We have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant since moving to hickory two years and we think we have finally found it Rice Fun was clean and welcoming, the food tasted great, and the menu offered more variety than most of the other restaurants in the area. I take back my 4 star review. While the other food I had here was good, nothing special, I'm glad I came back and tried something else! The crispy scallion chicken was fantastic! It had me thinking- wow I really need to find a way to replicate this sauce! The employees were so helpful and patient with us as someone in my party is gluten free, and they helped us find the best option for her! I love the fact that they have something here to suit pretty much everyone's dietary needs! The prices cannot be beat either, especially for portions. Yummy food with large portions. Loads of food and low prices. Very roomy tables and space. Everyone I've encountered has been very friendly.

Not your typical Asian style cuisine. The staff was super nice and helpful but the food tasted like something you get from the airport. The fried rice had a Smokey flavor and no fried egg and very little peas and carrots, I think only saw one pea the sesame chicken were large round balls, very dark and hard to cut into (sauce was good) and the egg roll had a weird flavor also - not sure if it was the breading or what. Everything is served into to go containers and you order at the counter and they bring the containers to you. read more

@ricefunnow is a great place to eat at when in @visithickorymetro. It's a small establishment just outside of Hickory that serves up fantastic "flash cooking" Asian food that's made to order. We have gotten some amazingly tasty meals from Rice Fun Conover since they opened. The last two experiences were disappointing. The restaurant was empty and we ordered 1dish for takeout. Got home and saw someone else's meal. Okay I should have examined my order on the spot? Maybe Wednesday before Christmas we ordered several meals for company, bragging about their rice noodle options. The General Tso's chicken was marginally flavored and the House Rice Noodles was bland and greasy. It is a spicy dish and we were assured that us asking for medium spicy would not be a problem. I used to eat at the Mooresville location and it was fantastic. This location just doesn't seem to match the quality, flavors, or temperature of the dishes. Not sure why, but dishes are more bland here. I really appreciate the location and convenience of being in Conover, just wish the food was better. 5 stars for the service and cleanliness, however. read more

Service was good. I called in the order and it was ready when I got there. Crab Rangoon was ok. Nothing special. The dipping sauce provided was bland. Not sure if it was a duck sauce or a sweet and sour base. The two together was just a below average appetizer. General Tzo. When ordering you had a lot of options to customize right from the beginning. I guess good and bad on that. I went with chicken(there are options for other proteins) and the standard preparation. I am expecting General Tzo to be spicy by default. It was not. The sauce had no spice and very little flavor. The chunks of meat were huge but well cooked. So it ended up feeling like slightly sweet and sticky chicken nuggets. The vegetables were cooked correctly and not over done. They tasted fine, reference back to the sauce. Looking back at the ordering menu there are 8 different option the sauce and spicy level. I travel a lot and have tried General Tzo in a lot of places and all were default spicy, you had to request dialing it back. I guess you have to eat there twice to get know how to get a good spice level. Some spice would have helped the experience but really the flavor was not there overall. A disappointing meal over all. Decided to try this place after hearing good reviews from family who have been.  It did not disappoint!  We ordered pork dumplings, teriyaki chicken, vegetable lo-mein and kung pao chicken.  Everything was very good.  The food is a good amount for one person so you should not leave hungry.  Interior was very nice and clean.  Everyone we spoke with was very pleasant and polite.  We will definitely be back to try some more of the menu.  Would highly recommend trying Rice Fun in Conover! read more

We love this place! First discovered it several years ago at Statesville location, and are so happy it's closer to us now. It's still a bit out of the way for us, but we try to come here every two months or so. Fresh, tasty food; friendly people; fair prices. Large dining room if you want to eat in. Sesame chicken is well seasoned but chunks are overly huge! Not sure why it is so dark too-maybe too much soy sauce? Need to cut into more bite size pieces! Fried rice that comes with bigger orders is dry and hard and lacks flavor. Price-overall decent pricing. read more

My husband and I are over the road truck drivers. We were sitting at the Love's Travel Stop approximately 3mi from the restaurant. I was inquiring about Chinese Food in the area. The food here is just typical Chinese food. The Hunan Beef is pretty good, only down side is that the beef is pretty tough. As for service, you order at the counter and your order number would be called out. The employees are very friendly and helpful. Sorry. In a town full of Asian flavors, this one won't last long. Clean, pretty location with very friendly staff, despite the difficulties getting their payment systems to work. Food was very pretty, but just bland. Egg roll was chewy, not crispy. Hot & sour soup was missing that spice that makes the soup. Eńtree, again, cooked well but just missing flavor. Hopefully they get better with age, but I'm not inclined to find out. read more

This place is great! I saw some of the most stupid excuses to not give this place fantastic ratings.. When it's new, there are always problems to work out. The manager goes out of his way to make customers happy. I got the wrong dish once, but it was a great tasting mistake. Fresh veggies and food cooked in a reasonable time.. no buffet junk here. The menu isn't over complicated where they try to 200 different dishes from the same few ingredients. Average dish cost is $6.75 - 8.75, we always leave full. My family has visited several times, trying to order a different dishes each time, we are about half way through the menu, no complaints yet. Our first visit was on St. Patrick's Day. At first glance, we noticed how clean and tidy the entire restaurant appeared. The friendly staff helped walk us through then process in ordering our food first at the counter and then having it brought to our table once the order was ready. You get your money's worth here and then some. The portions are large enough for at least two meals, if not three. Everything was made to order and super fresh.
