I'd like to say my file is thick because of sports injuries ... but the reality is, I appear to be somewhat of a klutz who falls -- get it, "falls" -- into unfortunate situations. Resurgens is my go-to orthopaedic group. This morning I saw PA Brian Evans. Brian is everything I look for in a provider: knowledgeable, kind, personable and thorough. He diagnosed my sprained hamstring and set me on the road to recovery, allaying my fears. I've never had a problem scheduling appointments. On Sunday, concerned about my black, blue and purple bruise, I went on line to make an appointment. Whatever I entered didn't jive, and a pop up appeared saying someone from the office would get back to me. "Yeah, right," I thought, assuming I'd just call myself, during regular business hours. To my delight mid-afternoon Sunday I did receive a return call and the operator was able to get me in, first thing Monday. read more

My experience at Resurgence Orthopedic in Kennesaw was the most dismissive and expensive mistake I've ever made in my recovery journey. I went in needing real help -- a torn ligament in my hand and PT for a ruptured Achilles -- and left feeling unheard, rushed, and without progress. Dr. Jonas' nurse was amazing, but the actual treatment did nothing for my thumb. A cast and an overpriced brace gave me no improvement in movement or sensation. Over three visits, I spent barely 15 minutes with the doctor, and each time I was brushed off. My last visit ended with him rushing me out the door without even referring me to PT to regain use of my thumb. I paid premium prices for zero results. The Achilles PT wasn't any better. I paid for an hour but usually got 30 minutes of exercises I could've done at home with their app. No real support. No real recovery. Every patient deserves quality care -- and that's not what I received here. read more

where do I start?! while office staff was good enough the doctor, Michelle Perez, was the most dismissive MD I have ever seen. i came for a treatment plan for my Post-Polio Syndrome which causes weakness, pain, fatigue and neuropathy. she told me she knew nothing about PPS (few MD's do so I am used to that) and said she did not know what the treatment would be. i told her there is no"treatment" but only managing symptoms. when I said there is no treatment, she shook her head in disbelief. The rest of our "talk" she was distant and acted as if I was a total waste of her time and could not wait to get out of the room. She never smiled, never expressed any concern about my health. I got 0 help from this MD and strongly advise that you DO NOT book an appointment with her. Other MD's there might be good but I got the crappy one. read more

Dr Perez nurse was rude and should not be in health care. Wife referred by another Resurgens doctor. But nurse asked why she was was even there. Even though doctor Hanna office took X Rays that they had access to she ordered more. No wonder health care so expensive. Rude insensitive. Not helpful. read more

Absolutely appalled at the nurse and dr Perez. Both completely insensitive to any of your past or traumas you have experienced. Both will treat you as if you are a liar. First the nurse will refuse to believe the pain you are in and second dr Perez will come in right after not even fully in the door as if you are not human enough. And then begin a confrontation with you ad if you are lying about your info which is not true. The nurse LIED to the dr and told her I had a neck and spine X-ray. Which I never said. She asked if I received an X-ray from the ER I was at last night and I said yes. Did she ask to clarify which one? No. Did she ask all this after she put me in tears from not believing me and the pain I was in? Yes!! You put a patient in tears, they're going to shut down. Additionally, for Dr Perez, your nurse as well as well as you both have severe issues with trust in people. It is NOT your place to call out ANY patients for lying about their pain. Also, do NOT assume that a patient gave false information. Maybe have your nurses do a better job at asking the right questions instead of putting so much focus on believing if I'm even in pain at all or not. I clear said I JUST came from the ER! I recommend NO ONE to come here unless you enjoy being gaslite by a bunch of narcissists. read more

Bursitis in my right hip , called yesterday got an appointment for today came in. I saw Kyle the physicians assistant. He understood my problem immediately, this has happened to me one other time so I had records there and I was in and out of there and probably 20 minutes with a solution that will help and I already feel better. Dr. Perez and Kyle Allen are incredible. I only wish they had their own practice. Because Resurgens policies are not patient friendly. They will not allow an EOB to process and demand payment up front which is 100% always over the amount owed. Then the patient has to push and make several calls to receive reimbursement. I pay my bills everywhere on time or before they are due. I don't know why they treat good patients like this. I so wish Dr. Perez would leave this greedy not patient friendly establishment. The over arching company could care less about the patient. They really put the receptionist and other staff in a bad spot. They shouldn't hold my money for overpayment. They should wait for the EOB and then allow patients to pay. This is what insurance company tells you to do as well. read more

