I had booked a tee time for the weekend using their online system. My tee time was cancelled due to…read moreweather which is completely fine, however because I had booked through golf now the club couldn't issue me a refund. Also fine and understandable except that in the voicemail that was left to me about canceling my refund, no instruction was for how to go about getting my refund for my tee time. If I didn't check my bank account I would not have noticed that a refund wasn't issue and wouldn't have known to investigate. After making several attempts to call the pro shop over the course of two days, I was finally told I had to contact golf now (again that part is fine) but I was not given any sort of number to contact them, I was essentially just left to it. After scrolling golf now's website and not coming across any sort of contact info I called the pro shop again, the manager was somewhat argumentative and confrontational. All I needed was a contact number for golf now which he did provide. However this entire fiasco could have been easily and pleasantly avoided had he provided information to me in the voicemail he left me stating that my tee time was being cancelled due to weather, I would have to contact golf now for my refund and had he provided the number then. Overall extremely frustrating experience and I will not be golfing here again.

Alright, quick take on a round yesterday at Berkleigh…read more Many different ways to get a tee-time here. Berkleigh is currently on GroupGolfer. They also appear daily on GolfNow and you can also go to their website. www.berkleighgolf.com/golf/tee-times They do the odd thing where if you use their website, you pay the same nuisance fee you would pay if you were using GolfNow and then a few hours before your tee-time, you are emailed a link where you can pre-pay for the round(s). A few random thoughts: One super annoying/lazy thing they do here is none of the holes have their yardage listed (sure, it's on the scorecard but everywhere else in humanity has it on the signage at the tee box) and nowhere can you see a picture of the hole. Admittedly, there are few very doglegs or tricks here and the ones they have compared to some Pocono courses are very tame, but still...... The double downside to this is that the scorecard listed yardage is wrong for a lot of the holes. Playing from the whites, I would say the yardage you're actually playing from is less than the yardage listed on around 1/2 of the holes. As an example, on #6, whites are listed at 182 but the tees are set at around 145. Currently due to the heat, there are no water hazards as everything has dried up. You could walk across the pond on #15 and the creek bed that goes through the property is all hard rocks. Very light patronage for a Friday afternoon. They let us tee off 30 minutes early with no issue. You can load up on freebies big time with a little adventurism into the bushes along 222 on #8 and into the trees on #10 and #11. Easily left +15 balls. Bar none the biggest thing that shocked me about this course were the greens. They are in great shape and are very approachable. Meaning that you don't have putts with triple breaks, massive undulations or dead brown spots. The speed is slightly fast but consistent throughout. A+ on this area. Overall, the course is what it is. Some of the reviews from years gone by are 100% insane. You need to have a big set and your eyes checked to call a course like this a dog track when you're paying $40 for a round. I have played many rounds at many different courses the past two years and there are a lot of places which are in far worse shape at a similar or higher pricing point. Great round today and I have no issue coming back anytime or recommending this place as a nice weekday value play course.

Super easy to make a tee-time. Go to the website and chose the date/time/number of players and after creating an account, you're done. Sort of surprising that they don't make you put a card in to hold the time like several other courses do on their reservation portals, but because of what comes next, I understand why. buttervalley.teesnap.net/ A few observations: Make sure you read the fine print that the rates listed are cash only rates. If you're paying with a card, you will eat their processing charges. The course for being in January was in about as good of shape as you could expect. Good amount of mud along the pathways between holes, most of the greens were like concrete, most of the cups were filled with ice, etc. Supposedly, we had the second tee time of the day, yet magically, there were already four groups of four out playing. Hmmmm? The first few holes were log jammed but eventually the spacing thankfully improved on it's own and things got better. Here are my two pet peeves. None of the markers were out. Orange tee is where? White tee is where? The yellows were there but anything else required a bit of guess work. Here's the biggie. The yardage for the holes. The score card says X. The stone marker at the hole says Y. A few of the holes (a few par 3's from what I remember) have a marker in the ground at the tee which says Z. Why is it this confusing to just list what the yardage actually is versus having a 20-40 yard swing? Conceptually, Butter Valley is basically the cousin to Sawmill in Easton. Is this course really 4 stars? Probably not, but, I'll give it to them because they stay open year round which is a plus and you cannot beat their winter pricing to walk 18. We'll be back.

