My insurance company recommended me to Dr. Lin after I got into a t-bone accident over on Jamboree. The force from the airbag going off ended up breaking the back of my driver's seat so you can imagine what it did to my back. Gave their office a call and they were able to see me within the week. Dr. Lin seemed a bit rushed during the appointment. However, his expertise quickly became apparent. He thoroughly explained how the accident could have affected my spine and outlined a treatment plan that didn't involve rushing into surgery, which was what I wanted from the start. Their office has a built in physical therapy department attached to it and I was able to walked right next door with my treatment plan same day. Safe to say my back pack is gone after 3 short months. I waited an hour to see him and wasn't in the room with him for 5min. He just referred me out. It also took me a yr to get an actual appt bc they don't answer the phone. I had two visits with Dr. Richard Lin. He is extremely aggressive and a know it all. My first visit my partner went with me. As we asked questions about my situation every response he gave us was beyond demeaning. I felt Richard wanted to be in and out as fast as he could. During this visit I was offered a steroid shot to help aid the pain I was experiencing. I am no expert but I am 100% sure the process was also rushed! Richard applied a great amount of lidocaine spray to the injection spot. When he was finished with the shot he asked me how I felt. At the moment I was extremely numb. He asked if I had pain and I said no (since I was numb) he laughed and said great your fix, problem solved. He told me to set up a follow up in 3-4 weeks to see how the shot helped. Let me tell you WORSE DECISION OF MY LIFE. I was in excruciating pain for 3-4 weeks after that. I ended up in Two emergency rooms due to trama to the area where the injection was placed. Fast forward to my follow up appointment (I went alone) It was the most abhorrent medical visit I've ever had. I had wrote down notes on my phone about the new symptoms and difficulties I was experiencing because of my back pain since the shot. I did this throughout the 3 weeks prior to my visit. I wanted to make sure to go through them with him and see what we could do to resolve this. The moment he walked into the room he had a very snobby attitude. I couldn't even get any of my new symptoms or difficulties across to him without him shutting each one of them down. He just did not want to hear it. He got so bothered I was looking at my notes and called me by my name and said look at me. After he spoke to me like this, I was in shock !!!Surprise, he did not stop there! He also mentioned that "I had come to the end of the road with him and that death was the greater risk for me if he did surgery on me. He topped off my visit with saying that maybe I was depressed and that was probably causing my pain. He also mentioned that maybe I had lupus and that was also a reason for my pain. At this point I couldn't believe he did not once asked about the Steroid shot he gave me. I know darn well he got all the notes from both of the emergency rooms i was in. He was in and out, the visit was about 5 mins max. I left his office in tears and frustration. I felt so helpless and with no solution. This was a waste of time and energy. I've been dealing with this back pain for almost 2 years and this was the worst I've ever been treated. Medical Negligence at its finest. I actually have a disk extrusion in my lower back. L5 and F1 and I've done it all. PT, chiropractor, acupuncture, steroid shot . I am in severe pain , I can't sit on a regular desk chair or walk for anything longer than 15-30 mins. It impacts my lower extremities. I want everyone to know I waited a little over a month to gather my thoughts after how he made me feel! read more

