We are extremely thankful we selected Fresh Coat Painters to paint the exterior of our home in Santa Barbara. We were completely satisfied with the entire process and finished product. We interviewed and received proposals from at least 4 different, highly rated, painting contractors in the Santa Barbara area before deciding to go with Fresh Coat. Their attention to detail - beginning with the proposal itself - was impressive. Since our old wood-sided 2-story bungalow style Santa Barbara house (built in 1911) is a secondary rental home and not our primary residence in the Coachella Valley, we were doing much of the planning of the 4-color scheme and communication long distance, making it more challenging. Justin answered all our many questions and provided helpful information and suggestions throughout the process and could not have been more accommodating. Both Justin and Martin (the co-owners of Fresh Coat) and their crew could not have been more professional and thorough. They were excellent communicators and answered all of our questions. They also brought up areas of concern with the old house and reassured us that the final result would be satisfactory. Since we were making a major color scheme change, we were anxious about how the final result would be. Not only were we happy to see the finished product, we even got positive reviews from the neighbors about the new look and the courtesy and professionalism of the crew. We had other proposals from well-reviewed contractors but felt that Fresh Coat's proposal was the most thorough and detailed and competitively priced. We were very pleased that not only did the job turn out beautifully, but that it was finished on the exact date Justin had estimated for the completion date. The workers arrived promptly on each day and were conscientious of their work and cleanup each day; and they were extremely polite and respectful of our tenants and nearby neighbors. Justin always communicated very well , as did the foreman Martin and they explained the bid and the process well at bid time and then again prior to the project being started answering any questions The bid was comparable to other bids, but we felt the detail of bid breakdown, and explanations were much clearer so there was no confusion about the job or thoroughnesses. We liked the workmanship so well that we had them come back later to do our front exterior wood siding , eaves and trim painting that was desperately needed and then the following year we had them do an interior laundry room project as well as the rest of the exterior, and side and back which consisted of stucco, trim, eaves, doors, and a yard gate. Need painting done? Look no further!! Like so many of the other reviewers here, our home was in dire need of a complete exterior paint job. We were looking for more than just a touch-up; we're talking peeling, cracked paint that was several years old. We had also recently had some repairs and improvements done, so there was new wood and raw stucco mixed in amongst the older paint. We reached out to Justin at Fresh Coat on the advice of a friend, and we were not at all disappointed. Justin owns the company, but handled the prep portion of our project personally. We felt a great sense of security with the way Justin managed our job, from the initial consult, walk-around, and proposal to our color consultation and finally the job itself, which was managed by his project foreman, Martin. They are both knowledgable and experienced in their industry. You can tell they both take great pride in the work they do and the business they've built. Justin's input in particular during the color consultation was invaluable. We had a funny logistical detail that we lobbed at Justin, but he rolled with it like a pro. After weighing our options, we decided to have our front doors replaced rather than paint them, but that also created an issue: The doors wouldn't be installed in time for the job date we had set. We were reluctant to move forward with the job if we'd have to tear apart the front door after it had been nicely painted. Justin suggested that his guys come back and finish the trim work around the door after the install. Sure enough, a few days after our front door was replaced, the Fresh Coat crew was back to wrap up the front door casing. True professionals. The job itself took a little over a week to complete. Martin and his crew were extremely thorough, stripping old peeling paint, sealing up cracks and separations, and priming surfaces. The products they use are top quality. While the older paint job we were replacing felt cheap and flakey, the new paint on the house feels substantial, like it has some real weight to it. We're not worried at all about the elements now; we feel like we have a weatherproof home. I think what struck me the most was the extraordinary communication we got from Fresh Coat. I don't think there was a single time we contacted Justin or Martin and didn't get a reply back within an hour. Moreover, Justin is extremely thorough attentive to detail, as I believe has been mentioned countless times in other reviews here. I don't think I've ever received such a well put-together proposal for a home improvement project. If I had a question or a concern, it was addressed quickly and completely. Overall, we're very pleased with the job Justin, Martin, and the crew at Fresh Coat did for our house. Justin, Martin and the Fresh Coat team exceeded my expectations on a full exterior prep and painting of my Santa Barbara residence that had its original 30-year-old paint. First impressions are everything. When I made an appointment for a quote, Justin made it a point to say, "I will be on time." And he was. After we completed discussing needs and ideas, he told me I'd have a written estimate within two hours. And it was in my email within an hour. [The other two written estimates took 5-7 days to receive.] It was clear Fresh Coat wanted my business. As questions arose in comparing to the other estimates, Justin was extremely responsive and forthcoming and never gave me a "hard sell" or pushed for a decision. The actual work was performed to a very high quality, within the timeframe originally estimated. The painters were timely, professional and polite, and they cleaned up at the end of each day. Co-owner Martin managed the day-to-day work and was extremely responsive to my questions and items needing attention. During my final walk-through with Martin after the painters had left the site, we developed a punch list of misc. follow-up items. I asked Martin when he thought they would be able to finish these items, to which he replied, "I'm not leaving here today until they are all done." And he called in some assistance, and everything was completed that day. Martin also indicated they will happily return if I notice any other items that need attention. While Justin was not involved in the day-to-day work, he continued to be extremely responsive to any questions I had throughout. The customer service was outstanding on all fronts. (As a business owner myself who serves corporate clients, I have high standards and expectations - which were met/exceeded by Fresh Coat.) The workers do not respect your home and spill paint on the floor and don't tell you until confronted about it. You have to constantly point out their mistakes or they won't fix them. My house hadn't been painted in more than ten years, 15+ is probably more realistic if I'm guessing. It had fallen into a state of disrepair to put it nicely and I needed help. We had cracked wood, rotted boards, holes in the stucco, peeling paint chips as big as your hand and for whatever reason someone also made the design choice at one point to add a brick facade so now three different textures and multiple colors. Justin was helpful and communicative and always on time. He walked me through the whole process before it started and any time I had a question he got back to me almost immediately.
