I have to say, this is a beautiful store to walk through. Never been in the store before and thought we would pop in for some window shopping and to see what it was like. There is such a large variety of furniture to look at. The way they set up each floor is like walking through multiple dining rooms, bedrooms, and living rooms. If I remember correctly, I believe there are 5 floors. They even have an open rooftop with outdoor furniture and a nice view of University village. There are stairs but also an elevator. There was someone who greeted us as the door, but after that there appeared to be no associates walking the floor. Maybe it's be reservations? My wife and have bought about $60,000 worth of furniture from this store. We paid the annual membership fee a few times now and the last designer service ruined it completely for us. We've been wanting to get more furniture from the store, but our previous experience keeps preventing us from doing the. The designer we had last time kept on belittling the fact we're approaching her for a small set of furniture with a budget of 10 - 15k. She kept telling us the budget is too small for her to design and implied more than once we are wasting her time. She told us, we should have just ordered from the website without involving her at all. My wife and I just only wanted a professional to validate our color choice and how a few pieces match together or not. I'm not sure why I'm paying $550 a year AND spending 10 - 15K for someone to make my wife and I feel this way. I won't recommend the designers here to anyone who's looking for the service. read more

I know that people who are unhappy tend to write reviews, but I'm amazed when I see negative reviews for Restoration Hardware. Not only are their products superlative, but our experience with their customer service is almost not to be believed, it was so good. We bought a sofa, and we love it. But, what we didn't really pay attention to was the taco effect of the fabric we chose. For months since we bought it, RH at U village in Seattle has been helping us to determine how to handle it. I'm frankly blown away with the over the top concern and efforts they have made to make it right for us. And they did. I won't go into the details, but frankly, if I was on the other side of me, I would have told me to shut up and sit down. They instead treated us like royalty. We have purchased many pieces from RH in the last 3 years. Most are falling apart. I have two slipcovered linen sofas. When we took the covers off to have them cleaned all the down was falling out of rips in the undercovers the cotton fabric is so thin that it is ripping in many places. I will never buy another piece from Restoration hardware. It makes me sad because we were very good customers buying all our outdoor furnishings and these two sofas, lighting, bedding and much more over the years. We have had these two sofas for only 3 years and are a household with two people so they get light use. I won't ever buy an upholstered piece again from RH. Surprisingly such low stars. My experience was good. We recently brought a new home in Seattle and were looking to getting furniture for our home. The king size bed is so good and so is the leather sofa and coffee table. The quality and feel is so rich , worth the price and looks . Why did it take me so long to find this place? It's my new favorite home store! So many great ideas that are as beautiful as they are functional under one roof. High tech meets excellent customer service with the associates wandering around with iPads looking for opportunities to help. Seriously - customer service associates with iPads - brilliant idea! They can look up styles, colors, inventory, sales prices, etc. all with a few taps on the iPad right then and there wherever you are on the showroom floor. Then they can follow up immediately by printing or emailing you a shopping list and quote of the pieces you're interested in - very impressive and VERY convenient! I'm in the market for new dining furniture right now and feel like I've looked all over! High and low, the good, bad and the ugly looking for design ideas. It's tough to find just the right piece in the right size, color, price range and shipping timeframe that we need. I was next door at PB and was pretty much ignored the entire time I was there. So walking into RH and being greeted by associate Texiara was a breath of fresh air! She was so helpful, friendly and gave me some great ideas. I showed Texiara a small picture on my phone of our dining room space and gave approximate dimensions - then she asked me a few questions about how we would use the room - were we looking for something only for special occasions? Or maybe something for everyday that would be easy to clean? She made an effort to connect with me and get to know a little more about what I'm looking for. Texiara gave me some extremely helpful tips about matching vs blending wood colors in the same room. I was so overwhelmed with the options for the past few months. But after one 20 minute visit with Texiara and I feel like I have a lot more clarity on what we're looking for. Certainly we're headed in the right direction now! Looking around the store and talking to a few other employees during my visit was more of the same. Ready to help, eager to answer any questions and they seem genuinely interested in our little project. I was surprised to hear that the employees are not paid on commission - but then maybe that's why the atmosphere was so delightful and comfortable instead of the usual stress and pressure I've felt at other stores. Restoration Hardware was a new a pleasant shopping experience for sure! Wish their prices were a little more in my project range but then sometimes you get what you pay for. If you're going to complain about the $199-$249 delivery then this isn't your store. Otherwise, very happy w the quality and customer service has been helpful also w a couple exchanges. Note: Purchased all online not through the store. Once they delivered a broken console table, the delivery team took notice of it themselves, took photos, and called customer service themselves. 