This place is great!! The manufacturing Department is almost brand new 2019. I was surprised when my son took me here to look. The new building is beautifully designed with top of the line machines and tools. The teachers are great, every teacher that my son's have had, so far are great & most of them work in the industry. The department head CJ Sikora is a great person. She knowledgeable and so much...more one of a kind!! She really is the best teacher that they have ever had. She's amazing! The teachers are okay at best, and so r the tutors. I wouldn't recommend coming here especially if u have to take a bus to get here. Go to any other college that's closer to the downtown area than this dump. It's close to a bad neighborhood, and you'll get harassed by people for money. A bunch of assholes trying to scam u with what r obvious scams, and won't leave u the fuck alone especially if they c u with cash. I both worked here & attended for over 18 years. They are trying very hard to brand themselves as an institution of higher learning. It is up to the student to really use proper criticism where it is truly needed. This is a NON-school. If you're looking for an institution of higher learning, go FAR AWAY from the South Side of Chicago, but most especially Daley College! The buildings alone are more depressing than those of a typical public high school, and the majority of the students are just there to "get through" a vocational program as quickly as possible. read more

If I could rate Daley 0 stars I would. My experience at this school was and is terrible. Going to Daley as a transfer student made things more difficult. The first time I went, they were helpful they gave me all the info I needed to log on to the CCC portal page, and my first task was to complete all the "activities" on that page and return. Easy peasy right? I think not. I couldn't complete all the activities so I had to go visit the school. That's when trouble began. I was sent to talk to an advisor named Joel Archuleta. Let's just say I don't ever want to encounter that man again. He was rude and mean. To shorten it up, he pretty much told me that I shouldn't be going to school for the area of work I was interested in, and that I wasn't welcomed because I came from another school and was transferring. I did leave a complaint to the school and they never reached out. Then on the portal page it stated my FAFSA wasn't submitted. I went to talk to a financial aid advisor. She was kind and told me to bring in some documents from the IRS. Procrastinator me decided to wait last minute; 14 days before school even started to go back and tell them I was having trouble getting a document but I wanted to present the rest. That time I went back I was attended by another lady and she told me to bring in extra documents. Third time I go back and was received by a Brian Smith. I had all my documents. I knew exactly what I was going in for and I let him know about the situation. He said that it was a different problem and I didn't need all those documents. He said I never submitted my FAFSA and he couldn't help me. I'm starting to get mad at this point. I tell him well if that was the case then the two times I've gone, other advisors would've made that a concern. To me at Daley most staff treat you like you're a child, that they know better and you have no idea what you're talking about. If you don't speak up you end up getting f'd over. I recommend Harold Washington. That's where I ended up taking my classes. They're so much nicer and I haven't had a bad experience with them. Since Daley is considered my home college I have to fix all my troubles with them. As soon as I can I will be changing to Harold and asking for a second opinion because Daley is the worst place you can go to if you need help with any kind of advisor. read more

I went took my tax transcripts as soon as I walked out they called me that if I had taken them cause they couldn't find them. Really., I had just walked out like wth .... Go to Harold instead, you will thank me. This feels more like a high school than a college. You will get treated like a high school student here "put on your id, take off your hat." There is some great teachers here but most don't challenge you. Also forget about eating in the cafeteria... there are lounge areas through out though- which is where the mature civilized people eat. Parking is free but there is an alternate entrance where the road is so bad you would think you were in rural Mexico and that is no exaggeration. ---Update as of 2016-- They have new turnstyle entrances where you need an ID to swipe. No need to wear any ID. They also have new modernized furnishings. I was just there for a quick visit so I can't say anything more. The southern entrance is still literally falling apart. read more

I came to this school to sign my child up for swimming. They are some impatient rude people up here and this is when you giving them money!

