I brought my iPhone 14 Plus here for a screen and battery replacement. What followed was a multi-month nightmare of zero communication, privacy breaches, and a completely botched repair that has left my phone running hot and barely usable. I am posting this to warn the Vancouver community and back up my experience with direct, black-and-white proof from my phone's own system settings. 1. Unauthorized Off-Site Transport & Massive Privacy Violations * Taken to a Private Home: I only discovered my phone had been removed from the commercial shop and taken to a technician's private residence after repeatedly calling to find out why the repair was taking so long. * Camera Roll Evidence: When I finally got my phone back, I found photos on my camera roll of someone else's laptop that were taken while my phone was at this technician's house. * The Passcode Trap: They demanded my personal passcode under the guise of "testing the hardware." Authorized Apple service providers do not need your passcode to run diagnostics. Having my passcode allowed them to bypass security, clone my device's data, and access my personal life unsupervised. 2. The Software Cover-Up & Lost Data * The Secret Wipe: To try and hide the system alerts caused by their cheap parts, they did a full factory reset and restore on my phone before handing it back. * The Proof: Because of this unannounced wipe, secure apps like Facebook Messenger completely forced a security logout, and every single password I had manually saved on my device over the last few weeks was entirely erased from the local memory. 3. Black-and-White Technical Proof (See Attached Photos I have attached screenshots of my iPhone's battery settings showing the exact state they returned my device in: * The "Unknown Part" Warning: My phone displays an "Important Battery Message: Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple battery". The system is completely unable to determine the health of this battery. I paid for a proper repair and got cheap, unprogrammed, unverified aftermarket hardware. * Abysmal Battery Drain: My screenshots show the battery dropping from 73% at 7:31 AM down to 71% at 7:36 AM, and plummeting to 69% by 7:40 AM. That is a 4% drop in just 9 minutes from light Safari use (with only 1 minute of screen-off background activity running). This "new" battery is dropping faster than a degraded, 5-year-old battery. * Touch Screen Failure: The replacement screen is also highly defective. It lags constantly, auto-dims and brightens erratically on its own, and requires multiple taps just to get speech-to-text to turn on. 4. The "Liquid Damage" Setup & The "New Owner" Script * The Setup: As I was walking out the door, the technician, Charles, casually mentioned he "noticed trace water damage along the bottom of the phone." This is a classic, calculated setup to void my repair warranty. If the cheap display or battery fails next week, he will try to blame "liquid damage"--even though my original intake receipt has absolutely no mention of water damage. * The "New Owner" Script: After leaving a previous bad review, Charles called me, refunded $120 of the labor, and begged me to delete the review because he "just took over the business a couple of months ago." Public review history shows him using this exact same "I just took over the business" guilt-trip script on other customers over a year ago. Do not fall for it. * The Recycling Danger: This shop heavily promotes "free electronics recycling." Given their total disregard for data privacy and unauthorized off-site transport of devices, I strongly warn anyone against trusting them with old tech that still has your hard drives and personal data intact. Wiping customer data to hide cheap parts, secretly taking devices to private homes, and using manipulative scripts to delete honest reviews is highly deceptive. Avoid Burrard Laptops (also operating as Vancouver Laptops).

As a longtime Geek Squad member, I was used to relying on them to fix my laptop and at least retrieve my files -- so I was shocked when I was told they wouldn't even look at it because it was "too old" (purchased in 2020!) for their technicians to bother with. Desperate, we contacted OnSite Geeks and spoke with Sam, the owner. Over the phone, he immediately reassured me -- not only would he do everything possible to get the laptop running, but he was confident he could recover my data. Because I live quite a distance from their shop, Sam even arranged for a technician to meet us at a mutually convenient location. Incredible service! Within a week, my laptop was fully repaired, running perfectly, and every bit of my data was restored. The price was very reasonable--and most notably it was the price quoted--not sudden fees added. And remarkably, Sam personally delivered the laptop back to me at the same meeting point, saving me the extra driving time once again. I truly cannot recommend OnSite Geeks enough. Honest communication, professional, reliable, and willing to go the extra mile -- literally! LysaD

The repair was affordable and my computer is working great now. The only problem was that it took a while to get my computer back - about 3 weeks. The delay wasn't their fault though. It took a long time for 2 parts to come from China due to the Golden Week holiday in that country. I would definitely call them again.

They did a super job). This time I needed to have my system upgraded to Windows 11 and upgrade the hard drive. My computer was ready the next day and cost considerably less than I expected. Young Shintaro at the customer service desk was very helpful and made a number of recommendations to improve the upgrade. But Memory Express Langley's manager's behavior is remarkably rude and unprofessional. I ordered an i7-13700K Processor Bundle with a Gigabyte Z790 GAMING X AX Mobo for $629 during the Thanksgiving sale a few days ago (attached are the pictures as proof). Today, I received a call from the manager, stating that I must pay an additional $200 due to their error. I would have been fine with this adjustment, but at the time of my purchase, there were several similar bundles available at Canada Computers and NewEgg. Unfortunately, I missed out on those deals because I ordered from Memory Express. As a result, I'm left with no other options. Note that this would have been illegal in Quebec under their consumer protection laws. When I tried to explain this situation to the manager, instead of a simple apology, I was met with a barrage of yelling and unprofessional behavior. What should have been resolved with an apology turned into a heated argument with the manager.
