Hello thank you for responding, I appreciate a business owner that speaks to his customers. +a star for that. I wish we spoke last year during the battle to get this job completed from A to Z. I will have to say that one of the statements you've made is untrue and I have a email to prove it. On 06/19/21 I wrote to Chris and sent her the estimate with the damage. Her response was that she would have to get back to me after speaking to the big boss. Then after we were told that no payment will be made for the repairs and we were not offered the option for your men to come out and fix it, nor did we want them too after seeing the careless job they did. I will admit our roof was a challenge and I fully blame Nate at Phoenix for pushing this project forward. However, these mistakes mentioned below and the year long battle to get the job completed should have earned me a salary with the way I had to continuously contact everyone and get everyone on board. No one took ownership of this project, that was the mistake from day one. read more

They installed my solar panels and batteries. The system was wonderfully integrated with the Enlighten app from Enphase. The quality of the Enphase equipment blew me away when I made comparisons with other companies equipment. I can tell my production to the hour with history. Bill dropped to just the minimum of 14+ dollars (delivery fee) with net metering through Comed we wouldn't have to worry about the days without appreciable sun. Even on an overcast day the system met our demand. read more

My wife had seen a post on Facebook that this company did insulation installation and that Nevada Energy was paying to upgrade the insulation in existing homes. This is further from the truth than the moon is to earth. Not only did they mislead us by stating we would not incur any cost but at no time in the discussion did they alert us that the only way you could have your insulation brought up to current energy standards was to have them install solar panels on your home. EXTREMELY MISLEADING and somewhat fraudulent. When the "salesman" and that is what he was, not a qualified installer of insulation, but was very unprofessional as I told him at least 7 times we WERE NOT interested in solar. They wasted our time and theirs. STAY AWAY from this company. Just another company trying to pull the wool over their customers eyes. read more

Rethink Electric has been great for us with customer service. They were great on the installation (contracted by our solar installer) of our solar panels and then when our solar installer went out of business, they were very helpful in finding us the next steps for keeping our system running and working with solar edge to get our warranty upheld. Rethink was hired by Phoenix Exteriors to install our solar and panel upgrade. WHAT A NIGHTMARE. Rethink is UNQUALIFIED, UNPROFESSIONAL, and fraudulently performed unnecessary work in and outside of our home.I have been told (after the fact) that Rethink is not a qualified solar installer and just today was notified that SEVERAL solar installs completed by Rethink are now having to be redone because they were illegal, shoddy, and incomplete. 1) The microinverter arrays are not installed according to manufacturer or electrical specs. The current setup is overloading each line to the Enphase control panel. Should be no more than 8-10 microinverters per string and right now we have one with 12 and one with 13. The entire system needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled, at a cost of $7000-$8000. 2) Solar is not connected to the electrical panel in our home, and cannot EVER be connected because there is too much load. Rethink removed a 100 amp panel, and replaced it with a 100 amp panel. They told us this HAD TO BE DONE to accommodate connecting the solar to the grid. We were told we HAD to have a new electrical panel in order to connect the solar to the electrical panel, but it's not even connected to the electrical panel. We didn't need a new panel at all. 3) We asked about a 200 amp panel and have it derated because of the amount of ComEd power coming into the house. We were told that was impossible. This is possible per a different electric company and was SUGGESTED to change to this. 4) We were told that we COULDN'T upgrade the underground connection to ComEd for less than $20,000, but it's evident that they didn't WANT to do this work because the new electric company said it SHOULD'VE been done. Our entire solar system is not producing or providing us with the expected solar rating because it is not installed correctly. 5) The entire solar system is not connected correctly and is overloaded. This is illegal and very dangerous. What if a fire starts on our roof from this negligence? This was bought off by a Cook County inspector? Rethink told Phoenix Exteriors that I am the problem and they won't return to correct any of this. I partially blame Phoenix Exteriors too though, their solar reps have no clue what they're doing and they hired this disaster of a company to begin with... Thank God for the BBB and good attornies. In 2017 we had Rethink come out to give us a quote for solar panels and decided to go ahead with the project. Our 13 panels provide about 70% of all our power needed for our residence and barn. We figure the system will pay for itself with state and federal benefits and savings on our bills in less than 7 years. Last year we had four months where we paid nothing for supply on our bill. The company completed the project in less than a week, were very clean and left no construction debris or damage. We are very happy that we made this decision as each month we are watching the savings from this wise investment...not to mention that we are helping the planet have cleaner air too. read more

I received multiple quotes from different companies for solar installations. One was from Rethink Electric (Mike). After setting an appointment for a site visit, I reviewed my options more carefully and decided to cancel the in person visit. I emailed the company rep (Mike) with my reasoning that the return on investment would not be worth it at this time. His less than professional response was "Man, just tell me the truth". Are you kidding me? I was both surprised and insulted. If I do ever decide to move forward again, it certainly will not be with this company. Bad management. read more

