I have been contacting the office for a few weeks now and can't get anyone to respond. I'm a veteran trying to pursue help through the VA but I need my medical records. I have called, texted, and sent emails. I am asking for very little... the resolution is a 2 minute phone call. The fact that I'm not worth two minutes is a bit frustrating. Patients deserve better. I had a minor emergency with a Peritonsillar abscess; wanted cash healthcare, but my wife insisted that I meet or exceed the quality of Hoag (my old stomping grounds) without putting my baby in a car until he graduated high school or waiting until it spread further out in the tissues. Temecula should start to boast of their unprecedented "Experienced, Yale ENT on the West Coast, inside a day for accessible cash value." Not to imply that all cases are handled in a day or for similar procedural costs: merely to emphasize that they listened, heard me, and provided exactly the potentially life-saving measures I needed, at the highest level, with kind, immediate urgency. Ten minute state-wide YELP quest could have been decisive in more like ten seconds. It's a few-hour trip from anywhere SoCal for immediate care from Yale Med's most seasoned. So, from Big Bear area, I got a hotel nearby, was the first patient seen because he recognized the emergency, and was in-and-out inside of 20 min; and that was delayed badly because I'm probably the most difficult gag reflex he'll suffer in a while. Looked at the problem, took it out with an extra courtesy pass for my own paranoid comfort, and I told a few Dad jokes soaking up a few minutes too. I needed to rest on my way out; so, a nurse even came out to check on me, which I sincerely appreciated: the air is just calming after such a procedure in a nice rural wine town like Temecula (worth the visit for out of towners on a different note). With meticulous form and patience, they completely handled my emergent situation before it became an emergency nightmare (problem solved 24 hours). This place is a shit show. Made an appointment online. Got an email confirmation. No one called to confirm, so I called them and no one answered. I show up to my appointment anyways and sit there for 20 min while they input ALL my information. Just to be told they are all booked up and can't see me today. Do not go here!!! So unorganized, no respect for patience time at all.... Meanwhile all the staff in the back are laughing and giggling. Reviews are not wrong. I seriously don't understand how this office stays in business. Communicating with them is nearly impossible and it seems to be a common experience. We tried to make an appointment for our son. They DO NOT answer their phone, direct you to texting but no one answers that either. The text replies direct you to schedule on their website which then informs you online booking is not available. My calls and messages went unanswered for over a week and then finally someone replied, "sorry we've been out of the office". So I guess patients were supposed to figure that out telepathically. The doctor is fine but the office staff leave much to be desired. They don't answer the phone and don't follow up when you do get through. I called and left messages so many times I began to feel like a stalker. I saw Dr Ruiz in January 2024 and he ordered a CT scan. Medicare would not pay because they stated "no medical necessity." I realize it could have been the way it was coded, so here we are, 6 months later, and I still can't get this resolved. I even went into the office twice, with the paperwork, and I was told the person who handles that will call me. The call never came, and I ended up spending $245.00 to the Radiology group because I did not want to hurt my credit. Quality of care was poor. Antiquated recommendations for my treatment. Went to another ent who was highly rated and they gave me in ear pregnicone shots and highly recommended hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This doctor never called me after an mri and what is the absolute worse is I called 4 times and left messages upon my initial visit on three separate dates and never got a return call. Unbelievably poor levels of customer service. That never happened. Think twice before you go to this doctor. read more

I made two appointments, the first was cancelled by the Doctors office on the day of the appointment. I was traveling over 200 miles to see him for my first appointment when I got a call telling me that I to stop taking Eliquis two weeks before the appointment. Thanks a lot! I made the second appointment two weeks later, confirmed it a week before the scheduled appointment and after showing up at his office the lights were out, a delivery tag stuck in the door from the day before and no one around! Remember I traveled over 200 miles for the appointment! He charges for "no shows" so I figure he owes me $200 for my travel expenses due to his "no show". My husband had surgery here for his chronic sinus infections. After the surgery it was even worse. The dr would just put him on antibiotics, so 20 days of antibiotics that didn't fix the problem. I called them again saying he is still in a lot of pain, Jackie said she'd talk to the dr and call me back. Never called me back . 8 days later I cancelled his next appt with them and found a new dr. in Loma Linda. UPDATE: New Doctor said the procedure my husband had done was completely unnecessary and told us she thought it was a top molar. She sent him to a specialist and they fixed the problem. read more

