They tell you up front you will be taken care of and manage your pain BUT that is not the case. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My wife has had a terrible experience with this practice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After the surgery the Doctor prescribed medication ( Severe Asthmatic clearly in my wife's medical history) with a warning of Severe Asthmatic don't take! My wife is a Severe Asthmatic. So when she would not take the medication fearing breathing issues.. they would not prescribe anything else for the pain. Over a week she went without meds in severe pain. Then they prescribed Tramadol which did not help the pain. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Called office "crickets" days go by and when they respond no solutions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is an ongoing issue but my suggestion is FIND SOMEONE ELSE and ask alot of questions before trusting the Orthopedic practice has your best interest in mind. First off, the ortho doctors here are some of the best in the Atlanta area. I have personally gone to Dr. Clark Glass for 10+ yrs and so has my wife and we love his great bedside manner and dedication to improving your orthopeadic issues. We love him. [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, in 2026, they STILL are 100% PAPER based, no online records or scheduling. Every single visit, they hand you a clipboard full of paper and ask you to complete 6-8 pages of forms even when nothing has changed since your last visit![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The paper forms you have to continuallynfill out even ask for the exact same info (name, address, social security #, insurance info) on form after form after form! It makes no sense and visits seem so labor intense and 1990s-ish medical records. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Because of Pinnacle Ortho's paper-based system and practice that works our fingers off on every visit, we have chosen to go to a different ortho practice where we can schedule online and complete all updates to our records online with NO PAPER!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And I don't know about you, but I hate having my personal info (especially Medicare # and social security #) on paper forms where it can be easily duplicated and a lack of safeguarding my info from unauthorized viewing. Went in for shoulder pain. Assistant asked questions and sent me for an x-ray. Doctor they recommended walked into the exam rm and said she didn't do that type of surgery and pretty much that was the end of it. I went to Dr. Hull for a second opinion for an issue with my foot. He listened to my concerns and validated them with a very thorough exam. He also made an X-ray and sent me for an ultrasound to make sure the problem I was experiencing was not something more serious. I am grateful that Dr. Hull did not put me on medication to cover up my symptoms, but rather, he took an active approach by wanting me to go to physical therapy with the assurance that he will do further imaging if therapy doesn't h my symptoms improve. If I could I would give Zero stars I would!! I had a bad fall at work and have a herniated extruded disc! I was sent to Dr. Valvani by my employer! He sent me for physical therapy that didn't help! He recommended an epidural but I didn't want it because I had a bad reaction to injections before! I tried to go back to work and had terrible pain! When I went back to Dr. Valvani and said I would be willing to try the epidural he basically said my pain was in my head and didn't recommend any more treatment! Then he said "Good luck!"! ! Now I have no money because I tried to go back to work but I can barely walk some days and can't work limited hours!! I may lose my job! I don't understand how a doctor can say somebody with an extruded disc doesn't need more treatment than a few weeks of PT that didn't help!! read more

I had a terrible fall down a flight of stairs 12/19/22 went to WellStar ER by ambulance as I was knocked unconscious & broke/dislocated 200% my collar bone at my left A/C joint. Dr Terrell saw me the afternoon I got out of ER & did surgery at Woodstock surgery center on 12/30/22. He was amazing throughout the whole process so was his PA Spencer, his nurse & the office staff even with my slow recovery due to pre-existing medical conditions. However, an increasing pain in my back was determined to be from compression fractures seen on MRI he ordered Jan23 & he referred me to Dr. Land to whom he said he would trust his own family with. After months of hassle by insurance & some paperwork in delays I had spinal fusion surgery 8/11/23 by Dr. Land which he performed with success. However, during these times I have had the GREAT MISFORTUNE of dealing with his nurse Kimberly who has a keen knack for patient disregard unless in office when Dr. Land can hear you. She often uses the excuse for not providing answers "I am in clinical" as if that is something special, has told me more than once "you are not listening to me" when in fact she did not listen to my concerns (unable to tolerate the pain meds prescribed/causing issues with my Myasthenia Gravis disease which I was in ICU @ Emory 6/29-7/1/23) & advised I am to take anyway per Dr Land & take other meds to counteract until next appointment. Sadly this is NOT the 1st time there is clear indication what she says to me as patient claiming it came directly from the Dr is totally opposite of Dr Land's approach to treatment of patients & advised her of such today then her response stated he wouldn't be available in the office I see him in until my regularly scheduled appointment to remove my stitches anyway. It is a shame that such a great surgeon is so poorly represented & a practice with mostly good people allows one nurse with a power trip type complex that she has forgotten she has a code of ethics AND a license in the state of Georgia that things can be handled with outside this practice since they choose to ignore this ongoing situation as I have communicated with others/confirmed this is her status quo. This is people's health/lives/future she is playing with and I am not one to lay back and let it go just because others have. I learned a while ago to read the Patient Rights everywhere I am treated AND to enforce my rights!! Today I had the worst experience with Dr Kamiga and his incompetent office manager. He had poor bedside manners , he totally ignored my chief complaint and does what all these new under skilled doctors do right out of school, gave me pills and refused to look into what I came to him for help with. I'm in severe pain and all he did was give me steroid pills . I wanted an MRI to find out what hurting my shoulder and I complained of chronic back pain. He said the x-ray didn't show him what the problem was so he recommended pills and physical therapy. Why recommend physical therapy for my body when you don't even know what is the cause of my chronic pain? It was a complete waste of my time . read more

