At first I thought we were getting overlooked as we've had some not so stellar experiences with vets in Texas. I thought wrong. Dr. Carpenter was very thorough with my old man cat and got him to calm down, which is no easy feat. I'm happy with the care and attention he received, and so is he. 5 stars. read more

I'm surprised that I've never taken the time to review RVC. I've been a very satisfied customer for probably at least 18 years! I have found both Dr. Heyman and Dr. Carpenter, to be very compassionate and professional. They always have the best interests of their patients (our fur babies) at heart. The staff is also very helpful and attentive to my questions and concerns whenever I call in or bring my dog in for a visit. I can't wait for Covid to be behind us and we can go back to inside office visits, but I completely understand and agree with the protocols. Sadly, right before Christmas I knew it was time to say goodbye to my 14 year old Border Collie, Callie. We were able to go inside with her and be by her side as she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. We had gone through that experience before with another dog years ago and it is never easy. It was so comforting to know she would no longer be in pain and Dr. Carpenter gently walked us through the entire process. A few days later we were sent a beautiful sympathy card signed by all the staff that was just so heartfelt and comforting. I received a call that I could pick up her ashes and again, just a great feeling of compassion and kindness from all of the staff. I cannot say enough about all the professional care I have experienced over all these years. read more

We have been using this veterinary clinic since 2007. I have never felt like my pets were not receiving the best care. I like it because it is small and personable. They only have 2 examination rooms, so it is very cozy. We recently acquired two kittens and I do not hesitate to bring them here for their very first checkups! I appreciate that the cost of treating our furry little friends does not cost an arm and a leg. I recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a caring environment and affordable care for their pets. read more

OMG what a fantastic place. I'm from the country and I wanted a down to earth practice. I don't want frills and a fancy building with 15 DVMs. This is just want I wanted to find close to my home. Brand new puppy in my life since 40 years ago. The front staff is wonderfully caring. The vet tech was so kind and Dr. Heyman took time with me on a very busy day for her. Here's the kicker. Dr. H prescribed meds for hook worms, the breeder said she was just dosed several days before. Get this ... I called and the front desk lady took my message to see if it was ok to dose with the prescription. She called me back in less than 15 MINUTES. Dang. I'm a fan read more

This is the BEST Vet I have EVER been too! I have Boxers (2 right now)- I have been going to this vet for years and at least 5 of my pets have visited- so this is NOT a one time good experience review. Look em up on google- 5 for 5, it doesn't get any better. Dr. Heymann is the doctor we have seen most of the time, but we have had expereicne with the others in the practice. They are compassionate- we have had 2 dogs put down here...boxers get strange complications, it's been very tough, but when the time comes, this is where I'll always go. They are reasonable- I have felt more times than not- that I should have paid more for what I got...they're not in this to have a big fancy practice, they're in this to provide a service to folks that love their pets. The staff- most have been around a while and know their stuff. but the ultimate measure for me- is my dogs NEVER have issues with going to the vet- they know they are good people and stay relaxed. read more

The kindest most helpful place. You can't go wrong here. And your pets will be loved and cared for in an emergency or everyday care.

My wife shelly brought in her dad's dog to this clinic. "Franklin" was 16 years old and needed to be euthanized. Upon entering Shelly was clearly and understandably upset, crying and distraught. Her father has used this vet for more than 20 years. We told them that, they saw the condition of the dog, they saw how upset Shelly was and their response was "have a seat in in the common waiting room and we will see if we can work you in." Really? I asked if they could at least get us to a room out of the waiting room. They again said we don't know how long it's going to take to get your crying wife and injured dog to a room in this obvious emergency situation. I am very forgiving and understand there are circumstances that may cause you to wait. However, there is a place in hell for the attendants at this vet clinic who showed no compassion for the dog or my wife. The lack of compassion was unlike any I have ever witnessed. Never take your pet here, there is clearly no compassion or loyalty to your animal or pet owner, or there is total lack of Mgmt control. Either way this is a horrible horrible place. read more

Like some of the other reviewers, we have gone to RVC for many years, and with many dogs. We have used the Clinic to provide vet care for puppies that are in training to be guide dogs -- highly bred dogs who are in serious training mode and with high standards of vet care defined by the guide dog program. We have used both Dr. Brantley and Dr. Heymann over the years. Several reviewers have commented on the change from Dr. Brantley to Dr. Heymann, and indeed they are different vets with different communication styles. But they BOTH have provided us excellent standard of care and attention to the 12 dogs we have taken to RVC over many years. We don't have dogs in training anymore, but we take our two yellow labs there now and can't imagine going anywhere else. I get it -- Yelp can be a place to express gripes that are sometimes warranted and sometimes not. But RVC has been, and is, outstanding in their care of our dogs. read more