Expensive, Greedy, creative accounting procedures with no refunds for overpayment, little or no actual medical treatment for fractured bones. Provided x-rays that should have included partial ownership in the machine based on charges. Fees for poorly fitted plastic walking boot are 4x the actual cost from the manufacturer. Poorly fitted plastic boot caused sores on my foot and ankle. No actual medical physician involved, only a PA and a poorly trained prosthetic 'fitter' that looked and acted like an undergraduate high school student. BEST ADVICE I CAN OFFER IS: {SEEK ANOTHER ORTHOPEDIC BUSINESS BECAUSE THIS BUSINESS IS NOT WORKING FOR THE PATIENT, ONLY FOR THE MONEY THEY CAN SCAM FROM YOU AND YOUR INSURER} Yes, I labeled them a business for the reason that I could see no reason to consider this a medical office, only a business created to generate cash for the corporation and ill trained employees. read more

I wouldn't know about the level of care because they would not see me as a patient. I've been having new shoulder pain and wanted to see a doctor. I had both shoulders replaced in 2015. My original surgeon is now practicing in Florida or I would have gone to her. They recommended Dr. Starecki. After sending all my records I was told he would not see me since he did not do the original surgery! They asked Dr. Simon as well and he also said no. No one had an answer as to why they would not even see me to do an exam! The issue could be totally unrelated to the original procedure because I've had no problems at all. A simple X-ray could have likely diagnosed the issue. What kind of doctors refuse to even SEE a patient who is in pain? That should tell you everything you need to know about their concern for others. This is their JOB! read more

Have gone on two separate occasions for two differing items. Honestly, I only went this last time due to my insurance. I am REALLY regretting it and the $450 surcharges I paid for a simple 3-minute visit with the Doctor after a 2 hr wait and a needle in the hand with simple medication that did NOT work. Follow-up calls at 4 and 5 days after getting no response and considering a dispute of my credit card to get them to react or a board complaint. Worse part is that the office seems to not care if you try to get an answer. read more

Resurgen's Orthopedics, Chastain Road, Kennesaw, GA, is such an incredible, wonderful physical therapeutic practice!! The employees are so gentle, caring, patient, kind and so knowledgeable! The receptionist, Deanna V., is so wonderful! Upon arriving, she always has a beautiful smile and is so courteous! My physical therapist, Brice K., is so so incredible! He is so patient, gentle, knowledgeable and the therapy he puts forth is so do-able and so spot-on for my specific injuries. They exist to only make money. They are rude and really don't card about patients. I was there for a visit. I spent 40 minutes to give them info and their doctor Makhuli Brian spent only 1 minute with me. He even didn't touch me! He was supposed to request a MRI but the office forgot to send the request to my insurance. Of course they didn't forget to charge my insurance $350 for 1 minute visit. Horrible people! By the way, I had to leave a review on Yelp because on their website there is no way to write a review. They only select 5 stars reviews from the web and publish them. Terrible office staff and incompetent billing department. They don't communicate with one another so nothing ever gets put into the notes properly. Things never get followed up with insurance unless you hound these people. And you can't get anyone on the phone. EVER! The phone Keeps you on hold for over half an hour till you give up and do the call-back choice which takes another half an hour. Trying to make an appointment takes hours of time and multiple phone calls. Instead of seeing the Doctor, they stick you with PA's all the time. Do the doctors not work? Why should I pay the same $ for subpar care? This place should be shut down. read more

I met Dr. Womack when he did a complete restoration of my son's foot from old sports injuries. I was so impressed I scheduled my own surgery with Resurgens at Kennesaw two years later instead of my regular Peachtree Orthopedic doctor. Dr. Jonas treated two ganglion cysts on my wrist and hand, the biggest cyst was completely reduced with an simple injection and the other was removed at outpatient surgery. Had an appointment with Dr. Jonas and from the time I walked in till I left, the staff were very friendly and personable. The X-ray technician was a joy to talk to and kept me laughing the entire time. It definitely helped with my anxiety. Dr. Jonas came in and throughly listened to my ailments and gave his honest opinion. He referred me to see a Rheumatologist explaining how they can get to the root of my problem. The following Monday, I left his nurse a message requesting the referral to be sent to a specific location and within 24 hours, I was scheduled for an appointment. read more

