There was what seemed to be a nicely varied and well staffed and stocked driving range with standard booths, a field area for iron work, a sand trap and a practice green to simulate all sorts of golfing conditions. After navigating the self-serve machine to pay our entrance fees and get our balls and putters, we were treated to a very interesting and well-maintained course. It was just challenging enough to keep the adults interested while not being too overwhelming for the kids. A very nice balance. Staff was friendly and opened the main building to allow the kids to use the bathroom. Due to COVID, all food services are currently suspended. There aren't a ton of family-friendly activities to do when visiting Danville, but this place 100% fits the bill.

I started my day by going to the range and found that half my range balls were cracked or chipped. On top of that, I felt like I was golfing in the Sahara Desert because there was no grass to hit off. When my tee time actually rolled around, you would've thought people were golfing for free because I had to wait about 25 minutes just to tee off. Unfortunately it did not get any better- every single shot I had to stand and wait, and the groups in front of me were waiting as well. I spent more time talking to my group and playing side games between shots than actually golfing. I'd highly recommend looking for a different course instead of going to this place. I have played at all of the courses in our area and beyond. I've never been turned away because of cargo shorts. And they also told my friend that he has to tuck in his shirt. I always practice good golf etiquette. This was disappointing. I personally willing to pay $100 for a round of golf should not be turned away because of having pockets on the side of their shorts. We were approached at 2:13 by the young man sent out to us. He stated we must leave, and get off the course. We were kind of alarmed at this request, I asked if we could just finish up, he said no, we must leave now. Well i said, can we just finish the hole? With a 40 yard pitch to the 17th green, thought it wasn't much to ask. After all, I did pay to play 18, and the course was supposed to be open till 3. Nope, he said," have to go now, the owner has some Christmas family shit or something she wants to get to." (his words, not mine). They decided while we were out on the course that they we closing at 2:00 instead of 3:00, so we had to pick up our balls and leave. Not blaming him, he was just the messenger. Considering we were almost done with the 17th, and a short par 3 18th, we would have been done in 20 minutes anyway, getting in well before the original listed closing time. But we were forced off the course at a whim. Considering we were on schedule for a 3 1/2 hour round, it's hardly dawdling, or out of the ordinary kind of time. Can you see why a paying customer would be a bit annoyed? I feel some compensation of some sort is in order. Being forced to leave like that leaves a customer feeling slighted and upset. Emailed the owner, just crickets, not even an offer of a bucket of range balls next time. They just don't care about their customers. They have a history of this sort of thing. A number of years ago I made a tee time reservation 2 weeks before a Black Friday. It was a nice day, and anyone with a tee time was screwed. They took any walk up, and sent them out on the course. We had to wait 20 minutes past out reserve tee time just for a cart to get available. Then the front 9 took 4 1/4 hours to play. A LOT of angry customers that day. My friend drove 90 minutes to play there that day, so we stayed. Took 6 3/4 hours for that round. The owner laughed all the way to the bank that day. Don't play this place, it's not worth it, with so many courses in the area. Galen Hall 3 miles away is a better option.