The setup to get started for college there has no order. If you are fresh out of high school you will get confused. Even me as an adult was not sure what steps to take after registering. I do have to give it to the registration staff they are the first people to help you get enrolled. Financial aid department was a nightmare. Only one person was helping me. Everyone else there was either taking their lunch, break, or who knows but it sure wasn't helping the students. The advisors section was also not bad. Now I cannot speak for all the college but I am speaking of a certain "trailer" in the back where accountability, reason, and knowledge were like an exotic bird. Stay clear of Daley College, it's a hole. It's a lot like high school but a very ghetto high school. Some of the teachers are extremely rude, some are nice, and some just don't care. I received an A in a class I barely went to or participated in. The professor would just give us answers to all the work and tests. A lot of the students are rude, extremely obnoxious, and lie so much it's unbelievable. Sometimes I would just go to class sit back and listen to all the b.s. it's also a dangerous place to be at night. Also be aware of all the racism and the wannabes. P.s. Deal with the commute and go to Harold Washington....seriously... I have attended both Harold Washington and Daley College in the past, and the two make for completely different learning experiences. I am currently attending the fall semester at Daley, and nothing seems to have changed or is showing any improvement since the last time I was here. "They are trying very hard to brand themselves as an institution of higher learning??" Ha! What a joke. The majority of the staff at Daley are beyond rude and act like you're infringing on their time when you go in to ask a simple question. I have tried contacting them, both the main office and financial aid office, and the link to the main "Contact Us" form doesn't even work! My three emails to the financial aid office have also gone unanswered. I even tried the "schedule an appointment" feature on the website and SURPRISE SURPRISE NO RESPONSE. Get it together! I'd hate to think about how it must look like to a new student trying to get information. Either you're greeted with a stank attitude in person, or you get absolutely no response when trying online. Hard to establish yourselves as an institution of higher learning when requests are going unanswered. Not sure what the hold up has been with the financial aid distribution, but everything was supposedly going to start getting distributed on 10/2, and no one has received any of their funds. This includes student loans that are usually taken out to help students cover costs of attending school, like room and board, transportation, etc, not just tuition. There has been ZERO information that is being provided to the students, but when I check today (mind you, almost an entire month from the estimated disbursement date) NOW is when they finally decide to post an announcement on the Financial Aid page. What is taking so long??? We ask for an eta so we at least have an idea of when to expect these much needed funds, and no one can give us a straight answer. Surely they have an estimated time of when everything SHOULD be completed, an estimated goal date of when everything should be processed, something? Moving onto the classes and registration process....I've had a couple of classes get cancelled on me due to low enrollment. No biggie since it happens, except that the most recent instance they decided to let me know JUST THREE DAYS BEFORE CLASSES STARTED. I was notified on a Friday, tried to switch over my classes online but the system was down, was going to try to go in person but because the summer semester was coming to a close, the office were shorter than usual and it would close in a couple of hours. I had to rearrange my schedule to get out of work early, to take care of a problem that I should have been made aware of at least a week in advance, not just 3 days. Don't even get me started on the facility itself. Many of the bathrooms are out of service throughout the school year, same as the elevators. The basement is so gloomy and dreary like it's been forgotten, yet the Student Activities Center is down there. The only positives about Daley is the free parking, and my amazing student advisor, Anthony Pro. Unfortunately, he is limited with what he has access to since he is only an advisor, BUT if he was available, I'd be seeking out his help for everything. An advisor who actually knows what he's doing! The whole point of these reviews is to "help solve some things." Since they aren't responding to emails, maybe a Yelp review might finally catch their attention? read more

Daley college is by far the worst college i ever attended. The faculty of the entire school is no help (wheres a hand when you need one) and also the financial aid office. Huh you wait your entire life to go talk to someone and they are no help either. This is going to be my third semester and by far this was the worst experience of my life. I give Richard J. Daley College (((5))) Stars b/c my two sons learned extremely well how to swim here. My eldest son was on his High School Swim team b/c of Daley College swim classes. If you want your child to learn the correct techniques on how to swim, I recommend this place hands down. I've tried park districts and they were always cancelling due to rain drops and whatnot. I've never taken a college course here so I can't recommend that aspect of it. Park in the back where you have to go thru security to get into the parking lot. It's closer to the pool. I love the fact that they have actual Chicago Police officers as security guards there too. read more

I had a great experience attending Richard J. Daley College. Some of my fondest memories of school took place at Daley College. My professors were extremely knowlegeable in their field and made learning fun and engaging. I was enrolled in the Honors Program which is a wonderful program. I highly recommend it to anyone who is willing to put in the work. I also facilitated, and was President, a school organization, growing its membership and providing a steady flow of very intelligent guest speakers to our members. I was Treasurer of Phi Theta Kappa and met a lot of really great people through this organization. For those who do not appreciate following rules or are too immature to do so: Everyone should follow the school's culture and protocol - and wear I.D.'s , without complaining, if this is what is required. AND No one is supposed to wear hats inside of buildings, so why wait to be asked to take off your hat?? Your hat should already be off before entering any building. I had a great time at Daley College and would not trade my experiences for anything !! Best wishes to all future students of Daley Collge.