I just had the big 70 birthday but I seem to think I am still in the teens. I retired recently and hit the gym for OCRs, then hit the streets for daily 3-5 mile jog/walks, then introduced myself to pickleball! Add this to the dancing a few evenings a week (West Coast Swing, Hustle, cha-cha,etc) that I have enjoyed for a few years. So, no surprise.... I was walking kinda funny and referred to Resurgens for hips review. My right hip required replacement and Dr Ross was the man of the hour. (I had first seen a physician who did posterior replacements but I wanted the anterior and Dr Ross was more than qualified). The first visit included imaging and a good physical assessment. I went for physical therapy and then continued on to surgery. The surgery went well and Dr Ross reported that there was more bone destruction than imaging showed... but my new titanium hip was GREAT! My recuperation was without complications and I was walking unassisted by the end of the week. Now, a year later, I have a straight gait and a possible sexy walk... LOL. SO, yes, I overdid it. Pickleball twice a day 7 days a week, walking 6-7 miles a day but put the dancing aside. The weather got cold and suddenly my knee was not cooperating. By the time I left the court, I could put no weight on my left leg. I was seen 2 days later by Dr Ross who did a 2nd follow up on my right hip as well as imaging and assessment of my right knee. Imaging clear but indications of a pulled ileotibial band (goes from knee to hip in the back). Dr Ross started the steroids and referred me back for physical therapy. Within 24 hours of the steroids, I was able to walk. (not sexy walk..LOL). I am anticipating the pickleball court and am now back to 5 miles a day, continuing PT. I have to say that Dr Ross and his nurse are so friendly, comforting and careful that I recommend them without hesitation. If I need a knee replacement in the future, you KNOW where I will be going! read more

I had started a seasonal job at Costco and had developed painful symptoms in both feet, etc due to working on the concrete floor of Costco. After trying several different pairs of shoes, numerous cushioned and arch support insoles, I was finally convinced by my wife to seek help from Resurgens. I was able to get in to see Tiffany Jordan, a nurse practitioner. After initial consultation and x-rays, it was determined that I have plantar fasciitis. I was given medication, orthopedic boot, and exercises to perform to help with the condition. After no improvement, I returned couple of weeks later for further treatment, cortisone injections in both feet. It helped a bit but thankfully my seasonal employment at Costco reached its conclusion. The patience, understanding, and empathy I received from Tiffany Jordan was awesome. I felt like she really cared and her empathy towards my pain made me feel heard and that finding a solution was important to her. When I returned for the cortisone injections she eased my apprehension and made the procedure as bearable as possible. Her "bedside" manner was very pleasant and I loved her sense of humor and attitude as she dealt with my pain and anxiety. I don't think I would have completed my work assignment if not for her care and dedication. She made the experience much more tolerable than I would have ever imagined. Messes up everything. I had a mask but the lady at the front didn't have a mask on talking with coworkers and then turns around and complains to a customer about not having a mask. Asked for a Doctor and I got a PA. He didn't catch what I had with x ray so waste of time. Gave the same x ray to other facility and they caught it. When asking for the x ray copy it took days and they put the wrong documents on it. Doctors want to spend five minutes with you run out the door and collect your insurance money. Not through at all. I cannot recommend Dr Michele T. Perez highly enough if you have back issues! First of all, the Kennesaw location for Resurgens is super convenient to get to. Lots of free parking, and a large office with multiple specialists. They have in-house X-ray facilities, so no going elsewhere if the doctor needs that kind of diagnostic. They are fast and efficient in seeing patients, billing, X-ray, and in every interaction I have had with them. When I went to Resurgens at the Medical Center MARTA stop, it was the absolute best physical therapy I have ever received. Highly effective, and no waiting for my appointment! i have lower back orthopedic issues, which has changed over the 16 years I have had them. Dr. Perez is up to date on the latest treatments to manage pain and improve an injured back as much as possible. Finding the office can be a little tricky. There is a large Community Bible Church just before Resurgens in Kennesaw. When you see the church SLOW DOWN, because the entrance to Resurgens is just after this, but hidden by a curve. Also the sign for the location is set back a bit from the road. The sign is on a center island with an entrance and and exit lane on either side of the island. Resurgens is located at the back of the parking lot. read more

I am a new patient at Resurgens so I wont be able to review the care yet but I can tell you, please plan your visit well. I have waited for as long as 45 minutes after I was asked to sit in the room. Thats just too long. First they will make you wait outside then in the room. FYI, I have already been waiting for 30 minutes in sitting area outside and then decided to writhe this review. I have waited at other clinics and hospitals but nothing comes close to these guys. read more

