Small Chinese food diner on the corner of Tongariro and Roberts street, just steps from Lake Taupō. Order at the front, then server delivers to your table. Clean joint with table settings set aside at each table, however a few signs that the restaurant is new (5 months open) with nary a Yelp review, until now! Things like no chopsticks or napkins at the table, having to ask for extra bowls and plates, etc. Weird to have a box of tissues instead of napkins.... Anyway...
Mapo Tofu
Excellent - just the right amount of spice, flavor and presentation. Make sure to order one bowl of steamed rice for each participant. We had no leftovers here.
Dry-fried green beans
Good amount of beans with minced pork but overcooked a tad and the flavors are a bit of a mish mash.
Beef Noodle Soup
Very tender bite sized beef chunks and solid tasting broth but the portion size is small. It's good to quench hunger but it's not going to fill you up.
Stir fried cabbage and Minced Pork with Vermicelli
Barely any cabbage and the noodles are glass noodles, not vermicelli. The dish is spicy but to their credit, you'll be asked your preferred spice level as you order.