5 minutes after RH called me to process the exchange and I asked for a different console instead and she said no problem. They let me keep the old console and picked it up at the same time the new one was delivered within 2 weeks. Easy peezy. NOTE: also love the fact that RH delivery team ALWAYS take off their shoes or put shoe covers on when entering our home. RH White glove service is priceless! Evil, wasteful, yuppie shopping, at it's finest. If you've never been to one of these stores, they basically carry a huge variety of interior design elements. From simple things like paint and hardware to full on dining sets and matching drape/pillow sets. The concept is okay, but it basically has two major flaws. The one if that it lacks creativity. While a lot of their merchandise is beautiful and stuff I would love to get. It really has no soul and the style is so marketed and boring that it has the reverse effect that it wants. The desired effect of bringing sophistication and unique beauty to your house becomes another cookie cutter yuppie house with no personality. The second is the price. You sure pay a handsome price for soulless design. I feel bad for people that don't realize you can achieve similar looks or even the same for way less. And that if you are going to spend that kind of money, spend it on art you love to fill your home with. And that's really the best you can get from this place. It's great for giving you design ideas when you are stumped and looking for contemporary, modern schemes. Of course it's also good for cheating and grabbing an item once in a while. But you can get a better price for similar items at other stores. It simply offers you a good leaping off point for your own ideas. I still love just about everything in this store, but this time after we ordered close to 6000 in furniture I was less than impressed to say the least. Let me explain, so we stopped in looking for big furniture for our new house. Our rooms are big and the one thing RH has is big, comfy furniture. Their prices are on the higher side, but being a repeat customer I did not waste time making my second purchase from them. We went back in forth deciding what we wanted and during lunch we called the gentlemen we worked with and ordered our stuff. Prior to us leaving RH and before lunch he informed us it was in stock and would be about 2 weeks. So off we went... About two weeks later, no money taken out of my account, so I called RH. I found out that my debt card had a max limit which was exceeded by our purchase, no problem I called our bank and had that changed. The wife also called earlier in the day asking about the furniture; by the way everyone gave us different answers regarding why the furniture was not ordered. The next morning not one pending charge for 6K but two, yeap 12K. Thankfully we sold our house and had some extra money. So I called back they said it would be fixed in a few days and then the informed me that our furniture would be with us in 2 weeks. Now we were at 4 weeks. I was angry and asked if somehow this could be fixed and they informed me they would get back to me. Right!! I am now in Alaska for work, wife is calling and getting no where and still getting different answers and explanations. She finally talks to a manager and she said she would call her the next morning. Next day comes and goes no call from anyone at RH. I call still in Alaska and told this same manager that I had enough and wanted the furniture delivered immediately or cancel the order and I also wanted some type of reimbursement for our troubles. She said she was extremely sorry and would get something figured out immediately and would either call my wife tonight or first thing in the morning. First thing in the morning the wife gets a call from the manager, furniture on the way and she would work on our rebate. After another brief argument with the independent delivery service our furniture was sitting in our house about 2 1/2 weeks after we ordered it. What was our reimbursement for our troubles, 200 dollars for the moving expensive. I found it to be somewhat of an insult, but obviously this is what RH thought was acceptable. The end of the story...Well we were in the biggest RH gallery in the Denver , Cherry Creek mall and told our story to one of the leads. She asked me to write a brief summary and she would see what she could do because she did not want this experience to leave a bad impression on us. So we will see where this will end. I do love their stuff, but there really seems to be a training issue with some of the folks, you would think they would concentrate on training and customer service being that they just saw their first quarterly decline in key sales figures since going public. read more

This is an impressive setup for sure. They have an unbelievable amount of merchandise and a crackerjack staff of well-trained salespeople who know the stock and the store and the style cold. Everything here is nice, high-quality furniture, except for all the nice, high-quality housewares. What stands out typically is how huge the pieces are that they choose--floor lamps literally 7 feet tall and 3 feet wide, or more, at the base. How big do the rooms in your house really need to be for you to choose pieces like this? They're immense. But there's a certain amount of style to a lot of the pieces, that's for sure, and if that style happens to be your style, this place will hook you up without a doubt. read more

