It had a Pokémon Go stop and I selected it and learned what I drove by. I wasn't too concerned going here on Memorial Day weekend because Parkland isn't a place that brings in tourism and is definitely a 'hood. For a nature preserve Parkland Prarie is pretty small but it's very pleasant nonetheless. We saw lots of wildflowers and that was very pleasant as we strolled on the paths and got perfumed whiffs of the blooms. We saw no wildlife but that's one of those things where you can't see them but they can see you and it may all be due to timing but I wouldn't think it would attract a plethora of wildlife as it is surrounded by homes but wild animals that have been born and raised in the city aren't easily startled so it's totally possible to see deer or foxes or anything of that sort here. With all of the flowers though it would attract birds for sure. Parkland Prarie was a nice little stroll and walking on the couple of looped dirt trails doesn't take much time at all and there are reading plaques along the way to learn more about the plants and animals that take an interest coming here.

Parkland Prairie is a 4.5 acre urban nature preserve right near Pacific Lutheran University. There…read moreis a short loop gravel trail throughout that is around half a mile. I stopped by to go on a morning walk and see all the beautiful wildflowers in bloom right now. There is a lot of different native plants here as well. Parking is just in the gravel lot right out front or free street parking. There is no restrooms, but there are doggy bags if you want to bring your dog(s) for a walk. There are also several log benches to sit if you need a break or just want to enjoy the views and see all the birds that are out. Overall: it was very peaceful here in the early morning and only a couple other people were out walking when I was there. There was a homeless man near the creek, but that is typical for this area. I wanted to mention though because I know not everyone is used to it or may be from this area of town.

Chambers Creek Regional Park is one of my favorite places throughout the year. They have a wide…read morerange of activities at this park, such as golfing, biking, skateboarding, walking, running, picnicking, kite flying, and beer festivals. There's a pretty lengthy trail close to the street that also leads to the Chambers Bay Grill. At the grill, they host special events, weddings, and personal celebrations. The Grill has an average set of drinks on tap and a pretty decent food menu as well as outdoor seating for those who want to continue to take in the breathtaking views around the park. Additionally, there are several strategically placed Scenic Overlook/viewpoint areas where you can sit, take in a magnificent view of the sound and landscape of the golf course. I usually come here at least 2-3 times a month to walk down the steep decline to the golf course area/trail over to a bridge that extends slightly into the sound. Here is my meditative space - somewhere I can go for some quiet reflection.

Looks like there is a small trickly water feature going into the pond (wasn't very high on this day so it was hard to get an idea of the full effect). Well maintained, somewhat busy when we were there on a weekend but not so much that you couldn't take your time and enjoy a short walk around the park.

This beauty is 70 acres and full of lush green trees . Easy trail with no incline. This secluded area made me feel like I was miles and miles away from the city. Very quiet. It was a nice change of scenery for someone like me that lives in humid Orlando, Florida.

Lots of trees in the area so it's pretty easy to choose a time that'll keep you in the shade. Some green space, but it's pretty slanted so it's not good for any sort of sports. This is the place to park near if you want to go through the natural area. The trails in the natural area are very well maintained and pleasant to walk on. This area is apparently salmon bearing, but I'm really questioning how they get though as some of the areas I saw looked completely blocked with debris from a fishy standpoint. I suppose time will tell? If the salmon do come through this area, it's definitely a great place to get a close look! Trail had some muddy areas, but overall it wasn't too bad. Great area in a great neighborhood!

Fuve Mile Drive is a five mile loop that takes you…read morefurther back into the park and where you can get views of the Narrows Bridge and Puget Sound. As you stroll through you will encounter raccoons and deer in which they aren't afraid of you in the slightest. The raccoons look like you should give them a snack which you should not. Even though they may not run from you they are still wild animals and should not be pet or fed human food. When I first moved to the area you could drive Five Mile Drive every time you went to the park practically but in recent times the road is often closed and walking it is encouraged instead.

Sometimes you want to go for a hike...and sometimes you want a scenic drive. The Five Mile Drive was a perfect solution-I got to see gorgeous views from the comfort of my car. Of course, there are many ways to enjoy this five mile stretch of road. Cars are welcome (pay attention to times-the road closes to motor vehicles at certain times/days), or you can walk, bike or jog the road. There are several scenic overlook areas along the road, so you can pull off and take a look beyond the road. The whole thing really is beautiful. Drive carefully and slowly. Pay attention to those around you. There's plenty of space for everyone, as long as we all are considerate of each other. And enjoy those views!

Overall a nice park in UP! There's a steep, one-way road that goes down to the park, so the sooner…read moreyou clear it the less likely you are to run into another car going the other direction! Tiny parking lot at the bottom, maybe 8 spots? Enough room to maneuver a truck, but it's tight! There's a very well built building right next to the parking lot with bathrooms, tables, and a grill. Right next to the creek so it's an awesome spot to pull up a seat and enjoy the shade! As you leave the parking lot and go through the ravine, you'll have a fairly nice short walk with no elevation gain. Go over the bridge and up the hill and you hit the edge of the park. Take the first steep hill on the right before the bridge and you'll be sent through the trail system. Very nicely maintained stairs and boardwalks. Be warned that the stairs are steep! A few times I felt like I was climbing attic stairs, it's definitely not disability friendly. Overall it's a great place to hide from the sun and I'll definitely be back!
