This has always been my favorite and go to thrift store over the years. The prices have consistently been wonderful, and because pricing is managed independently at the store level, it never gets outrageous the way some larger chain thrift stores can. There are multiple sections of the store that are especially rich in great finds. The kitchen section is fantastic, with tons of glassware and kitchenware to dig through. They also have a large selection of wall art and picture frames. You'll also find plenty of trinkets, vases and planters, and furniture scattered throughout the store, which really adds to the treasure hunt feel. The main body of the store is filled with many clothing racks, and I've found a lot of great brands here, including plenty of Levi's jeans and similar staples. This is always the thrift store I recommend when someone says they want to start thrifting but don't know where to begin. It's approachable, affordable, and consistently rewarding. The staff has always been wonderful as well. There are a few employees who have worked here for years, and every interaction I've had with them has been pleasant and friendly. I come from very far away to go to this thrift store and even though its a bit small and hard to navigate, I JUST LOVE ROOTING AROUND THERE. There have been a few employees that I am not sure love their job...BUT THEN THERE IS DARLENE. Darlene (and even Mike) are the shining stars in this place and they make up for any deficiencies. And if the truth be known, Darlene is one of the reasons we go there- she is a beautiful soul with a heart for people and I have seen many other people come in who also greet Darlene by name! So she knows her folks- and when you know your folks, you are treated right and want to keep coming back. There isn't enough room here to express our appreciation for Darlene. Mike, the current manager, is a good one, too. He is kind and warm and he genuinely cares about his customers. One day this will all be gone. Time and space will overtake us and we will all move on. BUt for now, this is my place, and I enjoy every minute I am there. Darlene, don't you ever change. And Mike, steer that ship! You are appreciated more than you can imagine. read more

First time going I was impressed. Clothing was organized by size and COLOR. they had a large variety of everything. The only downside to this is that it was very cluttered and thin isles. They really need to move locations or downsize. It made shopping difficult. Pricing was fair. read more

This is an ok thrift store. We stopped in a couple days ago for the first time and found it to be fairly organized. It's not very big and there didn't seem to be many employees. The checkout line was long the entire time we were there with one lady trying to keep up without any help. The cashier was nice. The younger employees uninterested in their jobs. We asked for the dressing room and the young man told us he didn't work there. Then he said he didn't know the code. When he started to walk away from us - the young girl who was standing around talking to him right before that said, "He knows the code." So, I asked again if I could get the dressing room opened. He walked in the direction of the dressing room and then turned around and threw a ping pong ball at the girl, nearly hitting me. Other than that, it was an ok thrift store. read more

Rude rude staff who HATE selling their products! I was looking at clothes and was sharply remanded by some person who looked like Mimi from Drew Carrey show- "There's no shopping off that rack!!" I then watch this human proceed to ever so slowly take items off the "no shopping" rack and place them on the racks where you could... shop... WHAT?! It's a thrift store Mimi- it hits the floor it's for sale! I watch her bark the same thing to several other shoppers- worst part, she had like 4 of these "no shopping" racks out all over the place scooted against the racks we could supposedly shop off of- completely blocking them. The time I went in there before I asked for a gift card and the kid behind the counter seemed to stoned to grasp the concept- and just said "uh...no...". I seriously think this is a store staffed by people who stop sales at every opportunity- if I was owner / manager I'd CLEAN HOUSE. read more

This is the best SVDP in the Tri-State I've been to as far as weekly sales go. They were running a $.75 off red clearance tag sale today that enticed me to make the drive. Their brand selection is MUCH better than the NKY stores, and they don't up-price their brands like the one on Este does. If you're looking for knick knacks and housewares, I don't suggest this store. Lack of selection and the narrow aisles make it difficult to look for anything substantial. I was searching for a craft table and could barely make it to the back of the store to look without knocking into someone or something. The main reason I'm giving the store a 3 instead of a 4 or 5 is the lack of room to move and the rude clientele/employees. I was pushed out of an aisle no less than 3 times by employees trying to stock. No "excuse me", just reaching their arms over me and invading my personal space. Customers did the same thing. I don't know what's up with Ohio consumers, but the ones at this store did not understand personal space or to not push people into the wall to see something while another customer is looking. All in all, the store was worth a drive due to selection and I will be back. Just please be polite when moving through walkways people! read more

