Oh my gosh!!! I cannot state enough how grateful I am that Rev. Anne and her team pulled through for me to make my wedding fantastic! So my boyfriend asked me to marry him on Dec 14th and he wanted to do it on.... New Years Eve! I thought this was a totally cool idea, but worried I wouldn't be able to get the details together in time. I called Rev. Anne right away the following Monday. By Tuesday, we had spoken and worked it all out. She would not be able to do it, but assigned Rev. Val to conduct my wedding. Rev. Anne recently officiated our wedding, and she was exactly what we were looking for. My now-husband and I knew from the get-go that we wanted a simple, non-religious ceremony, but one that was a bit more significant than having a friend get ordained online. After a little online searching I came across Rev. Anne, and after seeing that she named her business The Rev for Whatev, I knew she was just what we wanted. We had an initial Skype call to talk about what we wanted our ceremony to be, and she was friendly and receptive to everything, and sent us sample ceremony scripts that we could either choose or use as inspiration to create our own. We wound up using pieces of her non-religious ceremony scripts, picking a reading of our own, writing our own vows, and sharing a personal story, all of which Rev. Anne collaborated seamlessly into an eloquent ceremony. We didn't have a wedding party processional, so we opted to not do a rehearsal, so we didn't actual meet Rev. Anne until the big day. She sent us a helpful email in the week beforehand reminding us of key things and showed up early the day-of to walk us through everything that was about to happen. She was calm, organized, and friendly, and immediately picked up on the fun/casual vibe we wanted our day to have. She even fixed my train for me before I headed down the aisle! Our ceremony went off without a hitch and had everything we wanted in it. Multiple people came up to us during the reception to tell us how great the ceremony was, specifically calling out our officiant as being awesome. Within the next week, Rev. My wife and I were married on Nov. 8th at the 19th Century Club in Oak Park Illinois. We had Rev Anne for our officiant this past weekend, and we were EXTREMELY lucky to find her! She blended parts of her templates, (which were so so helpful for a bride who didn't know the first thing about putting together a ceremony, but wanted to have a hand in creating the ceremony) with some of our suggested poems/readings. She was able to take our suggestions (as vague as they may have been), and come up with the absolute perfect ceremony, that felt SO us (if we had been professional ceremony craftsmen). Anne Styx was absolutely over-the-moon-amazing to work with during our May 2011 wedding - and the experience was fantastic from pre-wedding all the way to the wedding day ceremony itself. We wanted a ceremony that we could really take part in constructing and would have elements of both traditional and modern ceremonies to speak to both sides of our families. I cannot say enough about Reverend Anne, AKA The Rev for Whatev! We had never met Anne when we first booked her as our officiant, but she seemed to pick up on the elements of our wedding that were truly important to us. My husband and I wanted a mesh of religious elements with more spiritual elements for our ceremony, and Anne perfectly captured that. She consistently updated the full script of what she would say on the day of as changes needed to be made, so we could be fully aware of what would be said. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my husband and I had to change our wedding plans 3 times before we were finally successful. For our second wedding plan, Anne already had a personal commitment, but that did not stop her from reaching out to a colleague to find us a replacement right away, something that was absolutely not required of her but so so appreciated! I ended up googling "officiant for starved rock" (where i was getting married) and she was the first person to pop up! I was nervous about finding one online but I can't tell you how happy I am! I can't say enough good things about Reverend Anne! She married my husband and I on January 24, 2015. She was so sweet and professional throughout the entire process. When we first met her, she was very warm but also very professional! Her suggested samples of the ceremony script are lovely and my husband and I were able to combine two of them. We are agnostic and we really appreciated how she has a selection of nondenominational ceremony scripts. It was always a breeze to contact her and we always heard back from her the same day. On the day of the ceremony, she was on-time and set herself up, which was really helpful since my husband and I were so preoccupied.