I found myself in need of an ear doc due to ongoing ringing & popping in my ears. I found Dr. Ruiz had excellent reviews and attempted obtain appt. 7/26/21 I called Ruiz's office and advised their website has glitches and wouldn't allow me to schedule consult. Jackie assisted me and offered me an appt 8/12 and emailed me patient forms required to confirm my appt. On 8/3/21 I received a vm from drs Ofc advising dr won't be in the office 8/12 due to emergency surgery and I'll need to call and get rescheduled. Frustrated I make contact 8/10 and the office person is confused about my 8/12 appt and advises the office will be closed 8/12 so let's find another day that works. As we are trying to coordinate a day & time she advises as of yesterday Dr. Ruiz is not seeing any patients who have not been fully vaccinated until further notice. I'm livid because I have now been trying to see Ruiz for 3 weeks and he comes with this? I explained how unfair it is for Dr. Ruiz to refuse to see patients who have already been on his calendar for weeks and then not provide any notice or other options! She can't do anything but relay Dr's orders. I find it very unprofessional and unethical for a medical doctor to forget his oaths and to treat patients as customers vs treating patients with compassion! Doctors could look to educate unvaccinated patients vs shaming and shunning and refusing treatment. Based on how I have been handled prior to seeing Dr. Ruiz I no longer have any interest in allowing him to be my physician. I asked the office worker to give Ruiz my input; I must assume he didn't find my concerns important as I have not heard from him nor his office. I am disappointed in the customer service in this office. At first Jackie and Angel were so nice and sweet and personable. And I also really liked Dr. Ruiz. I went in for an appointment and was told that I needed to have a balloon sinus surgery. They were going to call my insurance company to set things up and get approval and call me back. It has been over three months and I have not heard back from anyone in this office. I have called and left multiple messages and no one returns my calls. I called my insurance company to find out if the surgery request had been submitted and nothing has been submitted either. Maybe they don't want or need my business. I went to see dr Ruiz I called first and they told me to book the appointment online which I did. I showed up for the appointment and the girl at the desk said I wasn't scheduled. She then did some research and realized it was a mistake on their part. She said I'd have to come back. I told her I couldnt hear and my mouth was covered in sores not allowing me to eat and I was in a lot of pain. I told her I was in the middle of a divorce and my insurance was ending any day. I came in to be evaluated by Dr. Ruiz due to an ongoing earache and sore throat that I had been experiencing over the past month. I had already seen my MD twice and they thought it was acid reflux. However, none of the recommended medications seemed to help. It continually grew more sensitive and tender so they sent me to an ENT, Dr. Ruiz, to have it further evaluated. He spent a hurried five minutes doing a cursory exam where he just had me open my mouth so he could take a quick look at the back of my throat and then he peeked in my ear. He never bothered to scope my throat. Eight months later I was sent to a Sharps ENT in San Diego where they found a very large, stage four tumor at the base of my tongue and involving my throat. All of my doctors agreed that it would've been plainly visible had Dr. Ruiz bothered to do his job thoroughly. I am grateful to be alive to write this, after the extensive treatment that I have undergone, that could have been avoided if Dr. Ruiz would have cared for his patient. read more

Where do I start? I've had trouble for years. I saw another ENT but was told to wear a mouth guard and I had arthritis in my jaw.. didn't make any sense how that was my problem with clogged ears.. as time went on it progressed and tons of other issues started in. I needed help! I was referred to Dr. Ruiz through my Allergenist and boy am I glad!! Dr. Ruiz, Jackie and Kirby have ALL been amazing!!! When my husband and I go in, it's a whole family trip especially with Covid and not being able to have someone watch the kids. But all of them have been so accommodating, welcoming and amazing!!! Dr. Ruiz truly cares and wants to help and goes above and beyond on helping you understand. There's no such thing as a stupid question with him. He's happy to answer them all! My husband and I both have had surgery with him now and mine was multiple surgeries and things would happen during recovery and I would have a question and message Jackie and she's so helpful!!! I would feel so bad like I would be bothering her but she never once ever made me feel like that, she was always so sweet and helpful!!! Kirby has helped me out a few times too when I'd call in for my husband but then had to ask some questions for myself and he was happy to help me with tips and tricks to explanations etc! I have had nose issues for the past two years and have been going to Dr. Ruiz and he has made my life simply fantastic. I can now finally breathe after having a deviated septum correct and helping get rid of chronic sinusitis. They have the most amazing customer service from Angel who sits up front to nurse Jackie who helps out Dr. Ruiz. I have to say it's the best office out of any type of medical office I have ever been to no matter what the issue was. I would even have to call them family because they are so amazing. I was very excited to see this doctor as he seemed to have excellent reviews when I was searching online, so I anticipated having a great experience and finally having my ear problem resolved. Unfortunately for me, that was not the case. For all of the accolades that this doctor may have received from his many years of study, (which initially appealed to me and truthfully was a factor in choosing him), his lack of common courtesy and respectfulness towards me has forever tainted my opinion of him. Dr. Ruiz spoke to me in what felt to be, in my opinion, a condescending manner, which made me feel uncomfortable and disrespected. During my consultation he mentioned that it appeared I had an object in my ear, and when I reiterated what he said in an effort to gain clarity (because I was obviously surprised by the news) he responded with "did I stutter" and casually looked over at his assistant as he gave a slight giggle. This was just one example of how my consult went, because it was not pleasant (the front staff however, were very nice and professional). In the end, I will NOT be going back, because even though this doctor has an impressive resume on paper, it's equally as important to have compassion and understanding for your patients (AKA bedside manner). Wow. That's what I have to say. I've had a deviated septum for as long as I can remember. Everyone told me it's no big deal. My breathing through my nose started to get worse as I got older. I went to see Dr. Ruiz for nasal passage issues that I have been having for years. I always needed to use nasal spray at night in order to sleep. Dr. Ruiz and his staff, particularly Jackie, were exceptional to work with from scheduling to the actual appointments.
