My boyfriend and I had a craving for Thai food, so we decided to have dinner at this restaurant. I had the Tom Yum soup as starter and Green Seafood Curry dish for my main course. The only great part about the food I've ordered is the spiciness (I love spicy food). However, the food was disappointing...It is definitely not worth the kind of price you are paying! The food was just average and the ingredients used were cheap and not as fresh. Service could be better-there were two waitress serving us that night. I thought places with nice decoration can't do proper Asian food. Well, I thought wrong. Rice Market is the kind of restaurant you can go on a date, not like Magasasa or other Asian joints that probably don't care much about decor but more on the food but this place makes a mean red curry. It's obviously a plus, when you are ready to show your loved one how much you love your chili. The place is cozy, nice looking, and staffed with friendly people. Perhaps the downside that it's rather expensive compared to other Asian joints. Well, somebody got to maintain the romantic decor, right? But I will definitely go back on special dates :) read more

I've been back to this place both times I've been in Copenhagen. If I could give it 3.5 stars, I would. It's better than average, but likely not the best Thai you've been had. They have a relatively limited menu, but they cover all the general bases well. My friend ordered the red curry chicken which was mild and not spicy, and I ordered the beef stir fry, which was tasty. We started with an order of shrimp chips, which I always love, and shared a bowl of Tom yum goong, which was good. Beware though, Thai iced tea lovers: I had ordered this, but what they actually have is more of a sweet mint tea, which they acknowledged was not the same. If I was fussy, I'd have asked to be removed from the bill, however, it was good on its own terms so I didn't raise a fuss. If I make it back to Copenhagen again, I'd probably explore a different Thai option, but if you're in the general area of this place, it's an OK option. Good, not great. read more

Summary: Good for a date. Curtain tables in the back have a romantic ambiance. Atmosphere: It's well decorated, though I like a few others better. I found the pillows on the chairs to be not as comfy and there wasn't a hanger for coats that I saw, so I didn't quite have room. Service: It was ok, but I did every now and then find I had to really look around for help. Food: I had the rice noodle soup. It was similar to a Pho, but with more cilantro. It really is delicious. I wish they had Sirachi sauce. The nearest Pho bowl of noodles according to Yelp anyway, is a fairly far walk compared to this place. Still I recommend. I came here originally a few years ago, and I remember it being really nice....but I revisited it on the weekend, an something changed... The lighting is too high, and furniture doesn't look as nice and it isn't as cozy. The wait staff is actually alright, except for one lady who was very abrasive and when I asked to try a wine before I bought the bottle, she poured the wine into a water glass to have me try it. The spicy soup was pretty good and I can see they do great deals on 10 and 20 courses, however, there are other nice Asian restaurants in the city where the food and service is better. And unfortunately, I was very sick the next day...not sure if it was from there, but my friend who also ate there didn't feel well either.... read more

Worst service I've gotten at a restaurant in Copenhagen. I was at this place 4 years ago and received horrible service and the feeling that I wasn't wanted there at all. I finally went down there again last week and was met by the same woman, who again, gave me the exact same shitty service. The woman who seems to be en charge literally asked me why I was there. Maybe it's a conceptual service of being a douchebagel? In that case, I give kudos for keeping the concept strict four years without a change. Change said password. Log back in and write this. I had the red curry. The chicken was so slammin tender, I'm don't know how they did it. The Curry smooth and tasty. The ingredients fresh. The ambiance nice. When the plate arrived it seemed like a large portion. But (literally) after bite one I knew it had no chance. I finished the generous portion of meat and veg and ate the curry like soup. Good till the last drop. I'm currently staring at their cookbook which is available for sale and considering the purchase... And it's in Danish... And I only know one Danish word. Love really is exciting and new. I was kind of craving Thai food, and this seemed interesting (even got seated before I saw it was called out in the tour guide I've been leafing through). I went with the fried monkfish in green curry. Unfortunately, it took almost an hour to deliver the food. Again, the place wasn't exactly jumping - one or two tables occupied outside, and just a few inside. Almost bad enough to merit two stars...I was really hungry. Once it arrived, the curry was good - the fish seemed more pan seared than fried, but I do like monkfish, with it's really dense texture. There was a large portion of it in the dish as well. Along with that came lots of tangy/salty green curry broth with ginger and bean sprouts, and a bowl of noodles. I ended up spooning broth over the noodles and kind of eating them like spaghetti, and attacking the monkfish separately. The meal was satisfying, but maybe don't pick this one if you're eating a bit late and don't fancy a wait. They do have English on the menu and were able to handle my signature-only credit card, which was nice. read more