we purchased a sofa for $3400 and ottoman and chair for additional 2K and when the fabric ans stitching went bad in LESS THAN A YEAR, piled like a bad sweater, we were told "that's the fabric". I've had numerous sofas, never paid this much and NEVER had it pile? They said how great it repels stains, never mentioned the piling, but now says its normal. Really? My husband and I are in the market for a new office chair, and we were walking around this store looking for one. A sales associate came up to us and asked if she could help, and I asked if they had any office chairs we could look at. She said they only had two, and they were both about $900. Then she added, and I quote, "They're not going to be your Ikea quick fix - these are chairs for when you're ready to be an adult." It was completely uncalled-for, rude, and judgmental. My husband and I were not being obnoxious or inappropriate in any way that would warrant such a comment. We were just quietly walking around the store looking around when she asked us if she could help and decided to drop that line. I was so taken aback, and we immediately left the store feeling frustrated and insulted. My husband and I are at a point where we are starting to buy nicer furniture to replace the hand-me-downs and Ikea pieces we have, so for the record, she was also wrong about us. My boyfriend & I had been shopping for hours looking for a dining room table for our new home. We accidentally stumbled into RH right before they closed & were greeted by a young man at the entrance who asked if we had been there before. When we said we had not, he explained to us how the store worked & explained what we would find on each level & that everything we saw would be at the most grand scale but we could always order a smaller size. We ended up finding a dining table that gave us that "this is the one" feeling. We found an associate who was so pleasant & helpful. We asked to see different colors & sizes. She even pulled out her tape measure so I could see & feel what the size I wanted would look like. Because it was such an expensive table we decided to take the weekend to think about it. She emailed me all the information about the table, the color, size, price etc. so I could reference it if needed. A couple days later when we returned the gentleman who greeted us at the entrance remembered us. We elected to wait for our sales associate to finish up with the person she was helping so we could buy our table directly through her. She also suggested we sign up for the membership because for $100 we ended up saving ~$700 on our purchase. She also recommended we check out the RH outlet for discounted furniture. When we ordered the table we had not received the keys to our new home yet. After we paid for the table, the delivery service called me the next day to schedule the delivery for the day after we moved into our home. The delivery company was timely & took great care in carrying & installing our furniture. We did end up going to the outlet & ended up finding a beautiful 300lb blue marble coffee table for 60% off the original price. Our experience was so incredible. Yes the furniture is expensive but the quality of the items we purchased was superior to any of the other furniture stores in U Village that we looked at. The style of the furniture was a perfect blend of mine & my boyfriends style. The customer service & delivery service was smooth & seamless. 20 copies of the same gaudy chandelier on display, but they can't be bothered to have anything from the other 95% of their catalogue available to see. They've got plenty of space! What's the point of this store? It's like they care more about their creepy store design than actually helping anyone make a purchase decision. The sales person who helped us was also using the "please buy stuff or I'll lose my job" angle, which got old fast. We ended up having to return the items we ordered, because they looked different than expected. Non-refundable: $100 membership, $100 for shipping method 1, $100 for shipping method 2 (apparently UPS can't be trusted to ship this item, and somehow this is my problem?). And, for some reason, only some of the items can actually be returned at the store. As if they don't get delivery and pickup service there... What a bizarre place. I guess all the non-refundable fees help subsidize these weird, cavernously empty stores that they open in prime locations. read more

At least museum docents are happy to talk with you about an artwork on display. Not your staff. It was difficult to get beyond a yes/no response and an arm direction. I am furnishing a new home. Acceptable products. Unacceptable customer service. We purchased draperies (several thousand $ worth) , and it was the worst customer service experience we had. RH works with The Share Store (TSS) to do measurement and installation. It turned out that TSS didn't measure our windows correctly, which was the beginning of our horrible experience with RH. After the second measurement, RH ordered draperies. It took about 3 months for them to arrive. When TSS came to install them, they said RH ordered wrong items. RH and TSS were pointing fingers to each other, the worst experience for a customer to have to see. After weeks, RH figured out they had to order extra items, so it seems RH made a mistake, but they never admitted it. Once the draperies were installed, they we too long! They made very visible, ugly wrinkles at the bottom. So, we requested for resized draperies, which they agreed to do with no extra charge. But the problem was that it took us 5 months to get the resized draperies. Finally, they came and were installed okay. But our RH saga was not over. RH requested that we return the old draperies, but it took us weeks to schedule a pick-up with numerous phone calls and emails, very frustrating. Whenever I requested for more smooth transactions, our consultant's response was either very defensive or blaming others like TSS. If you don't want to deal with bad customer service, I recommend you consider other stores. read more

