It's been a long time since I've written a Yelp review, but I'm writing one today because this visit to the Rice Bowl elicited the most confounding feelings I've had about a dining experience in quite some time. When my friend and I arrived, I noticed the beautifully designed tile roof of the building. Upon entering, I admired how clean the restaurant was and how well it represented Chinese culture through its lovely design. When the food came out, the presentation was impeccable. But then I took a bite. The food was, by far, the oiliest I've ever had--and I'm a big fan of junk food. It was so oily that I could barely finish half of my plate, and the excess oil completely affected the flavor of the dish. To top it off, after paying $3.35 for my Diet Coke, I was only allowed one refill. Maybe I'm a glutton for refills, but I mention it because it's something refill lovers should know. When the appetizers came out, I was genuinely excited to give this place a five-star review and even planned to invite friends to eat here the following week. But after the overly oily meal and the disappointing refill policy, this experience turned into a two-star one for me. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think. read more

We have gone to the Rice Bowl numerous times. We enjoy the food, but the service is real bad. The waitress is very rude, she is always rude. She gives you dirty looks when you ask for a refill or anything. Today for instance when she brought us our food she placed in the center of our table, not in front of us. I don't understand what her problem is. You want to enjoy your food, but she is hateful!!! It's very sad to go out and be treated like this. The waitress at rice bowl who's old and has a bob with glasses was very classless during my check in for lunch. I ordered almond chicken and asked her if I can do half and half for my noodles to which she replied "yes" then I asked her if I can do Chinese style with crispy noodles and she said "no you can not " she then proceeded with bean sprouts and crunchy only . I said okay. She then came out with two soups and slammed them on the table and then took mine away and then turned around asking if I wanted it and I told her well you already took it away so? She's like okay well it doesn't come with it. Then walked away. She's came back out and asked me if I wanted water. And I ignored her she said "mam" I let her know that I did not appreciate her service or the manner she treated me when slamming the soup then taking it away. She was like well idk what you want me to say. I said you said enough. She then said okay well I don't have to serve you. I left upset and disgusted by her behavior other people were dinning in to I have never encounter such hostility from customer service in my life. Beware !! read more

DO NOT EAT HERE! Food: Okay but turned out to be terrible since there were baby roaches crawling from underneath the table. Service: Terrible. The server was not very pleasant and when we told her about the roaches, she just said oh okay and asked if we wanted a box! Ambiance: Terrible! AGAIN! Did I mention that they had roaches!!! ROACHES!!! And then they had a customer come in with her bulldog that was sitting on the furniture with them while they were waiting for their takeout and he was shaking himself and they never asked them to step outside or anything. A discount was not offered, the food wasn't comped or anything! I wouldn't have paid but I was treated to dinner and she didn't want to make a big deal. We were in town. And my uncle wanted to take us to dinner. This is his favorite Chinese restaurant. Very simple like most Chinese restaurants are. Its was clean. We had a party of 10. But it was slow. So didn't think the service would have been as slow as it was. But that gave us time to laugh and have some good conversation. We had some of the fried apps. I wasn't a fan of the fried calamari or scallops. Fried shrimp were good. Me personally ordered honey walnut shrimp (not pictured)and shrimp fried rice. Rice was ok. Could've used a lot more seasonings. Them shrimp tho!! Delicious nice big shrimp. Fried really crispy, just like i like it. Our family overall enjoyed the food. Our regular Chinese restaurant was closed and we chose to visit the Rice Bowl for dinner. Big Mistake! The ONE female server did not acknowledge or greet us just showed us our booth. It took her15 minutes to return and ask for our drinks. The restaurant was not busy, maybe 8 people. It was at that time we decided to place our food order also. She was not at all friendly but just walked away. It took 45 minutes for us to receive our simple combination plate and I just ordered soup. Again, no eye contact nor any words for the long wait. We began to eat and I saw a baby cockroach crawling on the wall behind my husband. Disgusting! Needless to say, we could not eat our food. Born and raised in hanford and had never tried the rice bowl until today. The