My appointment was to determine why I was experiencing a rough surface on my upper right tooth. Dr. Purdy immediately determined one of my crowns needed to be replaced. Two days later I had the complete process completed in one appointment. Dr. Purdy and his clinical assistant were very conscientious in performing the dental procedure and built a rock-solid crown that needed no adjustments in the time immediately after the appointment. Dr. Purdy was serious about his work while still interjecting some humor since I am a person who while placing high value on the quality of my dental care still enjoys making any experience enjoyable. I highly recommend Dr. Purdy to new patients and I still highly recommend Dr. Icely as a valued dental care provider. In addition, all other dental professionals in the office are top-notch in their work with patients. Catalina Foothills Family Dental uses advanced dental technology in their office allowing on-site construction of dental crowns (normally a patient might have to wait 10 days for sending the work request to a dental lab) but thanks to CFFD's innovative practice, I reaped the benefits.

When i checked out I was greeted by a "Treatment Plan" that had two appointments - priced at $704 each and my next regular appointment would be $225. The plan had mandatory $100 payment to secure the appointments. I gave them $212 for these appointments not knowing to this day what the $12 was for. It was clear on the form the 2 $100 payments were for the treatments and any money would be returned if the treatment was not done. There was no discussion- all this done in the lobby with other patients listening. It was uncomforable at best. I made 2 appointments and canceled both in a timely manner. I first got an email from the office that I could pick up or they could mail the $212 check. Then the office manager took it upon herself to take $200 and apply it to another bill and mailed a $12 check to "save me a trip". I challenged the credit with my bank as the $200 was for the deep cleaning which i did not have. BEWARE.. IF YOU GET A TREATMENT PLAN... GET A SECOND OPINION AND CANCEL THE APPOINTMENTS. MY NEW DENTIST SAID I COULD GET A DEEP CLEANING BUT I DID NOT NEED IT. The business practices of Goodman Dental are suspect as best .. the new dentist showed me what Goodman Dental does not have.. modern xrays, modern office & good honest care. BEWARE!!!

I also wanted to give them a…read more2/5 because 1) even though all of the assistants were kind, their job as the suction and water application is very important and can actually make or break an experience and I didn't enjoy being gagged, poked unnecessarily, and having to swallow the dirty dental water with chemical/tooth fragments in it and 2) my care plan changed mid second appointment under nitrus so they had to oxygenate me for my signature and then give me nitrus again to complete the work and the additional tooth. 3) I was never actually shown my xrays while they discussed the care plan and I think some attention to detail might have avoided the reason I am ultimately unhappy. My first visit I was told we would be working on 4 teeth and watching one, and we would be separating those into two visits. They did the bottom teeth on the first visit, where I expressed concern about my top retainer not fitting me when they do the work at the next visit. They told me not to worry and that it would be fine, just to bring the retainer so we could make sure it fit correctly. They also said they can do retainers and said they could straighten my bottom teeth for me (I have a permanent retainer there but they are only slightly crooked and I wasn't asking about that). I was in the chair probably 3.5 hours for both visits. When I showed up for the second visit - I reminded him about my retainer and that I brought it in, he said okay, no worries we will try that at the end to make sure it fits correctly and that they could make it fit if it didn't. They got me started on nitrus and were tinkering in there for a while and then he said alright so we actually need to do this other tooth that we were only watching but you can come back for that and now we're gonna be watching this other (random) tooth too. Unfortunately, this made me a bit skeptical because I don't understand with the x-rays and the full inspection that took HOURS the first time, why we wouldn't be aware of this. This conversation all took place while I was already on nitrus and they'd been working in my mouth a while. They said we have to bring you off the nitrus to get your signature to do the other tooth if that's what you want to do. I said fine, I wasn't really wanting to come back so soon, do it. I wasn't wanting to do a third appointment after they said I'd be doing two and not have to come back a while. The cost of that would obviously go up to pay for a repeat of the nitrus and whatever else. They had me sign the paper and put me back on nitrus. Then when it was finished he asked how my teeth felt, I said good I think (they had to give me more of the numbing agent because I was feeling again and so I couldn't feel much of anything until the very next day around noon, almost a whole day later) but that I just wanted to make sure my retainer fit because it cost me a lot to get them this way. He said ok grab it and we'll try it on but followed up with there's no guarantee it's going to fit. WHAAT... no. That was literally the opposite of what had been said. I was told to bring it, so that we could ensure it fit. So yeah, I wanted to love this office and ive been telling everyone to go and that they're awesome but upon writing the review I think the niceness and cleanliness gave them more credit than maybe they deserved. That said, I'd have been more upset if they'd made me come back later but I also think they are inconsistent with what my needs are and left me feeling like it was a used car salesmen type business. Everything with my teeth feels healthy and good. But my retainer doesn't fit how it should and I didn't like the change of tone from it will fit to it might not and that's just the way it is, but we can make you another one and fix your teeth again.. $$ and also adding more teeth in to work on that weren't mentioned at the original care plan. Including a new tooth to "watch" when the one they said they were watching was one they wanted to fix after all. This was not a terrible experience, just could have been better. For improvement, I recommend more training for the assistants, and more consistency in the care plan for the doctor I saw. This office was beautifully maintained, clean and comfortable.