Tried Ricemarket a few Saturdays ago when we visited CPH for the first time. Managed to get a late reservation for 9.15pm. Was quite busy when we arrived and the place had a nice, cosy ambient vibe. Got seated pretty swiftly, ordered and the food came pretty quickly. Verdict on the food - pretty disappointing! We found it just generally quite salty, but lacking in any real flavours. The seared tuna was good, but it all went downhill with the rest of the dishes - the fish cakes were not terrible but very salty, the mixed dim sum selection were so soggy that they got stuck to the serving basket and had to be scraped off so we were just chowing down on the meat fillings in the end, the cooked prawns in the spicy papaya salad came out semi-raw and the salad itself had very little spice or flavour, the noodles (pad Thai style) were soggy. The food was just really really average.. Made us question whether we'd found the same place that the other reviewers had raved about?? The service didn't help either - we finished our mains at 10.30 and the waitress offered us tea or coffee. I had been eyeing the mango and sticky rice dessert since ordering our entrees and mains so I said no tea or coffee, but I'd like dessert please. The waitress said no, the kitchen is closed, it closed half an hour ago, no apologies or anything...pretty annoyed that she didn't mention this to us when we ordered or even when the kitchen was about to close. So we asked for the bill which then took 10 minutes to arrive, and then when settling the bill, she had the audacity to ask if we wanted to leave a tip! We declined. It was awkward...Now reviews had said don't except anything of the service which is fine, we didn't, but common courtesy if you will accept late diners is to notify them if the kitchen will be closing so they can order before this happens. We weren't impressed. All in all -not an overly pleasant meal but the final straw was that it wasn't even a cheap eat!! Not overly expensive (not talking Michelin prices here) but pretty damn ex-y when you take into account the quality of the food and pretty poor service. Maybe we just came on a bad night but we really don't see what the rave reviews were about (and there are many for this place, not even just on yelp). I'm really surprised that the same owners can run a Michelin starred Thai restaurant and be affiliated with the substandard quality which was served at Ricemarket. Everything we tasted was pretty dismal - we both agreed that our local pub in London serves better Thai food than that! The one good thing is that they brew their own beer which was actually pretty good. But that was about it unfortunately. Restrooms were pretty average as well - the Danes usually do a good bathroom but this was not one of them. read more

Besides being one of the few places open during Christmas this was a really good place to go have Thai food after feasting Christmas food for days. My husband and I had booked a dinner bed which was nice and cosy and very romantic. The food was excellent. I had a whole fish and my husband ordered chicken. Unfortunately the service was not great that night (probably understaffed because of Christmas). We never got the chance for a refill of our beers and when it was time to get the cheque, we felt repeatedly ignored. When the waiter finally came with our cheque I'm pretty sure I counted three sighs from him. Great little Thai place, pretty reasonably priced. We all enjoyed our main dishes immensely! I had the red coconut curry, and it was awesome. My friend had the green seafood curry dish, and she also loved it. We had the spring rolls as an appetizer, those were just ok but were definitely needed since we were all so hungry! While the appetizers were rolling in, I wasn't sure it was worth it (75dk for 10 pieces of Calamari), but once the entree hit, I was convinced. I, like the other english review I just read, had the red curry and agree 100%, it was awesome. Slightly different from anything else I have had with the same name, but hints of coconut really made it magical. I had the mango & sticky rice for dessert, also different than just about any other place. No sweetened condensed milk (or whatever it is, but rather sugar and coconut ice cream). This was a great find. The staff was helpful with menu selections and the panang curry was delicious. Just the right size portions.

I've now eaten twice at The Ricemarket. It's a good and well-located Asian restaurant with a limited but thoughtful menu. (Two fish items were however already sold out by 7.00pm). Probably more Thai than anything else. Staff are friendly and helpful (English seems to be the default language). However, they do seem to have significant capacity problems. It was very crowded indeed last night (a Saturday) and I would think that advance booking was a must. They had difficulties coping and we waited an hour and twenty minutes for our main course. (I should add that we were given (in total) three beers by way of recompense.) It may be (although this is only a guess) that the kitchen is simply too small to handle the numbers and they perhaps also need more waiting staff. read more

One of the better thai places in Copenhagen. you can have different kinds og table served buffets if you're a bigger party. a special place in the restaurant is also a spot where you can sit behind vails and have a romantic dinner. price range is medium to high but the quality matches it as well so good value for money. read more

I am not a thai cuisine expert, but I know what the characters of the thai dish is. This one was nothing like a thai dish. Let's start with the starters. First the fish cake. It was rubbery, not in a good way. This is whats happening when it has been in the freezer for some time. And then it came with this green sauce (the picture on their website does not show a green sauce), it was cucumber and chili dip, boy it just went wrong in so many ways. When I tasted the dip on its own it was okay, it had a slight vinegar taste, but when you put that together with the fish cake, one went south the other went north. The second starter we ordered was chicken satay. What was with all this rubbery texture? I couldn't chew it off the skewer. The outer layer was dry and hard to chew, the inside was wet, not what I would have expected. It came with a peanut sauce, it was just boring. Let's move to the main dishes. First the Red coconut curry with chicken and veggies. How did they screw it up?! It was most definitely a Malay dish. The coconut was too thick and to light on the colour. The chicken meat looked like it had been crushed by a hammer. The taste were just boring, even for my "easily pleased" husband. He thought we could easily make a better dish at home. My main dish was Wok fried beef with pepper & garlic. What was with the broccoli? And it was just way too sweet. But the weird thing was the meat. It was thinly sliced, so it should be able to easily absorb the spices, but it didn't. It was almost like it had been cut before, and sat in a freezer for some time. Also i requested for my food to be extra hot (spicy). All they did was cut some chili and sprinkled it all over, instead of having cooked the chili in the dish from the beginning. Boy, I am glad we did not stay for dessert. Honestly for the price we paid (560 DKK), we could have had a great feast at Magasasa (Istegade). Which is why I give it 1 star. read more
