His reputation is based on old merits and he is not the pit bull attorney he supposedly once was. This is all presuming you are paying for your own attorney btw. Over 30 years of marriage and with both college and minor children and I stay at home spouse for a few years, there is so much riding on my divorce outcome for the rest of my life. I interviewed 8 different lawyers. Mr. Cario is the ONLY one who mentioned how alimony had recently changed and I would be looking at paying the tax on alimony payments. That is a huge factor and no one else mentioned it! He asked what I wanted as the outcome: % of custody, house, retirement plan, and other things. He presented me with a brief review of a balanced outcome that might be in my best interest, with options based on what we had just discussed. Of course, he explained if he represented me, this would all be adjusted as information was provided with possible outcomes. He also clarified he takes care of the digging into the details because that is what he is paid for. The entire team at his firm is on top of everything. He also called me from his cell phone when I had a very urgent issue, while he was away dealing with just as serious of an issue for his family. When I apologized for taking him away from his issue, he told me not to worry. I already knew I had made the right decision, that just reinforced it. My outcome was more than I ever hoped for when talking to friends and family who have gone through a divorce before. My only advice for someone looking for a lawyer besides choosing Mr. Cario, do what they ask and provide what they need from you in the time period they recommend. Never have written a review before for anything! I had to for this experience and how well that took care of me. Lawyers can be expensive, yes. Great lawyers are more expensive. Seemed to have ADHD, could not focus during meetings, easily distracted, missed important deadlines and didn't review our file. Asked us not to take notes during meetings (should have been our FIRST red flag) and was irritated when we did. Did NOT let us know he was personal friends with opposing attorney. Likely many illegal practices and illegal advice given to us (stated as law and found out he misled us), incorrect legal guidance, coerced us into "settling" for less than the Florida law allows... ALL to avoid trial (he refused to plan for) which would have been fair for both parties. Told us we would get a credit back (for not going to trial) deceptive and kept 2 retainers, no refund. Errors in final paperwork. Shotty at best. Ethics and morals both questionable. There is a reason he has low ratings on Google. We should have followed their red flag reviews which reflected that this practice was subpar. Stay away from this train wreck. You will be better representing yourself.
