I needed blinds installed (13) and I had just set up a date with Lowe's to have someone come and measure for installation. Unfortunately the contractor from Lowe's soonest appointment was in a week and a half they would measure and then set up a date later for the installation. I was pressed for time and needed to return to New Jersey in a few days. When I found out the Lowe's contractor could not come earlier I contacted Juan the day after I met him. I told Juan what I needed and he set up an appointment to come measure the windows the next day as he was working in the area. Long story short, Handyman complete services measured and installed all the blinds a couple of days before the other contractor could come out to just measure the windows. Handyman needed some other materials and charged them to their account and provided me with a receipt. I was blown away by the professionalism and quality of work done in a very short period of time and would not hesitate to recommend them. This is a kitchen & bathroom reno + flooring for my 750 sqft apartment. I selected my materials at their warehouse during my design session. What was supposed to be a 4 week job is now coming up to 4 months. The majority of these photos are from the final walkthrough June 3rd, 2025. You will see: Mis-match color cabinets installed, which are also not aligned, Incorrect countertop installed, using scrap pieces, Backsplash grout already cracking, Missing hardware for cabinets, Microwave cannot open entirely, and the outlet does not work, Required GFCI outlets missing - major safety hazard, Incorrect color & style bathroom floor tile installed, Mis-match shower tile installed, Shower niche missing, Grout in shower already cracking, Shelving in bathroom vanity missing, Baseboards unfinished and completely missing in areas, Incorrect color LVP flooring installed, Back door hinges are missing screws - major safety hazard, I caught the back door open one night (who knows how many times that has happened), Open wiring in the attic - major fire hazard, These are ONLY the materials & issues that have not been corrected along the way. There were plenty more issues. Addressing them with the owner did not help. Used materials installed from previous jobs without consent (verbal and physical evidence of this). They have requested all invoices early/ before they were due. The 3rd draw was requested early 4 times. On the 4th request personally from the owner, I paid early under his confirmation that cabinets would arrive in 2 days. It took a few weeks before the cabinets were installed, and installed incorrectly. It took another 6 weeks to 'correct', and at the final walkthrough, they are mis-matched colors, not all have shelving, and they are unaligned.

Especially Wes who was our point of contact from the start. Wes answered all of our question, was honest and helpful from the get go. Highly recommend working with him or anyone else on the team. The work that was done was beautiful, the bathroom turned out exactly as we imagined it and we can't really ask for more than that. We were interrupted twice because of hurricanes which delayed the work but no one can help that. The biggest issue we had was communication from the team. From what I understood, TEK utilizes third party contractors to do specific jobs like drywall, electric, plumbing, etc. So some times people were coming on days we were told no one was coming. Some days we were told someone was coming at 8 and they'd never show. The reason that was most frustrating was because we had to plan our day around when a contractor would be home, like our daughter's nap schedule, our dog's potty schedule, and even our work schedules. We're lucky enough to have a ton of flexibility but if we hadn't, that really would've dragged the project out. Other than the communication about when the team would be coming though, I have no complaints about TEK or the work that was done. I think the communication bit is an easy fix and I do understand the hurricanes made it especially difficult some weeks. Overall: we got a beautiful bathroom done for a great price, the TEK team was great and the only issue we had was some miscommunication.

The quality delta was staggering, and it was a handyman carpenter from Angie's list. And never cleaned up work. Cleaning the dust and debris after Mike's crew was finished was a daily task for my family. Still need to remove the knock down finish that he over-sprayed onto doorway trim.

I was looking to get under cabinet…read morelighting, a barn door installed, and a light switch to turn off kitchen lights on another side of the kitchen so I wouldn't have to walk across the house to turn on the kitchen lights. I made an appointment online, but did not hear from anyone, I waited a couple of days, and then phoned the number listed. I did speak to Mike and informed him of what I wanted. He indicated that they could do that and he'd get one of his guys out to check out what I wanted, and to get the work started for the light switch on the other side of the kitchen. The week came, and then went.... and I did not receive a call or hear anything about someone stopping by to do the work. One week later, I called again and touched base with Mike stating I must have been confused, as I thought he was going to send someone over sometime that first week to look at what I wanted. He apologized, and did end up coming that same day. We went over things, and the plane was hatched. They started work about 2 or 3 days later (cannot really remember). The under cabinet lighting is amazing, the plates are different than the original plates, but I love my under cabinet lighting so I will deal. I even asked how do I get the one plate to look like the original. The barn door was a normal sized door.... So when you rolled the door shut, you could peak through the sides to see inside the bedrooms. I remember asking how we can make it so that the door blocks the view of the bedrooms because that was the intention in the first place... and they came up with a plan to provide a piece of weather stripping (which costs me $75.00 that I found out about at the very end of the job for an additional 7 foot piece of rubber weather stripping. My original estimate was $1850.... I put half down $925 down and the remaining balance of $925 was due at completion of work. I will state that once the work started, there were some time discrepancies on the business end. I would be told they would be at my home at 9 a.m. but then get a text the following morning (way after 9) stating they will not be there until 2:00 (with an explanation) - and finally showing up at around 3:00 or later. This wasn't a one time occurrence, it was throughout the work. Once the work was completed (and this was weeks later because we had days where I was told they would be here working, but they never showed up), and Mike called to explain and then asked me if I was mad at him. There was an issue trying to get my kitchen lights set up on a dimmer, and finally, I just said forget about dimming them, I just want the switch on the other side of the kitchen so I don't have to walk across the entire house to turn the kitchen lights on and off.... The invoice was $75.00 more when I received my final invoice. This is due to that strip of weather stripping! When I saw the invoice, I told Mike I was a little taken aback by him charging me an additional $75.00 for the barn door, and this is where he informed me that since they couldn't get my light switch to work, and had to make additional trips to Lowe's to figure it out, he had to make up the money someplace! So did I just hear you tell me you charged me for trips to Lowes? I will have to say that I would not recommend My Uncle Mikes Quality Services to any other neighbors, and I will not be using them in the future. The lack of communication, the additional trip to Lowes that you will need to cover, and just saying that you will be here to work, and you don't' hear from them for a couple of days makes me say I would not recommend nor use them for future jobs. As I sit here and wait after being told by Mike that Shawn will reach out to me to finish up the door handle issue on my barn door, I have a feeling I will not hear from them again. Now I have a handle inside my door incomplete and I do not have the necessary tools to complete it.... Just beware...... On another note, his electrician was courteous, conscientious and a great worker, and was always trying to do the right thing.