A decent thrift shop. I always find at least one of the items I am searching for... and something I wasn't. A mix of quality and prices. Every week there is a different tag color that is further disscounted. Weekends usually have additional promotions. If dropping off items, follow the signs to the far side. They will help you unload. If you need a receipt that sometimes takes a while. Receipts are done in duplicate so you must write down what you donated while there. Employees inside are usually friendly. Drop off employees are sometimes more gruff. I believe it is Reach Magazine that frequently has a coupon for SVDP. read more

8 times out of 10, with patience, you can find a pretty good deal. I like to stop into SVDP once every couple weeks, just to skim. Most of the store is clothing with about a third of electronics, toys, furniture, books, bedding and kitchen items. They consistently run good deals of $1.49 clothing or 50% off clothing. They rotate "colors" weekly so you can always find a decent deal. You'll also see half off electronics, cups, books, frames and half off "cash and carry" furniture (depending on the weekly specials). During formal season they have a large row of formal dresses, during Halloween season they have a large row of costumes. So on and so forth for Christmas, Easter, etc.. I've found nice brands such as Timberland for $1.49, Hollister for $1.49, Rue 21, Baby Gap, Ralph Lauren... and I've never left spending more than $10. If you plan on donating, the sweetest guys are there to take your items. If you plan on buying, the women at the registers seem to have a chip on their shoulders when a "millennial" comes through. It's like the only enjoy serving older generations, so that might leave you feeling judged or unwelcome. Overall, I'll keep stopping in a few times a month to replenish my needs ;) read more

It's amazing how much stuff this thrift store is able to squeeze into such a small space. They originally occupied two store front's worth of space but have recently expanded to include a third next door. Even so, it's still a pretty small store. Despite it's size, there is a lot of great bargain buys inside. Their shoe collection is great, I have found several pairs of very cute shoes there. The womens section has its own room, as does the mens, and in the middle are jewelry, knick knacks, toys, dishware, and other various household items. There is a back room where you can find furniture and electronics for some very good deals. You'll always find something good here! This place has more of a homey atmosphere than most of the larger thrift stores such as the Salvation Army or Goodwill. The staff are also super sweet and very helpful. read more

If you call them for any donations make sure you tell the person answering the phone if you want to give them items be specific as the drivers will not take it if ITS NOT ON THE LIST? , I had a pick up this morning Dining-room table, china hutch very nice solid cherry wood. Well the 6 chairs and the leaf that extends it were - NOT ON THE LIST? so they went to the dumpster. Now to the queen size bed room suite. well I guess i didn't say it had end tables to match the bedroom suite yep you got it. - WAS NOT ON THE LIST! The driver did ask about the other 3 boxes since we said 20 but we had given them away before today so we offered to put the end tables in a box and they drove away while I was still on the phone with the rep. Oh and yep she told me. ITS NOT ON THE LIST! I ASKED FOR A SUPERVISOR SHE SAID IT WOULD BE A COUPLE HOURS? 5pm same day still no supervisor. This will be the last thing St Vincent DePaul will ever get from me! So if you feel you want to give to them in the future as many people will just make sure ITS ON THE LIST! This store is the bizz-ness. It is HUGE and everything is organized and laid out perfectly. The store I used to go to on Este Ave was big, but very cluttered and unorganized. I am going to let you all in on a little secret..... I am addicted to Fire King Jadite. It was produced by the Anchor Hocking Glass Company in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Obviously it is something that is not made anymore and hard to find, but after my first and plate and bowl which was my Nana's that I got my my Papa's cabinet after he died (we were clearing out the house to sell it), I was obsessed. love Jadite's color and translucency. Depending on the light in the room, the camera distance- even the food it's holding, it seems to become more vibrant and even look different colors every time you look at it. Anyways, at the Este SVdP, I have found two plates and three bowls. In this location- since it has opened like earlier this year-I have found 12 pieces! Two of which are different kind of bowls I have never seen before! I guess one you can classify as a cereal bowl, and the other is a spaghetti plate/bowl. I went after church today and didn't see anything, but its always fun to hunt :-) Oh and of course I love SVdP for everything it does in the community :-) Money from the purchases made go to people in need! read more