The two stars are for the fabulous oxblood red "clouds" couch we purchased. The sales lady was fine, no complaint there-except we weren't given any information on how to clean and upkeep the $15k couch. RH and whatever bank they use kept screwing up our paperwork and our credit. Neither knew how, what, where, etc. This inept process kept us from receiving our couch even though we had paid half the bill at the time. We finally got it 3+ weeks later. We have the couch and we love it. Be warned that the service for both sales and finance are substandard and you will be frustrated. As soon as we walked in, a blonde woman asked why we're there to which I said just looking around. My friend wanted to take a selfie on one of the mirrors. I LOVE the furnishings and decor from RH - as giant, oversized, luxe, and 'Chet's castle' as they are. I just wish the service was even a tenth as good as the designs - what gives? As someone in the industry (part-time designer) I realize that the bulk of their sales come from industry sources and large projects. That said, it should go without saying that the experience for the 'everyday people' - especially when they're considering dropping $15k+ on a couple sofas, tables and lights - should at least be cordial, pleasant and not a battle-to-pickup-merchandise I made the mistake of thinking I was getting some AMAZING deals on a few place settings, wine glasses and assorted accessories when the old location was closing. Not so much. Between conflicting information from salespeople about when I could take things home, what was still available vs what was already sold, and a general chaotic environment, the cost for my time - to figure out the mess in which they left me - has well surpassed any dollar savings on the products. To make it worse, I attended the opening party for the new store - fabulous - and had a great time. When I returned two days later (in the timeframe specified by the salesperson from the clearance sale at the old store) to pick up the items I purchased that were on display at the time, I was told that I "would be contacted with a window in which I could pick them up OVER THANKSGIVING WEEKEND." Umm... sorry - you mean Black Friday or the weekend following? In University Village? With 2 parking spaces for every 44 cars on a normal weekend? Not so much - you can keep the merch if that's the case. "Could I perhaps pick them up the following week, during the day, when I might actually be able to pull into the center, and find parking?" No, because "we turn the building back over to the management company." "I was here the other day for the party and spoke to someone (a VP, who gave me her card, which I humbly did NOT mention) who mentioned there being a TON of staff this week, for the opening... do you think there's any chance someone could run over to that store with me and grab my things? It's literally 3 bags - no furniture or anything large..." Nope. While at least 4 associates looked on, bored, from the room we were in (never mind the dozen+ others in the other dozen rooms on four floors), the SA took my number, promising the merchandise pickup agent would contact me within 48-hours. It's been 3 days and obviously I haven't received a call. Guess how likely I am to put down cash for RH goods for my new house next month? (Hint: not so much.) read more

There's two sides to this story. First of all the store itself and the employees in it are OK (probably in the 3-4 star range). The selection is decent, the presentation works for me, and generally the employees are helpful and friendly (if you can get their attention - occasionally they seem too focussed on hovering over each other by the main counter). I went in there to find and purchase quite a few lights for a bathroom remodel, and found some I liked. As usual, they were pricey, but they worked with the design I had in mind and looked good. When I went on to order them they didn't have them in stock. First thing that made me raise an eyebrow. I understand not having huge items such as dining room tables or wardrobes in stock, but these lamps (wall mounted) weren't exactly taking up a lot of space. OK, so I ask to order them. Oh great, they're on sale so I save roughly 40-50 bucks for each of them. Now for the fun part. They wanted 40 bucks for shipping. Seriously? I asked if they could ship it to the store and I'll pick them up, but no they don't do that (they only ship to the home address). It was at this point that I walked out without proceeding with the order. In this day and age and with so many companies waiving shipping and handling fees if you order above a certain dollar threshold, it's almost antiquated if not rude to want shipping and handling paid for by the customer on top of that, especially if you're already leaving almost a thousand bucks for the products! I can understand that (hopefully) superior delivery service (which I presume they have, since they present themselves in this segment) does come at a price, but they also have a price point for their products that should make it possible to absorb that cost to a certain extent. I ended up ordering different lamps (that, in retrospective, looked even better) for less money on Amazon for free shipping. Again, the store itself was OK but the company policies on shipping & handling are a bit ridiculous. read more

