There are multiple sections of the store that are especially rich in great finds. The kitchen section is fantastic, with tons of glassware and kitchenware to dig through. They also have a large selection of wall art and picture frames. You'll also find plenty of trinkets, vases and planters, and furniture scattered throughout the store, which really adds to the treasure hunt feel. The main body of the store is filled with many clothing racks, and I've found a lot of great brands here, including plenty of Levi's jeans and similar staples. This is always the thrift store I recommend when someone says they want to start thrifting but don't know where to begin. It's approachable, affordable, and consistently rewarding. The staff has always been wonderful as well. There are a few employees who have worked here for years, and every interaction I've had with them has been pleasant and friendly. Sometimes the store can feel a little chaotic, but honestly, that just adds to the fun of searching through everything. Overall, I don't think I've ever left this store empty handed.

There have been a few employees that I am not sure love their job...BUT THEN THERE IS DARLENE. Darlene (and even Mike) are the shining stars in this place and they make up for any deficiencies. And if the truth be known, Darlene is one of the reasons we go there- she is a beautiful soul with a heart for people and I have seen many other people come in who also greet Darlene by name! So she knows her folks- and when you know your folks, you are treated right and want to keep coming back. There isn't enough room here to express our appreciation for Darlene. Mike, the current manager, is a good one, too. He is kind and warm and he genuinely cares about his customers. One day this will all be gone. Time and space will overtake us and we will all move on. Less than 5 minutes off of 74 this locally owned shop has already saved me more money than I could have imagined. The owners John & Mary Beth are delightful. They will go above and beyond to save you money on anything you could possibly need. It is kind of hard to give an exact retail description. They carry A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING! It is so amazing. Everything from womans clothes to tools. It really is a treat walking around this place. The owner informed me he sales just about everything 50% off of retail which is nice for someone like me that has champagne taste on a beer bottle budget. If you go in and are looking for something specific and you do not see it, ask John about it. He may have is stored away. He informed that he has more stuff than he has room for which is great! I stopped by Downtown Girl just as Ute (pronounced oo-tah, she's German) and her husband Tom were closing up. I told them my story and they insisted I come in for some shopping. With a flip of the switch, the lights were on and music was playing. Downtown Girl carries all sorts of accessories for the feminine urbanite: from Fleur-de-Lis necklaces to soft, furry scarves, bright handbags, and intricate jewelery. If you're looking for a statement fashion piece, you will find it here. Everything sold in Downtown Girl is hand-selected by Ute. You'll definitely be getting a one-of-a-kind accessory and for a very reasonable price. I purchased several glass nailfiles as gifts for my best girlfriends. The colors are muted, the apparel is understated and the jewelry looks more organic with lots of beads, natural stone and ceramic pieces. It's much more Serena than Blair. But oh my gosh, they have some to-die-for knits here! Do you ever find yourself watching a well-styled movie or TV show and you're thinking, "that's the outfit I want! It's so effortless and chic." This is exactly the place where you will find those effortless and chic looks. I'd head back in here before sweater season officially arrives to find some truly unique items.

Macys Backstage has now taken over a great deal of the second floor of the Anderson Towne Center Macys. There are small sections of womens/juniors clothing, mens clothing, shoes, purses, homegoods, and some beauty. It is supposed to be discount. Prices are ok, but considering some of the higher end brands that Macys tend to carry, there never seems to be many name brand items. If you are shopping downstairs at the regular Macys it is worth checking out at least once, as long as your expectations are not high. I really wish they would have just continued to use this space for the regular everyday Macys.