This is not a review of a particular doctor. This is a review of the length of time it takes them to determine which doctor you should see. I contacted Resurgens to make an appointment on 3/20/2019 because my normal orthopedic surgeon had moved his practice, lost his P.A., and could not see me for over a month. I had a very painful muscle spasm in my back. I am a spinal fusion patient and needed to see someone. I spoke with Rita, who told me to bring my medical records to her and she could get me scheduled within a week. I drove to Atlanta on 3/22/2019 - the day I could pick up my medical records - and took them to the Austell office where Rita was located. When I got there Rita wasn't in, so they told me she would be in on 3/25/2019 and they would give her my records. It's 3/27/2019 and I still have not heard from Rita so I called them. Rita still wasn't in and I was told my records were "in review" and they were waiting on a doctor to approve me for an appointment! I am fortunate that the muscle spasm has calmed down, but this is ridiculous. I'm going to get my medical records and take them elsewhere. This place is too busy for people in pain. Update: I called Resurgens to tell them I was coming to pick up my medical records. They said they would have them ready. I drove to the Austell office where I dropped them off and not only did they not have them, they couldn't even tell me where they were at the time. A wasted trip. They have my only CD from my last MRI and don't know where it is! Stay far away from this place! read more

Worst doctor experience of my life. First appointment I was told Dr Womack would be late because he is stuck in traffic so my wait before I saw him was long then when I'm finally called back and do xrays I had to wait another half hour in the room before he came in. And now because he was behind he rushed through my visit and explained nothing. He missed giving me an injection in my foot before he left the room and didn't even tell me he wasn't coming back. 2 staff members had to wait until he was done with his next visit to ask him to come back in and finish with me. He finally came back after another 45 min wait and was obviously annoyed. When he gave me the first injection that day, he was freezing the wrong knee so I asked him "oh you're doing that one too?" He replies "whoops", I replied "glad I said something ", he replies "me too". My MRI that he literally read to me verbatim he expected me to know what the report meant. Didn't explain any of it to me. The report said I had an IV contrast so i butted in to tell him that it wasn't IV contrast, he just looked at me like I was crazy , didn't acknowledge that the report was wrong, interrupted me, kept reading the report and wouldn't take one question from me about it! I tried and tried to ask questions but was always cut off and talked over. He is rude and condescending. I paid this practice a lot of money for 2 visits and still haven't been explained or educated on any of the conditions I saw him for. All of my PT orders were first not even in the system when I called to schedule and when they finally got back to me after investigating , the 2 orders from both my visits were contradictory and for wrong body parts! The staff had a hard time trying to straighten out all of his errors and mistakes when I called for clarification and had to try to figure out for me what I'm supposed to be doing. Never have I felt so dismissed and never have I seen so many careless errors and no sympathy for a patient who is in desperate need of help. If he's too busy to spend time with his patients then he shouldn't be accepting new patients. read more

Poorly run practice. Avoid Resurgens. Insurance paid the bill, I paid my co-pay and 2 years later Resurgens tried to extort more money from me. Even in a 3 way call with Blue Cross, they admit they received payment, then , once Blue Cross was off the phone they call me back and demand payment anyway---- after admitting they already were paid. Someone has their hands in the cookie jar and patients are paying the price. Avoid Resurgens. read more

Worst healthcare experience in my entire life. Brought x-rays from the urgent care, but the "doctor" could not read them. I was told I had a fracture at urgent care, my foot was swelled twice it's normal size and very painful, and I was told to go home and take ASPIRIN by this "doctor". He seemed like he was reading a script. Also tried to get me to have an MRI which would have cost I'm sure ANOTHER $800 (yes, 45 minutes in their office was $800). Had to go see my personal Dr. and received actual care for my injury. I wouldn't take my dog here. read more

This review is for the scheduling staff of Dr. Womack: I drive 45 minutes away to see Dr. Womack because he is such a great doctor. However, the last 3 appointments I have had, I had shown up to the office and told he is either not available or the computer system is not at the office to scan my foot for orthotics. This is extremely inconvenient, and with utter disregard for my time, taking off work, driving across town, just to find out there is nothing they can do for me. I guess it is time to find a new podiatrist that has a competent scheduling department. read more