My husband had an appointment with Dr. Starnes today. He sat right outside our exam room we asked the xray tech why would my husband need another xray and Dr. Starnes yelled from his seat "because ever time you come here you will get an xray!". The lazy doctor never got his rump off the chair and sent his Nurse Practitioner "Sunshine Harlaw,NP" in to see my husband. When I asked why we weren't seeing the doctor (while he was sitting outside the room) she said they are all a part of the team (even though his appointment was with Dr. Starnes)! Bottom line.....Dr. Starnes is a lazy doctor who seems to not realize that he has no manners and patients make up his practice. He needs a reality check!!!!! Came here after experiencing some discomfort in both my wrists. Called to set an appointment on Tuesday and was able to get scheduled for Friday at 8am. The receptionist provided me with various options to complete the new patient paperwork either in person or print from online and bring them into my appointment. Upon my arrival for my appointment, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. After getting a set of X-rays done at their office, Dr. Starnes came and and performed his evaluation and prescribed treatment. Overall, my experience with this facility was pleasant. I have been seeing Dr Scott Swayze since before 1998.Anna was his assistant. Two weeks after my first in2/99 he recognized me at Kennestone and asked how I was doing.I have always been made to feel as though I was most important person 1998 Dr Burris did my first rotator cuff surgery and 6 months later got injured on the job and had to switch orthopedic practices.That was the worse experience in my life. I had no faith or confidence in the surgeon much less the staff. Once every thing got settled 3 years later I returned to this practice and and had TRKR 9/21 and shoulder surgery 2/23. I started going here as a walk in patient due to excruciating pain that began mid June. Fast forward to now and after WEEKS of physical therapy...still in pain and was prescribed 5 days worth of some low grade painkillers. I've seen good reviews of Dr. Kumiga and I'm so confused where they're coming from. Not sure if he only provides quality treatment to certain people/patients, but my experience has been disappointing. Waited two weeks to have an MRI done which showed that I have a herniated disc. He called and advised that he would have a surgeon CALL me and follow up to save me a trip. Fast forward to the following week and I called back after not hearing back from them. No appointment set for me. No follow up call appointment set. NOTHING. The nurse returns my call and advises that an IN PERSON appointment was made for me (ONLY BECAUSE I CALLED) for the next week. I honestly feel like this Doctor is not taking my concerns seriously even after weeks of me having a numb foot and leg. The 5 day prescription of low grade painkillers is a slap in the face and I truly believe he finds my pain to be funny or a joke. Im currently looking for another Orthopedic for surgery because I wouldn't trust him or anyone associated with Pinnacle to perform surgery on me. DO NOT GO HERE! They then had me wait an hour and fifteen minutes sitting me in the waiting area with my leg down in which time my knee swelled. When I was finally seen they said my knee needed draining. They literally caused the problem they treated. They told me I dislocated my knee, which I knew. They gave me a brace with their logo even though I already had one. I had a great experience. I got there when I was told, did my paperwork, got in a room right at my appointment time and then quickly did X-rays and saw Dr. Burris. He did a great job of understanding where my pain was coming from and his home program has been helping me tremendously. I went specifically for problems with my knees from a sports injury and I'm recovering quickly. I also went to pinnacle several years ago for a break in my pelvic bone (also sports injury) and have no lingering issues or hip problems now. read more

I had severe degeneration of both hip joints. I couldn't walk and was in a great deal of constant pain. At the time in 2018, I had not yet received the diagnosis, but my Rheumatologist later diagnosed me with Sjogren's, which, along with other miseries, destroyed both hip joints. I was in a wheelchair and taking both Morphine and Hydrocodone for the severe pain. Dr. Day and his team did a fabulous job and my pain level dropped immediately after surgery and hasn't returned after 5 years. My hip and leg are as though I never had a problem, though I remember Dr. Day exclaiming what he found during the surgery was "horrible!". I cannot sing their praises enough and highly recommend Dr. Day and his team. I see some have complained about having to wait to see their doctor at Pinnacle. I don't remember having a problem with that, but ANY wait is well worth it for the experience I had. My sister had the same thing done by some doctor in Athens, and immediately had issues. I saw Dr. Starnes today for a very painful knee. He is perhaps the most unsympathetic healthcare person I have ever met. He dismissed my questions, told me there's no reason for my pain and during the excruciating examination showed no consideration for my discomfort. He did give me a cortisone shot, which I'm hoping helps. He overreacted when I asked about crutches (apparently a big no-no) and criticized my use of a wheelchair, even though the office was many steps from the lobby and I could barely walk. Dr. Nicholas Bonnaig is the absolute BEST. He performed total knee replacement on my right knee on March 3rd, 2022. Same day, I got home and inadvertently tore thigh tendon. He had to go back in to repair the damage that I did. Surgery went off without a hitch.
