We went to Elmwood Theater to see Dune. We needed proof of vaccination (that was important to us), and a mask to enter. I like that Elmwood is a vintage theater. It has been around for over 100 years. It has style. When you go, make sure to check out the bathrooms. We also found the seats quite comfortable, and the staff is friendly. Also, I liked how clean and well maintained the grounds are. Something that could use improvement is the sound insulation. In the quiet parts of our movie, we could hear explosive sounds from the other theater. I recommend going to Elmwood Theater!

    Super small theater

Berkeley's only remaining commercial movie theater. Somewhat dated with very small screens, but fun to go to.

The whole place felt small and honestly not worth making a trip for. What really made it worse was the staff behavior. One worker or volunteer took a photo of us and then awkwardly hid behind a wall, which was unsettling. Another staff member kept staring at us the entire time, then eventually approached to say we couldn't have a water bottle inside and had to check it at the front desk. That would have been fine if the front desk had mentioned it in the first place. The inconsistency just added to the uncomfortable atmosphere. Overall, not worth the visit at all. If you are deciding between museums, Oakland Museum of California is much better and a far more enjoyable experience.

This is all thanks to making one of the best decisions yet-- hiring Saúl of Cross my Heart Films. When I was searching for someone to make our video, I chanced upon CMHF on Google and was one of the top searches. I visited his IG and immediately knew we needed him. It was love at first sight. He was able to capture the classy, vintage and fun vibe we were aiming for. He stood out among the many searches we made. His creativity is unmatched. We trusted him with the entire process, and I am glad we did. He has a unique way of capturing love through his lenses. People who watched the video commented they were smiling the entire time. That's because Saúl made us feel comfortable to be our authentic selves. Up to this day, I keep watching the video on repeat myself. It makes me feel so good and happy and excited to get married. Saúl nailed it! He even accommodated many of our requests, even if it meant having to finish the video sooner than his lead time. His expertise is well-worth our money. 100/10 highly recommend if you're looking for someone who has a unique and heartwarming take in making your wedding video.

Both of us felt so comfortable around him, and that relaxed, natural energy really shines through in the final video. You can genuinely feel the joy and emotion in every frame. His energy is exactly the type of energy you want on your special day.

THE CITY CLUB BAR…read more John treated me ! Thanks Johnny boy!! I started with a Gin Martini 2 olives & a twist on ice ... Unfortunately the ice wasn't in cubes so the flavor was so watered down that I couldn't taste the gin at all...We then were served some great little warm breads with delicious butter YUM! The split mixed iceburg lettuce salad arrived which was a generous portion & well dressed with some notes of tarragon ..nice! John ordered the braised short rib & he subbed out the mashed potato/roquefort for the fried potato disks that came with the rib eye. Good spuds! My beef bourguignon had wonderful toothsome wide egg noodles but weirdly, chunks of green pepper & undercooked pearl onions? The beefy gravy was perfect on the pasta BUT the beef's texture was terrible.. mushy without a smidgen of bite! YUCK! When John had me taste his beef the resuts were much the same... too soft & textureless.. then the opposite...the pretty split carrot halves were too hard & undercooked on his plate to bring out their sweetness....I assume these 2 long cooked meats styles had been sitting for god knows how long I left most of the dinner to take home & see if I could repair the dish... (I'll probably eat the noodles and use the beef in a taco?). so my suggestion is to order the rack of lamb (if I return....which John had had & recommended) & stay away from long cooked items (except beans)

For the Moana performance, there was a parking lot specifically designated for families going to see it, and you had to show a ticket to get in. Zellerbach Hall is located within the campus of UC Berkeley. It is a spacious, beautiful building with ample seating to provide various viewpoints. For my daughter's first performance, I purchased the front row directly in front of the stage to ensure she had zero interference with her view. Her view... my five year old slept in my arms during majority of the performance only seeing the first and final dance performance. If you have never attended an Alvin Alley performance, you are truly missing beauty and precision and story telling and movement and so many other wondrous things at its finest. This was my third time attending and I leave so fulfilled by the emotion evoked from the performances, dancers and storytelling. Parking can be a hassle as it's primarily street parking and possible garage parking if you arrive early. We were fortunate to find street parking across from the old church. Public transportation via BART or bus are options. From BART, expect to walk 20-30 minutes (depending on your speed). My daughter and I made a day of it, stopping for a slice of pizza then making our way to frozen yogurt prior to the show.
