So I was in need of a security system for my new home. After a fall out with ADT (a-holes refused…read moreto give me the lock out code for the alarm that was present in the home from the prior owner - how can that be legal, i gave up arguing after about the 10th phone call). Enter Vialarm. I found them via google. Just so happens that they were also installing the security system in my work. Small world. I have no significant complaints. They are affordable first and foremost. Don't let ADT and the big guys trick you into funky multi year, heavy cancellation penalty contracts. My total security system was 400 bucks and my quarterly monitoring is $50. Now granted I was able to use the existing door and window contacts - this may be where the prices get high, I dunno. The $400 covered a new security panel and labor for the install. My install wasn't without hiccups. I think primarily b/c they don't typically do home security. I think they are trying to branch out from commercial to residential. I had issues with the wireless system and the zone configuration. Basically b/c of a jacked set up I ended up using one of my freebie calls with the police. I think you get two, after that they start charging you. A zone that was no longer active kept pinging - and when the monitoring service couldn't reach me they called the cops. I guess that's good. Well Vialarm and company figured it out and I've been great ever since. Minor annoyance, that at the time was fairly major b/c my alarm was going off at random times. But again, Vialarm as a whole (from owner, to Joyce in the office, to my tech) were awesome trouble shooting and being accessible when I was freaking out on a weekend b/c my alarm would not shut off. Yeah these things only happen to yours truly. LOL

Bought my new alarm before Christmas. It was part of a family gift plan. I wanted the technology…read moreoffered by the national firms, but I wanted to do business with a local firm. The people at Vialarm exceeded my expectations. They don't offer "no cost" alarms. We chose the wireless system from DMP, but got the apps and a video camera along with it (extra) but I travel a lot and can look-in on my daughter when I am out of town. They were prompt, curtious, no up-selling and no pressure. The apps work just as promised. They provided a lot of information prior to the sale (almost too much really) on how to work our alarm, what to expect etc, how to use the system and the apps. They even have some cool videos on their YouTube channel to show you how. If I have learned nothing else, I have learned that you get what you pay for in this world. I have used other vendors in the past, but I would choose them in a minute over the other guys.

Beware of this place. When you get a quote get it in writting…read more I went to have a lock rekeyed and the 1st time is was not done incorrectly. That cost $21.65. Then went I went there he said she should of charge $25.00. He would not honor their work and I did not get a refund. For some reason only one lock was rekey. He said no one was there to do it so leave the locks and they will key them. He said it would be $50.00. He called me back and again on the phone he said $50.00 for both. When I got there to pick up the locks he says I am going to give you a discount and it will cost you $70.00. What happen to the $50.00 charge? I am already out $21.00. I said what happen to the $50.00 charge. I did not argue with him and paid it. We installed the new lock and it would not even work. It would not turn all the way and hard to get the key out. I return the lock to th place I bought it and said this was an espenive lesson $91.65 for something that does not work. I do not even know how they stay in busness when they are not even there half the time. I will not be going back. I would not even have them make a copy of your key. I am sure they would do that wrong as well and they will proably over charge you.