A few years ago I was practicing my karate moves on Blake B and as I was about to go in for the kill, I landed funny on my foot and broke it in three places. Do not try "the crane" if you are not a professional. So, I went to the doctor the next day and they took X-Rays and they said I just sprained my foot. But after a month on crutches and no end in sight for the pain I was experiencing, I decided to go to Resurgens. When they looked at the X-Rays I picked up from my previous doctor's appointment they immediately saw that my foot was badly broken. They gave me all the tools I needed to rehab my foot- a special booty, a shot of cortisone, some pain meds, and an appointment to begin my rehab. They had me go in every two weeks to see my progress with my rehab and everyone on the staff was so nice I almost hated it when they gave me a clean bill of health and said their work was done. So, if you ever do anything stupid to your feet this is the place to go to get immediate results. read more

If you need to see an Orthopedic practice, then I would highly recommend you looking elsewhere. I saw their PA Richard Prater. He evaluated, did an x-ray, and diagnosed me with a case of tendinitis. He asked me if I wanted a shot for the pain. I asked if it was covered by my office visit, then yes. If not, then I can deal with the pain. They told me it was covered. I paid in FULL for first visit (office visit and the amount they said the brace cost). Two weeks later, I show up for my follow up visit. I arrive 15 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment, but I have to wait 45 minutes after my schedule time to see the PA. I see him for about 3 - 5 minutes. Go to check out. They charge me for another office visit and tell me I have an outstanding bill for the brace, which they gave me a price for the last visit and I paid. They said, we're sorry. It was $20 more than we charged you. Now, almost two months later I receive a bill from them charging me $116 more for the shot they gave me. The one I clearly asked if it was covered AND said that if its not covered, then I don't want it. I recommend you find an Orthopedic office, which will be respectful of your time and your money. If they tell you a price, you pay it, then it should be that price. read more

About 4 days after breaking my finger during a 45-minute fight for a rank test in my martial arts organization, I figured I should get the thing checked out. It was looking ugly. The urgent care place I went (Physician's Immediate Med in Acworth - also great) referred me here to see Dr. Jonas, a hand specialist. The whole experience was really pleasant. The receptionist was nice, and the nurses and techs I interacted with were all extremely nice and helpful. Dr. Jonas was nice and explicit in his diagnosis, and I left with no problems at all. I don't go to the Dr. much, but when I do, this is the kind of experience I like to have. read more

I hurt my ankle and went to a walk in clinic who referred me to Resurgence. The person on the phone seemed very confused about making an appointment for me and i was on the phone for at least about 10 minutes before we set up an appointment. We showed up for my appointment and checked in and we were told to sit down and someone will be with us shortly. After waiting for about 10 minutes my wife touched based with the reception desk again and she was told that we were on the wrong side and had to go to the other area on the other side. We went over and checked in and i was handed a stack of paperwork to fill out. I thought i was at a house closing with the number of forms i had to fill out. I had brought in my X-rays from the walk in clinic per Resurgence request, which i handed to the PA, who was a nice lady. She took the CD and left the room for about 10 minutes. Sand he came back she said that the X-rays were not clear so they had to take new ones and she would show them both to me side by side. My guess is that they wanted to take X-rays just to pad up the bill because when she came back she showed me the new ones but not the old ones. She told me someone will be with me shortly and asked for my shoe size. Another lady came in with a boot. She took the boot out of the plastic wrap and put it on me and secured it and then told me that the boot would be $375 which shocked the hell out of me plus the fact that i had no clue how much these things cost. She gave me payment options and i told her i would pay for it in full. I left this place feeling as if i had just left a used car lot and felt ripped off. Later that day i thought i would check the price for the boots and i found that they cost anywhere from $40 to $70. I have no problem with anyone making a reasonable profit but getting ripped off in a place of healing is just wrong. There was a time that i could walk into a practice and feel that they cared about me getting better and treated me fairly but unfortunately i did not get that feeling from this place. Between myself and my insurance company for a less than a one hour visit, we were charged way over $1000. There is something wrong with the health system in our country. Its no longer about caring about the patient but about maximizing profits. The sad part is that the boot actually hurt my ankle and leg and i only wore it 4 times and went back to the ankle brace that the walk in had given me at no additional cost. So sad. So sad. Going to the doctor should be about being comfortable and trusting your caretaker but it has turned into being nervous about getting ripped off and asking a lot of questions to keep as much of my money in my pocket as i can. By the way if you need a boot, please let me know. i have one for sale. Hardly used. Almost brand new. And cheap. Cheaper than buying it from Resurgence. read more
