought. For someone who delivers such spectacular work in terms of a resume, you would imagine that it does take some time. In other words, he is going to get a lot of work... and that all takes time. There were things that I felt he needs improvement with, though. After reading through different reviews, I also experienced that. The issue though, is as mentioned above. For quality work, it must take time... you probably don't want to rush someone that may hold the key in being able to assist you in getting a better career opportunity. read more

Robert writes resumes so well, there's no question that it might take some time. Mine did. And it was amazing. I'm a writer of sorts as well, but my own efforts at compiling my resume compared to Rob's revealed their abject inadequacy. Robert's resume was probably the highest form of this skill possible. He also wrote me an alternate resume for a slightly different position that was COMPLETELY REDONE, and available in two days. I submitted these two resumes to six different job postings, and there's another salient fact- I'm underqualified. I have a ton of experience but lack the basic educational requirements of my field. I left Robert a voice-mail in late April. He didn't get back to me until the first week of May claiming he was really busy and didn't want to call me back until he knew he could dedicate 100% of his attention to my resume. After our first conversation, I had a follow up conversation with him a few days later that lasted about an hour. After that hour I was asked to email him as much information I thought would help him and of course to make a payment of $195. He promised me a rough draft by the end of the week which I thought was ambitious but OK. A week rolled by then two weeks then three weeks. Mind you I had been calling him and sending him emails asking what the status of my resume was about once to twice a week. No answer. I finally called him 4-5 times continuously until he picked up. Once he finally picked up he apologized and promised me a rough draft by that weekend, this was on a Thursday. The weekend went by and so did another week. I called requesting a refund immediately! Once I requested a refund he emailed me a rough draft. I advised him that I didn't feel comfortable moving forward and that I wanted a refund. He promised me a final draft that week assuring me that my resume was his priority. Once again, a week went by, then two, then three. I called and emailed no answer. I finally called him and advised if he didn't provide a resume or refund. I would file a fraud report with SD PD and file a complaint with the BBB! He emailed me a resume which looked extremely similar to the rough draft the following day. STAY AWAY!! A rip off really. Needless to say he has a ton of complaints filed with the BBB. If this review were on the finished product only, it would be 5 stars without a doubt. Robert is a very talented resume writer and has elevated it to almost an art. Unfortunately it is his artistic side that keeps him from meeting deadlines and following through on promises in a timely manner. I waited a good anount of time and had to keep on him to get a finished product, but once I did I was very happy with what I received. I would say that if you don't need it right away, but want a great resume for your files then he is your man. If you need it right away then proceed at your own risk and consider yourself warned. Here are the PRO's: - He does a 1-2 hour phone interview to ask pertinent questions about your experience and past employment. - Asks for relevant information like transcripts, recommendations, links to specific jobs you want to apply to - Promises up to 3 re-drafts of each - My résumé was improved - I did eventually get a cover letter (that I could have written myself) He starts off well and seems very professional and interested in helping you. However, the Con's are overwhelming. The CON's include: -Him saying he will get the first draft back to you within 3-5 days. It takes 7-10 days. Cover letter takes longer. (That is a very long time, when you are trying to apply for jobs.) -Ignores all calls and emails for 3 weeks regarding my cover letter after I already paid him in full. -I missed out on at least 3 excellent job opportunities trying to patient. (A big unfortunate regret I have learned from). -Paid $175. That's too high a price for his work. No one was insisting that he rush anything, so why constantly promise to deliver something and never deliver even remotely on time. I wish I did my homework before I got involved with Robert Dagnall and read the reviews first.. Regretfully, I had not done that for I found the link to his business on a trusted ( I thought) online publication. I liked what I read about Robert's approach to a resume writing as much as his price list. I though it was pretty reasonable in comparison to some other services like his. He sounded almost too good to be true! I called him and was surprised that Robert himself picked up the phone. For some reason, I assumed there should be some other people just to answer the calls. That was my first concern. It grew even bigger when he spent 2,5 hours with me on the phone at the same day. That was a rather strange interview..He barely talked or asked questions but his silence made me wanting to fill in the pauses. At the end of this interview, he said that he is not done yet and that we need talk more thus we spent three hours more on the phone a few days later! I was wandering, if he answers his calls immediately and talks for hours, who is doing the work?? I grew more anxious but still paid his invoice ($175 for a collage graduate with no experience). He said that he will send me a first draft in two days and I will get a resume in a week or slightly longer, like 10 days. It's been almost 4 weeks but I did not get even a line of my resume. I e-mailed to him two weeks ago and he said he is working on it and will send me my resume on Saturday (did not put an exact date, though) if not on Friday. No hear! I wonder, if he is a scam artist?? If not, how does he manage to get away with it? If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is! I got a call right away. Unfortunately, with today's economy, I competed with 4000 other unemployed people and I didn't get the job. A couple of failed job hunting later, I decided to have another resume done. I called and emailed Robert SEVERAL times...SEVERAL times! Did he return any of my phone calls? NO. Did he reply to any of my emails? NO. This guy told me that once I hire him to be my own personal Resume Guru, he will always be available to help me with my resume needs. It was a lie. Let me start off by saying, the "Resume Guru", Robert provides a great product. And he is such a nice guy. BUT, he is so flaky. I don't know how you run a business without calling people back. How you make promises and don't follow through. Make appointments and always run late, if he shows up at all. The sad thing is he lives around the corner from the coffee shop you meet him at. Robert has produced two resumes for me over a 4 year span. I was very happy with the first one, but the second one not so much. My experience with Robert the Resume Guru, was easy, painless, and produced a superior finished product. I base that comparison on two previous experiences: Of course, I had my own resume: Even formatted in an old Windows template, it was reasonably effective in marketing myself to small business. That being said, the current goal is to up my game into the big leagues. With larger companies, I'll need something more bulletproof on my side, to distinguish me from a larger group of applicants. Robert's version beat mine in presentation, and content. Very professional format and he was able to glean experience from our consultation, that I had until now ignored. My second basis for comparison, are professionally written resumes my friends currently use in the industry: My friends' professionally developed resumes, seem to simply explode every minuscule detail of their career onto several, bullet-point riddled pages. These appear to be documents that perhaps only a mother would read (start to finish). Robert's was succinct, and concentrated into the most relevant, and exciting items. For me, this approach made the highlights of my work experience pop, without drowning them in an epic biography. Robert was quick to respond to my request for a consultation, and the total turn around time for me was less than a week. From consultation, to first revision, to final draft, Robert was responsive to input, provided valuable insight, and produced a resume that would provoke intrigue in anyone with a beating heart.
