It's a minority family-owned small business, and the vibe they've created is awesome. The shop is super clean, inclusive, and a really welcoming spot for families and everyone else. The customer service is on point from start to finish. James has been one of the absolute best barbers in the East Bay for a minute now, but seeing him branch out on his own is amazing. You can tell he's putting everything into this shop to make sure the whole experience is fire from the second you walk through the door. And as always, the cuts are flawless. I don't have much hair left but his fades are always dope and perfectly blended. He makes me feel like I still got it Definitely go show some love to a local, family-owned spot. I moved to SF from DC about 4…read moreyears ago and up until about a year ago I refused to get my hair cut in the city because I didn't want to go through the process of finding a new hair stylist which sounds dramatic but it's true lol. When I finally tried one place in SF, it was a pretty bad experience. Cue: The Red Fox Salon. I randomly found this salon and Lynsey and decided to give it a go. I have never been so happy with my hair! I have fine, thin hair so it can be really challenging for me to get a cut that makes me feel good! But if you also do, Lynsey is absolutely your gal. She provides lots of tips for hair health as well. Not to mention she is the sweetest and will immediately put you at ease with how friendly she is. The salon itself is also bright and airy and very cute. I've also bought a couple of the all natural hair products she has there which I've liked! For whatever reason the San Mateo area has a TON of barbers, especially after COVID, so it can be difficult to find a trustworthy barber who can provide a consistent haircut with great service every time. I can definitely say that Tom is one of the best in the area and provides a high quality haircut with great service every single time which is why I have been going to him for so long. He is also a very nice guy and is very accomodating/understanding. I HIGHLY recommend Tom if you are looking for a great quality haircut!

After trying out different stylists with less then stellar results, I have to say DeeDee does exceptional work! Especially considering my hair is not processed, other stylists have not been able to get the right degree of straight and bouncy that I prefer. My hair was grown a lot and become much healthier since she has been my stylist. She always works around my schedule and if I have an last minute event that I'd like my hair done for, 9 times out of 10 DeeDee finds time within her busy schedule to accommodate me. I always leave very satisfied and looking 10 times better than when I walked in lol. I really don't know what issues a reviewer is referring to about the quality of the work she does. I had a hair style that I kept in for 4 MONTHS (with regular maintenance)! But I have never been disappointed in the quality of her work, and I'm pretty hard to please with my hair! I've even had my hair done by Ashley once (another stylist there) when I was strapped for time and just walked in -- and after I told her what I needed she went out of her way to make sure I left with the style I wanted and usually get. I also really love the atmosphere of the salon, it's open, spacious and very inviting with a large window that let's in a lot of light. I've been to other salons where it was really dark and cramped feeling. On the weekends, they even have fresh fruit and beverages while you wait. So basically, I'm very loyal to this salon because they're very loyal to my satisfaction!
