The people that work in the office are very nice people, but it's a very unprofessional workplace…read more I can't say anything about their charity, as I was employed as a bell ringer, so this doesn't imply anything about how that is run. I was hired and told that good bell ringers that got more donations were given the most hours. I was fine with that, ready to do my best. My first week went well, so the second week I was scheduled for second days. I was sick, presumably from standing in the cold weather the previous week bell ringing (for minimum wage I should add). I took 3 days off and let them know the reason. After that I was never scheduled again. Instead of phone calls they had resorted to just texting me and had contacted me twice. Once was for a two hour shift that they texted me the same day of. The next one was a longer shift but once again I was contacted the day of. I'm sure that's fine for some people, but not everyone can drop what they are doing and just leave for them. I never got an explanation or a message about as to why I was apparently fired or let go. So now a seasonal job that I really needed for Christmas and for a rising gas bill is out of the picture. Very frustrating company to work for and such a disappointment.

Simply a nice place to visit…read more I had not been out on the campus of St. Mary's for 25+ years. I specifically visited last week to pop into the White Violet Center and their Farm Store. Although there were not many fruits nor vegetables for purchase (I imagine it can often simply be about timing), I enjoyed going into the Farm Store in addition wandering the grounds to see where the greenhouses and gardens are located that would grow the fruits and veggies I could not purchase. The store has local honey and natural products from cheese and meet to pickles and granola. Not a wide variety, but the store is charming and I glad I stopped in. The White Violet Center grounds as not only the Farm Store, but the orchard, greenhouses, bee boxes and of course the alpacas. Females and males are kept in separate pastures, but they are so cute you have to go see them. They are bizarre, peculiar and beautiful. Who knew?...alpacas in Indiana. Now I would not wonder out there weekly to get fresh veggies because I am not close by, but the property of St. Mary's and thus White Violet are beautiful grounds and are worthy of a visit. If ever in the area, it would be worth it to stop in.

Their intern's mittens, scarves, headbands, etc from the fur of their alpaca. A great environment and always something different each week you have to try!

Hello, My name is James Duchene…read more My wife ( Connie ) and I have been struggling with housing, being able to get our personal identification documents, help with Social Security and being able to get back and forth to see my specialists for my illness. Since coming to Pathways they have helped us with all this and more. I would like to thank Mrs. Susie Thompson and Sarah Chandler for allowing us to have services through the Reach program. We would also like to give a special thanks to Loni Burk she has been our saving grace through every step of this process. The Reach Services program is full of of very humble, supportive, and kind people who will always have a special place in our hearts for everything they have done. Again, thanks to Reach Services and the amazing things you all do for this community, to actually be able to feel human again and be around people who care is few and far between. Located in Terre Haute, Indiana, the 14th & Chestnut Community Center is a faith-based non-profit…read moreorganization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of Terre Haute children. Headed by Pastor Bill Felts, whom I had the privilege of meeting during one of my Tenderness Tour events, the 14th & Chestnut Community Center offers Kingdom Kids After School Program, Summer "ROCKS" Program, Grumbling Tummies Cafe, Mother Hubbard's Cupboard Food Pantry, a Clothes Closet, a Computer Lab, and a Mom's Matter Support Group. 14th & Chestnut really targets its surrounding neighborhood, an urban setting where Pastor Felts has spent years building relationships and truly integrating himself into the neighborhood. The Center has a positive relationship with nearby Indiana State and even recently had some ISU students visit to help Center students with their reading. While COVID-19 is certainly impacting programming, they've been able to creatively maintain such traditions as a Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas presents. To meet Pastor Felts is to meet a man who is clearly passionate about his mission and ministry. My Tenderness Tour was able to make a small donation to support the work of this ministry in Terre Haute and while the organization has lots of programs and offerings it's also the type of organization that truly appreciates donations big and small. I was actually in town to do a fundraiser for another organization, but I came away from this organization super impressed by its team and how much they accomplish. As a smaller non-profit, it's definitely worthy of support during these hard times.