For many of us, thrifting is as much a hobby as it is an obsession and when you see a thrift store while driving down the road, you feel an obligation to yourself to turn in and see what you can find. I mean, who knows, your holy grail could be sitting inside for pennies on the dollar! To be honest though, I have not found my holy grail at this St. Vincent De Paul. However, I have found numerous items that I have bought and enjoyed thoroughly from this store. Although the majority of the store is made up of clothing, there is still a pretty substantial section that is made up of housewares, toys, books, music, electronics and so on. This is my section. There is nothing like rummaging through old goodies to find a piece of your past for sale for only 50 cents, which brings me to my next point. St. Vincent De Paul is an affordable thrift store. Now, this may seem like an obvious statement to some, but have you been in a Goodwill lately? Those are some high prices! St. Vincent De Paul smokes all the thrift stores around here that I have shopped in when it comes to price, hands down. In addition to their awesome selection and prices, this particular St. Vincent De Paul is probably my favorite to shop at because of how clean it is inside, and outside, and how friendly the people are. I was in a few weeks ago and was looking at an old Kenwood cassette deck with no price, and one of the guys working there said I could have it for 3 measly dollars. How awesome is that? This location opened a few years ago in a building built especially for SVdP and compared to what it used to be, it is very clean and well laid out. Unfortunately, now it is mostly clothes. When I go to thrift stores, I'm interested in everything else. The old location was so mish-mashed you had to be persistent and normally find a gem among the piles. Now, I find it important to come frequently to this store. While the staff is friendly I'm not pals enough to know which days are the best to come. I suspect it is a crap shoot since they having that sorting section off to the side and you have to hope you're standing when you spy something you want and it is finally put out. The prices are okay, but if you shop Goodwill on their 50% off days you'll get a better deal. To the people donating plastic Gladware containers and the store pricing it 50 cents, just recycle it! read more

Well, this place makes me feel dirty, but I find what I'm looking for here. No, I'm not saying exactly what. I don't want every jerk in the city coming here to buy what I want to buy. Well, here's how it goes. I think to myself, "I want to find these dishes." I go inside and there they are. Not just saucers, but plates, cups, bowls... Do I have magic powers or is this thrift store just good? I honestly don't know. I find other things here, too. Casserole dishes, serving platters, even once a ceramic poodle. And a brand new pressure cooker! Like that good brand. I can't remember the name, but it's like $89 for the same thing on Amazon. I got it for $20. This lady in line said I had a good deal. Oh, please! I don't need some lady to tell me what a good deal is. I know when I'm getting a bargain. Once, two weeks ago, I got a bunch of fiestaware serving pieces for my mom. I don't care if you know that. It's not something I go looking for. I just went here and there it was. Like I got $137 worth of things for only $35. I'm not inflating this bargain and using msrp, but the actual lowest price I could find them for on the Internet. Yeah, that was a good day. My mom was all like, "just give me that for Christmas." Uh, yeah, sure. I just saved me even more money, then. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ So whatever. I like that there are parking spaces. Sometimes the line is long, like last Sunday. Well, when the line is long, I just go home. Unless I have something really good. I hate standing in line. Like I get so grouchy and not even a bargain makes up for that. Unless it's an amazing find. Like when I found an entire set of the dishes I wanted for $20, I would've stood in line. There wasn't a line that day, though. read more

I relish going into Mt. Washington's St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store. I'm a long time resident of Mt. Washington and I consider this store a treasure in our community. First, I so appreciate that the store doesn't smell like many thrift stores do. It doesn't have that funky smell of dust, smoking residue, moth balls, old clothes, etc. Things are clean and well-organized into a wide array of sections. About two-thirds of the store is clothing and the remaining third has furniture, housewares, electronics, toys, craft supplies, books, holiday items, etc. I've purchased many furniture items over the years: 3 dressers (two of them vintage, including an Ed Wormley for Drexel dresser in lovely condition), wicker porch chairs, a child's table with chairs, a coffee table and a barrister bookcase. I've book many craft supplies (beads, sewing supplies, craft kits for children). They have great selections of books, pictures and picture frames, tableware (many vintage items, but they go quickly), toys and holiday items. I've noticed that the prices have gone up fairly significantly in the past couple of years, but they have discounts on various categories every day and if an item doesn't sell within a few days, they are quick to mark it down. Even with prices steeper than they used to be, they have much better prices than the Goodwill a block away. I also like the fact that my money is going to a good cause. Before donating our items here, I looked up the services St. Vincent de Paul provides in Cincinnati and they are many. One of the best thrift stores in the area, if you like to see a store packed full of merchandise but in an organized manner. The prices are very reasonable too. The variety of items here is the best. Yes they have clothes separated by gender and size. Lots of them in fact. But they also have a big selection of used toys, electronics and other Knick knacks. read more

