"Requiring ID for credit card purchases" is a policy that helps nobody -- certainly not the customer -- and only serves to aid in identity theft. Sometimes all a dishonest clerk needs is to memorize your zip code, and now they've got everything necessary to use your card number later. I've even had my entire driver's license number stolen in the past, and wholeheartedly support and understand why it's against Visa and Mastercard policy. This is completely lost on the staff at BuyBacks. Not only do they not care that they're breaking their merchant agreement with Visa and Mastercard (which can result in hefty fines, or the suspension of their ability to even accept credit cards at all), I'm not even entirely sure they understand it. Although this is my biggest complaint, it's not the only one. As somebody who collects games, it bothers me that much of their selection has been moved to new "generic" DVD cases rather than the original game cases, making them less valuable for collecting. Moreover, the staff is rude and unhelpful, conducting business with an attitude that they'd rather be anywhere else but there. Despite their low prices on used games -- their only saving grace, in fact -- I can't recommend Buybacks at all. In fact, I won't be returning until their policies are in line with what the credit card companies require of them. I'm submitting reports, and hopefully a fine or two will take care of that.

This is a very small shop, has more of a thrift store feel than a typical record shop. If you're interested in r-n-b and hip hop this is likely more a four star location for you, because that is definitely what they specialize in. A decent amount of used vinyl, but no rock, pop, or indie selections. No new vinyl, some cassettes. They definitely specialize in 90's r-n-b, hip hop, etc. A lot of singles, probably a really good place if you're a DJ still actually spinning. I found the woman running the shop to be very friendly and charming. Cool overall vibe just a smaller, very specialized shop. You're not going to get the new LCD Soundsystem here but you may find an obscure Color Me Badd 12inch single still sealed. I picked up a nice used copy of Paula Abdul's "Forever Your Girl" LP, the 12 inch of "Opposite's Attract" and a sealed 12in PM Dawn single. Prices were good and all in all a fine experience.

I feel like I can come in here to browse and truly find some great treasures without being overwhelmed. For example, I came in one day to find the entire Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. I picked them up for my husband, and he was beyond excited - they were the covers for the first run of the series which, although not "rare" can be a bit hard to get your hands on. I think I paid about $5 per book, and they're in awesome shape. These are the kinds of special finds I love to come across in second hand bookstores :)