I am so upset over the run around we have gotten between Foothill Regional Medical Center and Dr. Lin. My friend spent DAYS in the hospital before they FINALLY addressed the reason he went in, which was back pain. After 4 days in that hospital, they finally took an MRI. Dr Lin was his doc. Upon my friends release, we were given an appointment with Dr. Lin to see when he left the hospital. My friend is in enormous pain; for him to get in and out of the car, let alone walk and what happened................NOTHING. Oh--you have to go see this other doctor. Seriously? The entire experience has been a total shit show. And there was to be 3 prescriptions we picked up when he left the hospital, there were two! The ONLY thing accomplished with that trip to Dr Lin's office was to get the other prescription Lee should have had almost a week ago! And a referral to go to another doctor!!!!! OMG. Now, to go see Dr. Patel AND, all they want to do is him fill out a ton of paperwork, that Dr. Lin and Foothill Regional Medical already have and send him home. After two weeks of everybody screwing around, he still has not gotten the steroid shot he needs! Unconscionable behavior on the part of Foothill Regional Medical Center and Dr. Lins. Dr. Lin is an amazing surgeon and a very kind and caring man! My lower back was in so much pain that I could not stand upright. For about eight years, I had been dealing with back pain and becoming more and more bent over. I went to Pain Management where they gave me lots of pain medicine, but because it was nerve pain the medicine just wasn't working. By the time I found Dr. Lin, I had exhausted all other resources. I was completely bent over and had to use my forearms to push my walker. Every step sent a horrible nerve pain from my lower back down both my legs down to my toes. It seemed like every day it was getting worse and worse. When I went to Dr. Lin he ordered an MRI, but because I couldn't lay down flat they had to do an open MRI, which meant that he did not have a very good picture of my spine before surgery! He said my spine was a mess and he opened me up and moved the muscles away from the spine. He was shocked he said it was the worst he had ever seen. I knew it was bad, and I was very worried that he would not be able to fix it. I worried that I would have to have several surgeries. I worried that I would never walk straight again. However, I woke up from surgery with a back brace on, and no pain! Absolutely no pain! About three or four days later I was in a lot of pain, but Dr. Lin had given me pain medicine before the surgery. The pain only lasted a couple of days! I can now walk straight up, but because I waited so long, my core muscles are very weak and I'll require a lot of physical therapy, which I started about three months after surgery. I am so happy with the results! I am so happy that I will not have to have another surgery! Dr. Lin is an amazing surgeon and a really nice guy. He's got a beautiful smile which he wears often. He explained everything to me and told me that, even though it was a very difficult surgery, he was able to get my spine aligned again, and I can feel the results of his work! He saved my life! I couldn't do anything before the surgery! All I could do was sit with my legs crossed or pulled up to my chest. I was in so much pain I had trouble holding conversations, and I really had no desire to go anywhere or do anything. I was just in so much pain! Dr. Lin has given me my life back. Even though I'm still using the walker, which won't be for long, I am not in much pain at all. I can play with my grandchildren again, I can go places and I can drive! I am so happy that I am now wearing my smile all the time, just like Dr. Lin! His office staff is amazing. They never make you feel rushed and will talk to you for as long as you need, they listen and they do everything they can to get you an appointment as soon as possible. They are so kind and so helpful. And they actually act like they like their jobs. They laugh and chat and do not seem to be stressed out at all like in some doctors offices. I love Dr. Lin and the work he has done on my spine. I love going to his office it's the type of office where when you have an appointment they actually call you in at that time and the doctor comes in a few minutes. I'm never there for more than half an hour. I've been to doctors where it was common to wait two hours. Dr. Lin's office is not like that at all. They're scheduling is perfect. When you have an appointment you will see the doctor at that time. I guess there could be emergencies but it hasn't happened to me. I highly recommend Dr. Lin. I think he is the best Spinal Surgeon in the world! read more

First I'm not one who takes time to write reviews on-line. My first visit & experience with Dr. Lin was very shocking. I have several severities with my lumbar & thoracic spine seen in previous MRI reports. I cancelled having spine surgery a year ago and thought I would see another Orthopedic surgeon for a second opinion and see if there were other options for a more non-invasive back surgery than using titanium bars with screws. However, my hip pain was so severe, I saw one of his Sport Ortho doctors before him and she referred me to him as she thought for sure my pain was related to my lower back issues. My first words with him were related to my severe hip pain. I didn't even have enough time to explain I think it was related to my back. He wouldn't even look at my x-ray he ordered of my lumbar during my visit that was displayed on screen next to him. He only focused on my hip pain. He said I needed to stretch the hip muscle that seemed to be tight to get rid of my hip pain. I drew his attention to the x-ray on the screen next to him and I said isn't my L-5 out of alignment with my L-4 that appears to be sitting against my spinal cord. He took a glance, and said it looks uglier on the x-ray than it is and you are just fine. He would not even analyze my severe back problems to see if my hip pain was related nor even cared to discuss my sever back pain and severities of my spin. And, during my first visit I asked could he listen to the popping noise in my neck. I could see the rage in his eyes, but he caught himself quickly and avoided my question. And, he had no clue that his Sports Ortho doctor referred me to see him. On my second follow up appointment (scheduled 3-months later) he had no clue what I was there for and asked me what I was there for?? He is in the wrong business/career and needs to be reported to the medical board. His behavior is not even human? No empathy... no heart... rude/cold... no caring for another individual living with severe spinal/hip pain. Shame on you Mr. Lin, your non-professional behavior is just awful! read more

We were referred to Dr. Richard Lin by my mother's PCP's assistant and told to bring a CD of X-rays from my mother's stay at Providence St. Joseph Hospital in July. We did so and my paralyzed mother was left outside his office for over an hour on her gurney. Patients who arrived after her were allowed in and out. The staff at the front desk could not make heads or tails out of my mother's X-rays. When she was finally allowed into the office, Dr. Lin did not see her, an associate did. He suggested that her right hip be removed but he would not be performing the operation. Instead, he said to come back later and see Dr. Ryan Stancil, another associate. More X-rays were ordered and we had them done. When we returned to meet Dr. Stancil, he refused to perform the surgery and referred my mother to palliative care. Weeks later, I received a referral from Dr. Lin's office for hospice treatment instead. A whole month of stress an anxiety wasted for nothing. Stay away from Dr. Richard Lin, DO. read more

I showed up for my 945 apt for them to tell me they were backed up, so they moved me to 1120am. Came back at 1120am just to sit in the office for 3 hours. Im certainly finding a new doctor who can actually see his patients on time and not waste peoples entire days when they have a set appointment. The ladies at the front desk were very rude and non shalont about everything as well.