Some of the negative reviews left here on Yelp seem to be coming from people who are already feeling uncomfortable about the idea of investing in quality pieces, or from people who need to feel "welcomed" into what I will admit is a place that feels a little like Bruce Wayne's house, or from people who need to feel like someone is attentively waiting on them hand and foot and providing "good customer service". Flew in to order a couch for Boise. Found the couch we had been wanting, ordered it and left within an hour. This store does try to be a gallery instead of a hodge podge of all RH things. However, they did have the exact couch we wanted - so it's a win for me. I got to test it. The attendant was helpful and rang me up efficiently. Yes we got the membership which rocked for Holiday gifts. Also paid for the $450 white glove delivery - since we are in Boise and that was the only option. First of all, this review isn't specific to this location but a review of RH in general. I honestly have never even visited this store. We just shopped online but called this store for help regarding an issue. The issue was that we purchased a coffee table and a membership in order to get a significant discount on the coffee table. (It was well worth it, trust me.) When we looked at our bank transaction history the next day, we saw that there were two pending charges for the coffee table and another two for the membership. One charge for the coffee table and one charge for the membership went through a few days later, but the two other pending charges remained for a week. We disliked that a ton because it lowered our available funds temporarily when we were moving into a new home and buying so much stuff. The folks at this store were polite and professional, but apart from explaining that the remaining pending charge for each item was for authorization purposes, they couldn't help. It wasn't wrong of them to do it either, apparently. It sounds like it's okay for someone to put pending charges on your bank account for seven days. STILL! Other than that, I'm in love with RH! Everything here is incredibly sexy -- LOTS of character -- and extremely well-made! It's not cheap, that's for sure, but as with many things in life, you get what you pay for. Our coffee table is one stunningly beautiful, heavy block of real wood with artful metal pieces and a large storage space. We are very happy with it, and the delivery guys took care of it and made sure everything was as we expected. We'll probably find ourselves buying something from RH again in the future. My husband and I came in today to look for coffee tables. The place was a "morgue." When my husband inquired about one of the tables, we were told that we would have to be put on a waiting list to speak to an associate! We actually thought that she was joking. Poor Customer Service and Business Practices! I purchased a few towel sets almost two weeks ago from the store. First, I had to ask for assistance although there were few other customers in the store. I was told the store was out of one of the colors of towels, but that they would have them shipped to my home. Ok, fair enough. Two transactions happened at the register, one for the towels in hand and the other for the ones being shipped. The transaction for the ones shipped was done entirely behind the counter and nothing appeared on the customer screen. I was told I would receive a confirmation email and that my towels would arrive by Friday of that week. When I received the email, I was surprised to find they had charged me shipping! Seriously?! It has been my experience with other retailers that items ship free if it is due to a lack of inventory from a brick and mortar store! Then, none of my order arrived by the end of the week, as quoted by the sales person! It wasn't until the following Tuesday that some of my order arrived! The packing slip indicated that the rest of my items were on back order. Why wasn't this disclosed to me earlier?! It has been 11 days since I visited the RH store. Still waiting for the rest of my order. I just received an email with a tracking number saying they will arrive next week Tuesday. Great :(. I have guests arriving tomorrow who will be without towels! I gave RH 2 stars because their towels are indeed very soft and plush, but similar towels can be found elsewhere. Next time, I'm not giving my business to RH! read more

On one of my visits to RH I was greeted by Courtney Connor - - the BEST of the best at interior design! My wife and I recently purchased a home and needed ideas on how to make it our own. After a few meetings with Courtney she understood what it was we wanted and really ran with it. She was very enthusiastic and filed with creative ideas. The first project was the family room. Art work, lighting and some new furnishings were to be added. Through the use of visuals and by offering ideas and refining my plans the project started falling into a cohesive whole. The next adventure was the living room. Starting with a clean slate she created a room that is peaceful, comforting and makes us smile each time we enter. Wall color, widow coverings, lighting and art work all blend together to create my favorite room in the home. The visuals she created made the project a reality. Go to RH and sit in the cloud couch and tell me it's not the most rediculously comfortable sofa on the planet... Courtney is talented, candid and gracious. In touch from the inception of a project to it's completion. Tamara was also a rock star in Courtney's absence and stepped in to make sure things were smooth. WORST experience. The employees are so rude and not helpful at all. I felt like a burden even being in the store! Try saying hi maybe. If you're feeling especially generous, you could try asking if I need help finding anything. I went here with the intent of furnishing my new apartment, but I'll be going elsewhere! read more