Really good thrift store. Always full. Well organized. My one problem is they either spray their clothing donations with a strong smelling like product or wash them in a heavily scented laundry detergent. Decent thrift shop. Some prices are reasonable, some are ridiculous, but most is price adequately. I wouldn't call this the best thrift store I have been to but it certainly isn't the worst. Parking is great, the location isn't as bad as I thought it would be because of Beechmont traffic, I often get in and out easily. The store is smaller than most other thrift stores but they get a good amount of merch inside. It is pretty organized, better than most other stores in that aspect. The aisles are really narrow though, this makes maneuvering around the store a bit annoying but it isn't a big issue for me personally since I always go on weekday mornings after I drop my kids at school and the store is mostly empty. Clothing is comparable to Goodwill in price, condition and style. You will find a lot of dating clothing but some gems are hidden in the haystack, like for example, I found my daughter a brand new paid of Adidas pants for $5.99. The electronics are dated as well, mostly a large selection of ipod docks, tape player stereos and VCR players. The home decor area is where I feel pricing gets rediculous. The condition for 90% of the furniture is visibly damaged, stained, or torn in various places and the cost is about twice the amount of other thrift stores. I don't purchase furniture from thrift stores because of the risk involved (i.e. bugs), but I do pass through the area while looking through wall hangings and picture frames. The staff is friendly, I have never had an issue. Some seem to get annoyed when customers are in the way when they are stocking shelves but that is about the extent of it. read more

The employee with the long blondish white hair is so RUDE! I overheard her being rude to others before we got in line and when we were there it was nothing different. the tags ALL HAVE "CONDITIONS". You get 50% any green tag apparel... not scarves apparently? Whats the point in writing a review though because all the little old rude ladies that read it arent gonna change anything about their business and still be rude to me, my mother, and anyone who goes these there. But that lady should be fired. My mom offered to pay for mine and i said "are you sure?" and my mom said yes. REALLY NOT A BIG DEAL, but this woman goes "well whos paying cause i have to know." with a very rude attitude. Doesn't deserve a job in customer service. Upon our arrival (with a car full of clothes, books, household items and gardening tools) we found other donated items along the fence, barely covered and exposed to the elements. We also encountered three disinterested cigarette-smoking employees who were more intent on their conversation than they were in helping us! So, my wife and I turned left onto Beechmont Avenue, drove a short distance, and went to Goodwill. There, we found customer assistance that was top-notch. Eager to please, gracious, very pleasant and professional, we are glad we chose Goodwill to take our nice things. St. V de P needs to get it together! read more

What's nice about St. Vincent de Paul is that it's a thrift store that affords thrift. I mean, some thrift stores are still selling floppy discs for money. St. Vincent not only has a varied and changing selection, they also sell their stuff for legitimately low prices. The furniture they have is always really cool, and, while my wife likes sifting through the glassware, I like sifting through the record collection. You're almost always guaranteed to encounter really great finds. Like, last time I was there, I'm pretty sure they had a Polyjuice potion kit. I didn't even know that really existed. read more

After purchasing a video game console where the young lady and receipt said it could be returned in 5 days, it was not honored when we got it home and found it was broken. I would like to clothes priced per item not just a flat cost. Store has gotten pricey.

All woman blouses are priced at 4.99 instead of being priced at what condition the item is in. You can go to Gabriel's and get a brand new blouse for 5.99 and it's not a used item! I think the prices are extremely inflated and the staff are rude. I miss the village thrift store, they were so much better than this store. Prices were fair and the deals were much more exciting. I have found that it's often best to go to a thrift store with an open mind and let the fun in discovering something(s) of interest lead the way. I love this store! The people working there are friendly, helpful and welcoming. The store is clean, organized, and the prices are reasonable. There's quite a variety of housewares, clothing and accessories, books, CD's, Videotapes, LP's, decorative items, glassware, ktchenware, other very fun and interesting "odds and ends", furniture and toys that can be found there. So far it is the best thrift store I've come across in this area. Whereas other stores are cluttered, are pricey, and have very little to offer in the way of cool "finds", this store has fun, interesting, useful, reasonably priced "finds" galore.