Course is stunning, but the pace of play is slow me and a buddy had a tee time for 5:48 took til…read more8:15 to get through 9, we were scheduled for 18, got back to the clubhouse which closed at 7, called the next day seeing if maybe we could get a voucher for 9 since we paid for 18 and only made it through 9, and the lady was rude on the phone saying we shouldn't have done 18 at 5:48 and that it was our fault Even though they put us in for 18. Needless to say very unhelpful staff and definitely changes my mind on going back anytime soon, next time if this happens we'll just play through the dark and see how they like it.

Been here twice and will come again I'm sure

We were approached at 2:13 by the young man sent out to us. He stated we must leave, and get off the course. We were kind of alarmed at this request, I asked if we could just finish up, he said no, we must leave now. Well i said, can we just finish the hole? With a 40 yard pitch to the 17th green, thought it wasn't much to ask. After all, I did pay to play 18, and the course was supposed to be open till 3. Nope, he said," have to go now, the owner has some Christmas family shit or something she wants to get to." (his words, not mine). They decided while we were out on the course that they we closing at 2:00 instead of 3:00, so we had to pick up our balls and leave. Not blaming him, he was just the messenger. Considering we were almost done with the 17th, and a short par 3 18th, we would have been done in 20 minutes anyway, getting in well before the original listed closing time. But we were forced off the course at a whim. Considering we were on schedule for a 3 1/2 hour round, it's hardly dawdling, or out of the ordinary kind of time. Can you see why a paying customer would be a bit annoyed? I feel some compensation of some sort is in order. Being forced to leave like that leaves a customer feeling slighted and upset. Emailed the owner, just crickets, not even an offer of a bucket of range balls next time. They just don't care about their customers. They have a history of this sort of thing. A number of years ago I made a tee time reservation 2 weeks before a Black Friday. It was a nice day, and anyone with a tee time was screwed. They took any walk up, and sent them out on the course. We had to wait 20 minutes past out reserve tee time just for a cart to get available. Then the front 9 took 4 1/4 hours to play. A LOT of angry customers that day. My friend drove 90 minutes to play there that day, so we stayed. Took 6 3/4 hours for that round. The owner laughed all the way to the bank that day. Don't play this place, it's not worth it, with so many courses in the area. Galen Hall 3 miles away is a better option.

This is a 9-hole course owned by Upper Saucon Township that was designed by the renowned Donald…read moreRoss. The township condemned it in the early 2000s to save it from becoming a McMansion development. The first 3-4 holes are wide open and not too interesting. Some lack visual "definition" so you don't really know where you are supposed to be hitting to on some shots. These holes also have large transmission power lines running through them. (Local rule - ball hitting power lines/poles can be replayed, no penalty.) However, the stretch from #5 through #9 is very solid, and I really enjoyed them. It actually seemed like the first 4 holes were by a different designer or added on later, since they are different in character from the last 5, but that is not the case. All greens are small and can be very challenging, especially if your approach shot lands above the hole. There are only maybe 3 or 4 bunkers on the entire course. It seems like the landing area on #7 probably gets very swampy after rain. The whole course was in pretty good condition, no complaints there. Each hole has two sets of tees for each color, so that the holes can be played differently the second time around on a 18-hole round. It is cheap to play. I paid $14 to walk 9 holes on a weekend afternoon. The course's webpage lists rates from 2006, but they are pretty much the same now. I don't know how crowded it gets during peak times, but I was one of about 6 people on the entire course when I was there. The "clubhouse" has a bar/snack shop. A very friendly guy was operating that and working as golf cashier/starter.
