Why a review of a hospital?…read more A family member recently had to have a serious operation. Let me start over and say, a family member recently had an operation here at this hospital. We all know every operation is serious. With this being said, let me state how the family member, and the remainder of the family, were treated at this hospital. UCHealth - Medical Center of the Rockies is a beautiful hospital, or Medical Center. After parking, we walked up to the building, and WOW! Beautiful! Impressive! Oh, parking is free in the large private parking lot. Walking into the building, WOW! Again, WOW! Beautiful interior! It was a hospital or Medical Center, yet it didn't feel or look like a hospital or Medical Center. This is the way hospitals should be. The landscape is beautiful, and rightfully reflects Colorado. The interior is sleek, pretty, yet not overstated. I knew why I was there, as my family member was having surgery that morning, but it didn't feel like that, it is hard to explain. With the facility not feeling like a hospital, it seemed to take away some of the stress of the surgery. Employees certainly tried to make us as comfortable as possible, under the circumstances. The waiting areas were comfortable and quiet as well. Every need was met by the employees/staff, or met as could be possible. Patient privacy was certainly kept and HIPAA laws were followed. The cafeteria is nice, with plenty of food options, and the food was good. The cafeteria is large, with plenty of seating for everyone. There is an outdoor seating area, which is not like most outdoor seating areas. As previously stated, the landscape of the facility rightfully reflects Colorado. This extended seating area has plenty of nooks and crannies, so you can eat privately, rest, and relax. I won't say anything else, except if you have to be at the facility for any reason, check out the outdoor seating area located just off of the cafeteria. There are some restaurants around the area, close to the hospital. There are also several shopping centers around, with convenient stores (such as Target) to purchase any needed items that you forgot to bring with you, so don't worry about that. Care was top notch! Absolutely no complaints here. The doctors and nursing staff were wonderful, committed, and really care. Questions were answered, special care and follow-up were given, and nothing had been left undone, or no questions answered. UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies, is an excellent hospital. I'm very glad my family member had their surgery at this location. Thank you to UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies, for the excellent work and care of all of us. It's truly, truly appreciated.

My father was in a motorcycle accident and in ICU for 6 days. The care in the ICU was outstanding…read more However, yesterday he went to a step down unit, and they are horrible. No one at the nursing station, took over an hour to get a call light answered. Then Aaron the charge nurse yelled at myself and my sister in the hallway. He was trying to state the rules but in the rudest and unprofessional way, his face was bright red and clearly already in an agitated state. My father was in a serious accident and we as family are stressed and sleep deprived, I would think that a nurse would have the professionalism to speak to families in a respectful and caring way. Aaron did not, as someone who works in health care, I would never have someone like Aaron representing my facility. My father's call light was on for over an hour and no one came in, but Aaron is concerned about how many people are in the room, and that I did try to go through an door that someone excited that was connected to the unit, but did not. I did not think it was that big of an issue since the doors go to the same unit, however do understand why it would be an issue. Aaron could have approached the situation in a more professional way and spoken to myself and my sister like adults and not children. I am even more concerned that a nurse would show his agitation towards a family, how are the patients treated? Does he get irritated with them? I am also concerned that I was told I would be kicked out and not be allowed back, so now feel I cannot bring up concerns. The one is only due to the step down unit. The trauma unit and ICU would get 5. However, one person can ruin something.