I have been bringing my American Pit Bull Terrier here for 7 years and have seen the level of attention to detail and care for my pet decline sharply after Dr. Brantley sold the practice. From meds being under dosed to force return visits, having to go over my pets medical history every visit because the vets don't care enough to look at or prepare history charts. Being scolded for the care ( or from their perspective the lack there of ) that I provide for my pet, Being talked down to for what I attribute to my appearance and the breed of my pet, and being accused of fighting my pet and general mistreatment because an allergy issue causes raw spots and hair loss due to scratching at itchy skin (which clears up with treatment). I will never bring my pet to this clinic ever again. I have had enough of my pet and myself being treated poorly. I hope that Richardson Veterinary Clinic takes this review as a wakeup call to adjust their practice. However, I doubt that will happen as the new owner is the Vet that wanted to tell me I was fighting my dog. I will be finding a new Vet for my little girl and would not recommend this clinic to anyone! read more

When Dr. Brantley was still there, it was a Five-Star place. He was my gold standard of vets and is greatly missed . Since then, it's been VERY hit or miss. Front office staff is great. After my lab had emergency surgery for bloat/torsion, I transported her there the morning after surgery for follow-up care. You would have thought they had never had a case like this. I was actualy asked by whom I believe was a vet tech, "What exactly would you like us to do with her?" Unbelievable and unacceptable. After taking my dog there this morning for a gastro issue, I believe I was sold meds she does not need. The little one is young and a trash digger. I specifically said that my dog DOES NOT have diaharria and was given anti-diaharra meds and cautioned that this might make her constipated. Huh? I did not appreciate being schooled about making my own dog food - she instead recommending Purina foods (really?). I make my own dog food after my daughter's dog nearly died from kidney failure from eating Blue Diamond dog food. Only after much research I embarked on this project and after doing so for nearly one year, my dogs are happy, healthly and it's done wonders for my 13 yo lab with dysplasia. I can appreciate a difference of opinion, but to make me feel as if I was abusing my dogs was really unprofessional. read more

This vet is wonderful! So friendly and knowledgable. Very levelheaded-- they don't jump to some unfounded conclusion so they can make a buck. I was able to get an appointment for my dog quickly, and we didn't have to wait very long in the waiting room. I completely and totally trust them with my dogs! ... and I even got a thank you letter from them in the mail a few days after our visit. Wonderful experience all around! read more

My puppy's first vet. She got all her tests done here, and when she ate a freaking tennis ball, she was kenneled up in here. She was in good hands and I knew it because I checked on her several times in a day (That's what new puppy owners do!) Right off the freeway exit, Accessible, Kind staff. I am such a fan of this practice. We've been taking our 2 cats here for 3 years. All 3 vets are great with our rather cranky, hissing kitties and field all my questions without making me feel rushed. The techs are kind and gentle with the cat who tend to freak out during the experience. read more

I took my dog to this clinic because the previous owner, Dr. Brantley, had been such an excellent and compassionate vet. The attitude of 75% of the staff and the level of care does not even compare now. I totally agree with what someone else said in their review of this clinic, "Being scolded for the care ( or from their perspective the lack there of ) that I provide for my pet, Being talked down to" - that was exactly the attitude problem that I am talking about here. They do not even know my dog, are in no position to even have an opinion as those given. They complained about the collar that I used, that he needed training, how I administered my flea medication, and every other little thing that they could find to criticize. My dog has a hurt leg, so I left him at this clinic to board, thinking that he would get special care. He is not the same joyful dog that I dropped off. He acts very depressed and will not even hardly move - his condition is far worse. His condition deteriorated more in 5 days than it had in 5 weeks. I cannot imagine what he went through while I was out of town. Never again! I was wrong to believe that Dr. Brantley's level of care was still available here. read more

I feel so lucky finally found this place AND Dr.Sunny Ruth!!! This place, not only Dr. Ruth and her nurse, even the front staffs are very friendly and nice. Dr. Ruth is very sweet and kind to my two cats and she listens, I mean "listens" to me. One of my cats has IBD and another has dental problems. Till I found Dr. Ruth, each teeth cleaning was very scary experience for me since I lost one of my cat with surgery. She is a trained Vet Dentist too, so each time my cats come back to me very happy. What a relief! She also made arrangement for Prednisolone Vet Chew to be delivered to my house for my cat. What a difference from the last clinic. I am very grateful for this clinic and especially Dr. Ruth and her staff. read more