I had been watching solar prices for years, as the installed cost per kWh dropped year by year. Only recently has the payback on solar systems made sense, but the investment was always out of reach when I got quotes from mainstream solar companies. Then, through our accountant, I was introduced to Mike Nicolosi. Mike came out, surveyed the site, and provided the quote to us free of charge. Mike's quotes were thorough and detailed, making it very easy to understand not only the installation that was proposed, but also the costs, the payback, and the process of installation. He was never pushy, and never boastful. He didn't sell us... rather he was intent on educating us about the world of solar energy. Still, I am an electrical engineer... so I have the typical geek fascination with technology, in addition to my practical concerns as a home owner. Mike patiently answered every one of my questions, and was not pushy when I wanted to get additional quotes. What I found when I started to look at nationally recognized names was that mike was well below them. In addition, when it came to SREC's (Solar Renewable Energy Credits), Mike had the foresight to invest in them early, and so can offer them to his customers with a very good rate, further reducing the payback. When I was done looking at it all, the payback was an astonishing 6-7 years, and even assuming no ideal efficiencies do to shading on my property, finally solar made sense! My wife and I debated and pulled the trigger with one condition: We wanted the install completed by the end of the year. Mike Obliged. He's an apt project manager, and his team was very professional and very efficient installing the system. Though I did not need to be there, I watched the install, as they worked the system, and discovered there was room for two more panels. Could they put them in? No Problem! Not even a delay on the job. The system was online by the end of the year. After the install was complete, his customer service was phenomenal. His team had handled the net metering agreement and the SREC contract, as well as the permitting. He delivered me a really nice binder containing all the relevant documentation for the project, which supports tax returns nicely. They have handled a couple of minor problems with the Zigbee gateway supplied with the inverter. They have proactively asked abut anomalies. Mike is active in the state of Illinois, helping to promote solar energy to our legislature, and was actively involved in ending the demand charge legislation that was pending at the end of 2016 that could have killed solar energy in the state. I am delighted to offer my wholehearted recommendation of Rethink Electric. If you are considering solar, now is the time to get serious about it. Payback is shorter than it's ever been, and the dollars make sense. And, if now is the time to get serious, Mike is the first guy you should call. Due to the unorganized disposition of Rethink Electric, our solar implementation had serious issues. I will identify just three of the issues here--(1) due to the inability to manage paperwork such as proposals and invoices, the owner of Rethink Electric asked for several thousand additional dollars AFTER we had paid for our implementation in full. In fact, the owner of Rethink Electric personally visited our residence in order to accept final payment. Several weeks later, he demanded several thousand additional dollars due to alleged paperwork issues on his end, and he stated that he wouldn't honor his warranty unless we complied. We haven't heard from him since. (2) Rethink Electric installed the incorrect inverter our residence. We had requested (and the owner stated that he had installed) the appropriate inverter so that it would integrate directly with the Tesla or LG battery backup devices. However, this is not the case and now we must spend thousands of dollars to rectify the situation or ask the court system to assist. We have written statements from the owner of Rethink Electric stating that he was installing the requested inverter. (3) When the installation was complete, Mike showed us that the electric meter was running backwards and that we would receive a credit as a result. However, we repeatedly told him (and showed photos) that the electric usage was ADDING (not SUBTRACTING). Mike repeatedly assured us that the electric bill would show that we were receiving a credit for excess capacity returned to the grid. However, the first electric bill confirmed that we actually PAID for the excess capacity that was produced, and as a result, our electric bill was roughly DOUBLE what it normally was. ComEd representatives indicated that they had experienced many issues with Mike (they knew of him by name), that ComEd installs "tamper proof" meters that increment even if they run backwards, and that the meters must be replaced before depoyment of PV systems. Mike said this was ComEd's fault, even though when we contacted ComEd directly, they told us that forms had to be completed and approval was necessary before NetMetering can occur. We had no choice other than to complete the forms ourselves, even though ComEd representatives stated that this is the responsibility of the installer. As a result, the system wasn't available for several months. Although the Rethink staff told us that we would be compensated for the double billing, this never occurred. In closing, I have two additional solar implementations on the plate (one for a large condominium association), and unfortunately, I have to locate another installer... There are other issues that I can elaborate. Rather than doing so here, please check with Better Business Bureau for updates. read more

Everyone was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Based on multiple bids, their pricing is competitive. The team did a great job all the way through the process - from upfront planning through installation and the submittal of the required paperwork both for ComEd (net-metering) and for the solar energy credits through the Illinois SREC program. Rethink Electric did an outstanding job on our project from the beginning starting with the site visit and survey, modeling the system with a number of different configurations, estimating system paybacks and finally the installation. They provided reasonable estimates for expected production that included factoring tree shading and so far their projections over the first 2 months are close to the energy that the system has generated. They handled all aspects of our installation including preparation and submission of the paperwork for net metering, permits, SRECS, etc. The entire staff that we interacted with including the initial customer support tech, the administrative contact, the installation team and the company owner were always easy to contact, supportive and responded quickly to any questions or issues we brought up. The installation team worked well together and very efficiently. The system was installed neatly and did not negatively detract from our home's architecture. Conduit routing was installed in the most inconspicuous way possible and very cleanly. The installation went very smoothly but unfortunately a week after the project was completed, a pine tree dripped pine sap on a number of panels. After the tree was removed, Rethink came back and carefully cleaned the affected panels even though this was not their responsibility. For all aspects of the project and even after, Rethink did a beautiful job. read more