That being said, I just had my initial appointment with Dr Abraham and I couldn't have felt more at ease. He offered several different ways to get my teeth taken care of while managing my wild anxiety. He was very patient, gentle and kind. The insurance person there was amazing, made you feel like you've known her your whole life and all the office staff were very kind and welcoming. I'm surprised to say that I'm looking forward to working with them all and I'm so grateful I found Dr Abraham and this practice.

I confirmed and showed for my appointment. I was seated by the hygienist, when the doctor stepped into the room and said he wanted to speak with me. .. He asked me "Why are you here?" I politely answered his question. To complete my cleaning, and because your office owes me money. ( This immediately set him off.) He immediately argued the point, about owning me money. The next thing I know he is acting like a 10 year old and making uncalled for comments. I actually had to ask if he had ever looked at my medical history. By the look on his face, I knew he never had. (I.E. medical history and dental history are very closely intertwined) He proceeded to try to argue facts with me re: my account. I let him know he was uninformed of what was going on. ( unbeknownst to him, I had in my hands the insurance paperwork and treatment, and bank statements to review with billing personnel after appointment) He then proceeded to tell me several times that "I wasn't welcome there." Unceremoniously dismissed. LOL. I've been kicked out of better establishments. He was incredibly rude, and unprofessional. As a dentist who is injecting people with medications, it is very important to know your patients medical history and not be throwing juvenile insults them. For a dental provider you certainly are not aware of the impact or importance of the opinion you leave on the community and your patients. Which is really too bad, because as a ROOKIE you should be.

Most of my dentists growing up had that "I've been fixing teeth since floss was invented" level of experience. So when I first met Dr. Manny I thought... wow... what a young grasshopper. As the old saying goes, "Never judge a book by it's cover." Dr. Manny is a Tucson native who trained under one of the best dentists in town, Dr. Brei. Clearly he soaked up every ounce of wisdom during that apprenticeship, added prestigious dental school, constant continuing education, and then had the audacity to go start his own practice... and absolutely nail it. Do not confuse his confidence with cockiness. The man simply knows what he's doing. And he proves it every time. A few things that stood out immediately: * I have never felt pain during the numbing process. If you've had dental work before, you know that alone deserves recognition. * After every procedure, everything healed exactly how it was explained and expected. No surprises, no drama. Just solid work done right. Also, never once have I felt judged. And trust me... if there was ever a patient worth judging, I've given them plenty of material over the years. The hygienists are equally amazing. Not once during a cleaning has anyone casually mentioned my coffee or Diet Coke habits like some kind of dental detective. Instead, they just calmly explain how to do things better and somehow make you actually want to floss more. And now, I floss 3X a day. Dr. Manny's right-hand woman is basically the Chief of Everything, and an absolute gem. She keeps the entire operation running smoother than most Fortune 500 companies. And the front office staff? Picture Jennifer Lopez in The Wedding Planner with earpieces, orchestrating a flawless event... except the event is you and your teeth. Phones ringing, patients arriving, schedules moving, and somehow everyone is calm, happy, and taken care of. Honestly it's impressive. So if you're shopping for a dentist and you're still reading this review... why? Go make the appointment. Get your teeth cleaned. Get whatever needs fixing fixed.
