RG painted the exterior of our home, and did all the extensive prep and repair work. Ray is very personable and a good communicator. He came out initially and walked around the house, taking ample time to explain things to me, following up with a detailed written estimate. The worksmanship and attention to detail is phenomenal. The efficiency of the work was excellent. It was a two man crew, Carlos and Jose, both of whom have been with Ray for 7+ years, and they were on our job not quite two weeks (there was a lot a prep work). They were respectful, considerate, and incredibly hard working. Ray's estimate was more than fair for the job. Ray was on site every other day and was in email/ text/ phone contact more than that. Ray is a family man and he made us feel like family. When the job was done, we were given several days to review the job. We had a MISC type job at our condo. We previously had a full kitchen remodel with removal of several cabinets leaving huge holes that needed to be patched. And we also had our floors redone including stairs which left holes along the stairwell. And we had a sink taken out of our bedroom which also left a huge hole. Now that we are done renovating most of the condo, we needed to find someone that could repair all of these holes and paint. My boyfriend was having a hard time getting anyone to return phone calls to give an estimate. But I made one call to Ray and he came out and gave me an estimate right away. The work was done quickly. Most importantly, they did excellent work. They managed to restore a dilapidated, old, musty condo built in 1956 back to it's former glory. It was original plaster full of cracks and holes - walls and ceilings - but they made them so smooth they're beautiful. Such a finish is an art form. Plus, they repainted all of the cabinetry throughout without complaint of their condition (which was pretty rough). Secondly, they win the award for most professional of my Contractors. The only one that provided a complete Scope of Work, a hard bid with option for change orders, a schedule that they actually stuck to despite COVID and a very responsive Owner. I actually found RG Painting on Yelp. I had a clothing store that needed to be repainted and would be a pretty big job with 30 foot ceilings. Ray's quote was right on and he provided me with references and licenses right away. His team was unstoppable, helping move racks around the store and painting portions day by day so we could still do business (not ideal, I know.) Ray and his crew recently did a fantastic job refinishing/staining our deck and sealing our driveway. Our IPE deck is tough to stain evenly. Ray took the time to review the right products and applied them with perfection. Same with the driveway sealer - and we received comments for days from neighbors and even the mailman saying how good everything looked! My wife and I just purchased our first home in Santa Barbara. It is in a beautiful location but needed a ton of work. We had popcorn ceilings in every room and the interior walls and doors needed all to be repainted. I had 3 contractors coming in providing me with a quote. Ray from RG Painting was recommended to me by my friends who had their entire house painted 3 years ago by Ray. That's when I actually met Ray the first time. What stood out to me was how well his crew prepped the place so no furniture inside would be damaged. He did a beautiful job at my friends house. When I called Ray to come over to my new place he was there the next day. From all the contractors that came to me to give me a quote he took the most time to listen to what we wanted. His quote was also the lowest so we decided to go with Ray. It was a big job that took about two weeks. It included removing the popcorn ceiling and leveling it out which was the biggest job. All interior walls, door and window frames were repainted as well. The result was exactly how we wanted it to be. His crew was friendly and acted like professionals. I wish all contractors would be like Ray's company. We recommended RG Painting to all our friends already. Ray and his team painted the exterior of our home (built in 1988) during October 2016. They did an excellent job and the experience was great and effortless for us. Our home is on a steep hillside and was quite a challenge to paint. It has a stucco finish which had been painted on two sides but never painted on the other two sides. We interviewed about 10 painters. A few declined right away due to the level of difficulty. A few others said that they would try to use ladders for the approx 40' high reaches, from very hilly ground below. Ray did not seem phased at all when he came to assess the job and quote on it. He was very methodical and said right away that he would need to use scaffolding to do his best job. He recommended scaffolding companies, and Rolls Scaffolding out of Ventura did a great job. Ray and his team did a very professional job and there was little need for us to check in on their progress. They were very skilled with prep, stucco repair, cleaning of the house, cleaning up each day, etc. We have some very high exterior walls (40-50' high) which could not be reached from the scaffolding. Ray's team approached these in an efficient and safe manner. Other painters were scratching their heads about these areas, but RG Painting had no issues. Ray himself was very easy to communicate with, and perhaps more responsive than any contractor we have worked with. He was easily reachable via phone, text and e-mail. We will be painting our interior sometime in the future, and RG Painting will be at the top of our list. read more

I just had my home painted by Ray's painter. Because I am very sensitive to paint smells and chemicals, I repeatedly asked Ray to paint with no VOC paints that have minimal or no odor. He assured me he would use these paints, and I would not have a problem with odors or fumes. He finished the job 4 days ago and my bathroom still has a strong paint odor. The fumes must be drifting into the adjacent bedroom, because I wake up with headaches in the AM. I have been forced to move to another bedroom with this particular bedroom/bathroom no longer livable. The worst part of all this is that I have researched the paints he used and have discovered except for one paint he used on the hallway walls, none of them are no VOC paints. When I pointed out to him there was a much better alternative paint for the bathroom (no VOC's) from the same manufacturer he uses (Sherwin Williams), it was obvious to me he clearly was uninformed of this fact. Bottom line: He was not either entirely honest with me or he clearly didn't listen to my preferences despite his assurances. I would strongly advise anyone who is considering using his company to paint your house and have the type of sensitivity to paint that I have, do NOT choose this company. Ray will say all the right things (he is very personable) to make you feel good about him, but unfortunately the result doesn't match the rhetoric. read more