service was ok. Not as bad as all the reviews say. The food was kinda bland and cold. The egg drop soup was so so. I came here for the first time with my business partner. They were awesome ! The employees were so friendly and really know their customers. I ordered the lunch special with tangerine chicken, and the sauce was phenomenal. The Chinese-style noodles are really good as well. The portions are great for the price, too! I don't know why this place is rated so poorly! I have never had anything approaching bad here, and as always, the service was the best I've had in town. Each Chinese place in town has regional specialties that are done accordingly, including different interpretations of the same menu items. This, in my opinion, is awesome! Pre covid review : to begin with the food is cheap "American style " Chinese, wouldn't consider this even remotely close to authentic Chinese cuisine the ingredients are of very low quality the rice and noodles could you use a supplier change, they were tasteless. Their meats are again of VERY low quality from my experience. Customer service lacks with the refusal to make us a fresh dinner plate after an eyelash was found in my rice, their reply being "Chinese people don't have eyelashes like that" in those exact words. Just had dinner here today and as usual we were taken care of within 3-5 min. Started of with a Long Island iced tea, hot tea and food order within 10 min. The dinner and appetizer were hot and great just as we ordered all within 20 minutes of arriving. I special ordered my noodles cooked longer and they were without a problem. I went to this restaurant because the Hong Kong restaurant next door was closed on Wednesdays and we were next door so why not. I should have known better. The last three or four times the food just isn't that good. The service was excellent. If you want Chinese food in Hanford don't go here. Hong Kong next door is much better. We were looking for good Chinese food and after looking at some of the good & bad reviews on Yelp we decided to try Rice Bowl. OMG, what a mistake this was. We should have paid closer attention to the bad reviews here on Yelp. First off, the place was only about full when we sat down. We waited for maybe 10 mins before they brought us menus. The after at least 15 more mins before they took our order. After sitting there for 30 mins they at long last brought of water. We notice others looking around for their orders, water, menus, etc. So we at least didn't feel picked on. Another 30 mins went by and no food. We have now been there for about 1 hour and no food and nobody has offer an explanation or even refilled our water glasses. Nearly another 30 mins go by and our meal arrived after being at our table for 1.5 hours. Now the food. OMG (again). Let's just say it's the worst Chinese food I've had ever anywhere in the world. The food was not seasoned right, cold, and had an odd smell. We couldn't eat it. We asked for the manager and waited another 10 mins and a lady came out from the kitchen and we told her of our long wait and the bad food. We were told that others like the food and that we just wanted to complain. What? We just left and will never go back there again. I came here with my parents and my other family members. They are always fast in service and the food is very good with large portions. We have a great time dining out. They are helpful and give great service even when we have some special needs in diets and physical abilities to go out to eat. After sitting down, it took nearly 10 minutes just to be asked for our drink order. When it takes so long for a server to even recognize you walked in, things will only get worse, and boy did it. When the server can't remember what was ordered things got much worse. So the Appetizer Platter (menu item) finally arrived. The bbq was at least 15 days old and freezer burnt. You could easily see this in the rings of discoloration in the meat. Since the server did not come back to the table, I took the meat to the counter. I asked the owner why the pork was served not only cold but freezer burnt. Her response, took me back to our table and took the platter and said "we don't serve you." This is Friggin America. Lunch Specials are a great value, $7 plus. Broccoli Beef sounds nutritious. The Main Boss Lady is super nice, she asks how my work associates are doing and tells me to tell them to come eat here more often. I told them Boss Lady asked about them. Want there tonight to pick up an online order. The said 20mins it took 30mins. The size for the price was cheap. The teriyaki chicken had a funny taste to it. When I placed the order it asked if I want Curry or butter shrimp. I picked butter shrimp. They put 3 small shrimps in butter. The sweet and sour pork was 6 pieces. The dumplings looks like it's been sitting and oil for 20 minutes it's all black. and to top it off the hot mustard sauce was nasty. The whole meal was cold by the time I got home.
