We were in town overnight and decided to stop here because it's brand new and close to where we…read moreneeded to be. A mixed bag. It is new, so that's a plus, sort of. The rooms are all designed with a full size refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, etc. so you could cook food if you were here for an extended stay. For a new hotel there are quite a number of areas where the finishing is just not done properly, especially for new. The staff are all pleasant. When we checked we were asked if we wanted a 1st, 3rd or 4th floor room. We opted for 4th. When we entered our room, the was a very odd musty, almost mold-like smell but we figured maybe just a 'new hotel' smell. After about 20 minutes the front desk called to see if everything was alright and we thought that was great service . . . until later. After leaving and returning to the room that smell was just bad so we went downstairs and were told 'that's why I called because they said to only use that room as the very last one'! Okay - so they knew there were issues? At any rate we got another room on the 3rd floor. We went out for the evening and came back and there was the moldy type smell still - not as bad as with the first room. Over - room was okay but we woke up with sinus issues due to the moldy smell - something is definitely wrong with here. Our adult kids (who also stayed here) had the same issue. The room has a thermostat on the wall, but it is not connected to anything, and the air-conditioning is from window wall unit that you adjust the temperature at that point. The breakfast buffet was actually pretty good with a decent variety of food, so we can't complain there. For whatever reason they have chosen to make what was clearly designed as a self serve breakfast buffet into a employee gets everything breakfast buffet. This does tend to slow things down. Fortunately, the lady who was working, the Buffay was very helpful and very pleasant, so props to her. Overall, not a bad stay not a great stay. For a new hotel it was a bit surprising not in a good way. They've got to figure out what the musty, moldy smell is in all the rooms or this place will go out of business very quickly.

Work brought me to the valley recently. Loyal to the Marriott brand, I chose TownPlace Suites…read more Pros: Clean hotel. Room had all the amenities, and more (refrigerator, stove, microwave, kitchenette, etc.). Comfortable bed, clean bathroom with a standup shower. Location is convenient with nice restaurants around, grocery stores within a reasonable distance, and quick access to the interstate. Cons: My only complaint was that the room did not stay cool very well. The room had a thermostat on the wall that did not communicate with the window unit very well. I had to manually adjust the temperature on the window unit itself, and it would randomly cool the room off. Many mornings I woke up covered in sweat. I would definitely stay here again. Next time I will address the air conditioning issue if I stay again. I recommend this hotel if your travels bring you to the valley.

The elevators worked smoothly, which I also appreciated. Our room was great. It was already nice and cold when we arrived, smelled clean, and everything looked spotless. The shower had excellent water pressure, and I loved that they provided complimentary Dove products for the shower as well as hand soap and lotion. I'm a big fan of that brand, so that was a nice touch. The towels were also surprisingly soft, unlike the scratchy towels you sometimes get in hotels. The only complaint I have is about the breakfast. When I went down around 8:30 a.m., quite a few items were already empty and not being refilled even though breakfast didn't end until 10:00 a.m. Some of the juice flavors were empty, and several food items were out, so I didn't get to try everything. The tables in the seating area also had crumbs and were a bit sticky. Aside from the breakfast area, everything else was 10/10. The cleanliness, comfort, and overall atmosphere made it a great stay.

The good... Room is spacious Bathroom pocket door gives great access Full size fridge Lots of towels and supplies Reasonable price Pleasant staff The bad.... Thin walls and super noisy, especially if you have a room with link-door to next room No hot plate, only cooking appliance is microwave As another reviewer said, no 'constant' fan speed... annoying Over-synthetic sheets, cheap and clammy, well-worn bed Pool area is directly next to hotel laundry with constant detergent smell Pool area is 100% in the shadow of the building, all day....who's dumbass idea was that? The Ugly Poor water pressure, terrible shower which is my No.1 peeve The market items available at reception are ridiculously expensive, $4.50 for small candy bar! Receptionist should have a gun and mask! Speaking of daylight robbery, the laundry is $3 for wash and $3 for dry in regular small machines (Small load)...the most expensive I've ever seen. And finally, dreadful DREADFUL WIFI, constantly dropping out with single figure Mbps, dial up is quicker, maybe snail mail :-) I will spend a few more bucks and perhaps try somewhere else on my return.

I'll be very honest and say that I had low expectations staying at this hotel during a business…read moretrip but it's actually charming. The hotel itself is quite old, built in the early 1900's. The architecture and style make you feel like you're on Mexican resort. The rooms are cozy, yes they are older but the bed was comfy, you have a fridge, coffee maker and a microwave in your room. And to my surprise, the TV is smart capable so you can watch Netflix and other apps. The gym is small, basically the size of my room. There's 3-4 treads, a scale, and free weights. There are no vending machines on the floors even though there are placards on the halls directing you to one. If you want a snack or soft drink there's a snack shop in the lobby. There's also a restaurant on site that's only open for breakfast and dinner. My only real issue with the hotel is that they have a serious problem with their keycards becoming deactivated. I had to go back to the front desk twice throughout my stay because my key stopped working. It's a known issue, the staff themselves had trouble reprogramming my key and said it's a very old system and the keys are sensitive. Aside from that, it's a solid choice for the area.
