But Laurie's amazing! She was recommended to me by Michelle Graves (who is also amazing) when Michelle was on leave. I never thought about this until I read someone else's review but Laurie really is a wonderful listener with a calming presence. I've had a lot of stress in my life in the past from work and a car accident. Seeing Laurie improves my pain level and overall health. But I always leave Laurie's office much more relaxed and less stressed - I think in part it's her presence in addition to her skills as an acupuncturist. She takes care of muscle spasms, allerigies, insomnia, stress to just name a few. Like Teresa said, she will also offer suggestions for herbal remedies (even via email) and never pushes a sell which I've experienced before. I'm torn between Laurie and Michelle because both are the best. Bonus is Laurie has night hours. I do miss her Saturday hours though because it was nice to have the option to not cram in a session during the work week. She also accepts Blue Cross PPO.

What I appreciate most is her truly holistic approach - mind, body and spirit. She's an acupuncturist and psychiatrist for me; using all physical and on-physical information to assess my condition. Laurie is compassionate, knowledgeable, accessible and kind! She is a gem.

Four people in my family, my neighbor and someone that works for me have all seen Jeff and highly…read morerecommend him as a provider who cares deeply about prevention and maximizing your health. I took those tests referred to by the previous reviewer and found some very import health information that I'm able to address now that I'm aware. It's easy to focus on credentials but to what end? It's my observation that my internal medicine doc of 16 years is too much of a box checker without the important nuance that you'll get with Jeff and his team.

Bravo to these providers for creating an independent practice for patients. I've taken my own…read morehealth into my hands because I don't want my diagnosis and prescribed treatments to be dictated by hospital/system healthcare quality metrics or insurance formularies. I've found the whole BioLounge team to be thorough, caring and honest, while vetting the options and following through. They don't bill your insurance for your visits, but they don't stop you from getting your labs or prescriptions at your preferred locations so your insurance can pay for covered charges. Their best recommendations might not be covered and that's something to consider. One might have to be proactive and come prepared to discuss, but our best health requires our education, engagement, and ultimately, choice. I respect this business model since it allows more patient-provider shared decision making, even if it costs more than going to an in-network provider. Thank you Dr. Jackie, Jeff and team.

First and foremost, what truly makes a great place to workout and learn more about developing a healthy lifestyle is definitely the people. I was so lucky to work with Gordon the owner - he knows so much about improving overall health in a safe and motivating way. He cares deeply for every client that enters the gym whether he trains them personally, or they work with one of the other trainers in the gym. Gordon offered me a safe and positive environment to learn and feel supported. Coming from someone who has struggled his entire life with fitness and developing strong routines, I always looked forward to going to Energy Fitness to workout with Gordon. He is a fantastic trainer and even better human being. I also encountered many other trainers while I was working with Gordon who were also always kind and supportive, and I enjoyed talking to them as well. Secondly, the facility is EXCELLENT! I was fortunate to see the gym expand into a larger space during my time there, and the expansion made a huge difference. The equipment is all in great shape, the gym is super clean, and the location is in one of the best neighborhoods in the downtown area. If you are looking for a welcoming gym experience where you are supported and able to work toward your fitness goals in a positive, life-changing way, then I highly recommend Energy Fitness. I learned more about how the body works and how to improve balance, flexibility and to feel more centered during my time at Energy Fitness. If I were still living in the Portland area, there is absolutely no doubt that I would still be working out with Gordon every single week.

VINCENT PARKS FITNESS @ Energy Fitness…read more Years ago, following a surgery, I had trouble getting my mobility back. Having been laid up caused my back to weaken which has always suffered from a high school injury. Chiropractors helped, but the real gains were in core strengthening and mobility work with Vincent Parks. Vince coupled his personal training skills with his keen awareness of how energy flows, and it worked. As a follow up to this experience, I returned to see Vince again after a car accident and shoulder injury in 2014. My experience was the same. Keep in mind, I went to physical therapy on the insurance for 9 months. It wasn't nearly as useful. Vince takes the approach of a team mate. We work together to solve the issues that I want to work on. And everything is easier as a team. Thanks Vincent Parks!

Dr. Chong is the pinnacle of personal health care providers, in my experience. Super knowledgeable…read morein both eastern and western approaches, very current on research (especially in cardiac medicine) and able to distill research findings to digestible amounts. I've never had the feeling that he was trying to upsell me on more labs- he's always explained which he thought were crucial to do now, which might be important down the line, and which we probably don't need to look at. He's also funny, friendly, caring, and patient. I also personally resonate with the Functional Medicine approach- still very quantitative and lab based, though focusing more on markers that indicate optimal health, rather than straight up disfunction. (I'm personally fit and healthy, but have reason to keep tabs on cardiac and metabolic disease markers due to family history.) Highly recommended.
