By far the best experience at a vets office EVER. Not only is the vet here amazing (Dr Hamlin )but so is the staff. Nicole is such a pro at her job of managing but also very patient and is so sweet about answering all my questions I had. I'm a foster (28 fosters over the years) mom and have had to take many fur babies home after their spay/neuter. I recently took home one of my pit bull fosters that got spayed there. Not only did she NOT have to wear a horrible cone because they do all the stitches on the inside but she also had zero issues and was very comfortable. As a foster mom I have seen my fair share of bad spay and neuters where there have been tons complications that are not only stressful for the dogs but for me as well worrying about them. I went into this clinic with my baby TANK who was experiencing crazy symptoms. We weren't sure he was going to make it, but as soon as we walked in he was an immediate priority!!! There aren't words for how grateful I am to Dr. Hamlin, Nicole, and all the staff here. Adopting a senior dog can have its challenges - my dog Anka and I are here quite a bit (seriously). No matter what the situation or how often I'm there, they are always incredibly kind and patient - I have never been treated as an annoyance. Anka is in love with the staff, especially Nicole, and she is at her happiest when we come here (see photo). I believe that alone says a lot! I always feel listened to, cared for, and I trust them completely. My experiences here have been so positive, I transferred my cat's treatment here as well. This is by far the best vet clinic...the service was incredible. We recently adopted a dog and we've been to several vet offices because the foster mom used one vet, we went to the vet near our house and the rescue uses Mercy, so we've been to a few over the last couple of weeks. My cat passed away from the misdiagnosis. Go to a vet that has the best equipment to do X-rays and other scans. This place is nice and clean and staff is friendly but unfortunately it was not a good experience for me. As nervous-Nelly dog parents, Dr. Hamlin is just the cool cucumber vet we need. Whenever we are convinced that our dog is on the verge of death because he has a splinter in his paw, Dr. Hamlin calmly explains that he's perfectly healthy and will live a long life as the spoiled king of our castle. He always spends a great deal of time with us at each visit fully addressing each and every one of our concerns and answering all our silly questions. You can just tell that he is a true animal lover and has a great deal of experience in caring for them. He's also reasonably priced and has a great front office staff. Absolutely the best vet and staff. They took incredibly excellent care of my Mom's cat, who was seriously ill from vomiting. They reacted immediately, put her on IV fluids. By 5pm, she had improved 100%. We ended up boarding her there since my mom left the next day for vacation. They took excellent care of Lily and my daughter and I would drop by to check on her. I don't frequent reviews this bad but for this clinic, I feel like I just have to. Also to be noted, I've had to create a "dummy" yelp account separate from my usual one because I'm afraid otherwise this clinic will not release my dog's records to me... Do not go here. The staff is never prepared it seems. They are either always overworked, or just not educated enough to work there. They used to have an office manager last year, sweet tattooed brunette girl. She seemed to be the only person there who cared and could handle the drama of that place. After she left, its just fallen apart and you don't feel like anyone is actually listening to you or cares about your pet. You can't really blame the employees, the doctor is a mean little man. I've overheard him yell at his staff before on multiple occasions, and make fun of other clients in his office when he thinks you can't hear him in an exam room. Heads up, you CAN hear it. Having the doctor also forget my dog's name and that SHE is a GIRL doesn't really help either. He kept referring to her as a HE. At the end of the appointment most recently, I asked for an updated weight on her. The vet tech confusingly muttered quietly to herself and then had to take her back to be weighed. They hadn't even weighed her. The doctor had dispensed medication for my dog without even knowing her weight.... that can't be right. Now, sure, they probably have her previous weight on file but we hadn't been into the clinic in over 6 months, I feel like that should have been one of the first things done. The place gives you a whole feel of just teetering on the edge of falling apart at any given time. (their staff turnover rate seems to confirm that quite often.) Their current office manager is rude on the phone, and not that much better in person. Its almost as if you are inconveniencing them by being there or trying to make an appointment. I get that their rates are pretty low compared to a lot of clinics around, but I'll happily pay more to have a veterinarian and a staff that like their jobs and know what they are doing... read more

There is a place in Garland named Mercy Animal Clinic where angels from on high guide the hands of the wonderful people that work there. For me it is a place in space and time where miracles do occur with frequency. I am seventy-two years old an old school Earth Scientist, I was thinking "miracles right show me." But today, I witnessed a miracle at the Hands of Dr. Rick Hamlin and his crew. You figure at 72 one does not have many lives or miracles remaining in life. But my male Boxer pup Collin McKinney had one remaining for him. And why not man and dog have walked this Earth together for over 50,000 years; we have co-evolved though the thousands of years, we function as one. My pup Collin had an internal bleed and today he had exploratory surgery. He was on the table for 90 minutes and open from chest to pelvis. His abdominal cavity was full of blood and Collin's life clock was ticking down towards an ending; his life was slipping away tic, tic, tic . . . . The bleeding hemorrhage was found and repaired during the final minutes. Three hours Collin was moved to recovery and I hope he is back with me by Easter, it is the best that I could ever ask for. Honestly, this experience has been horrible. The only reason i'm giving 1 star is because of Dr. Hamlin, hes a good guy but the manager is HORRIBLE to work with.. I came in with my dog Penny and they gave me medicine for her stomach, she was still in pain two days later so I returned to see if their was anything else they could do for her pain. They performed an x-ray, and switched her medicine. They charged me AGAIN for a Dr visit when I had just been here 2 days prior and they told me on the phone their was not going to be a charge again. When I was inside the exam room you could hear the DR and MANAGER talking bad about a client who didn't want to pay $1,000 for a procedure, I understand sometimes these things need to be discussed but I recommend talking after hours or outside, its just not professional. After I paid over $300 my dog was STILL in pain for a whole week. Finally, I called to request the x-rays to see if I could get another vet to take a look at them, the lady promised she would e-mail them to me, after 5 calls she told me her XRAY machine was down. :) how convenient. AND to top it all off, I was charged an extra $35 on my credit card, when I called the manager, she just said she was going to look in to it and I haven't heard from her since. Please save your time and money and go elsewhere. your dog will be in pain if you go here. I recommend going to East Lake Vet. read more

Amazing clinic that always smells great and always always the cleanest! Dr. HAMLIN is one of the best vets in The dfw area! Never have to wait and always a smiling face willing to help. Dr Hamlin and staff work with local rescues as well. Not many vets do that these days. He also does his own emergencies and does major surgeries. He doesn't refer out unless absolutely necessary. Dr. Hamlin and Mercy Animal Clinic are responsible for saving my dog Akayla. She was viciously attacked while being boarded and was very seriously injured. Dr. Hamlin saw her when other clinics would not and spent the time and energy necessary to stitch her back together. Without his kindness, I dont think she would be alive today. He also spent the time to talk me through everything that happened and even went in after hours to check on her and make sure that she was OK. I felt completely helpless being out of town when all of this happened, but felt slightly better knowing that she was being cared for by someone who has a passion for caring for sick animals. Let me start by saying that I had never used Mercy Animal Clinic until today. My dog needed medical attention and they were willing to see her immediately. I have to say that they went above and beyond anything I could have ever expected. Every animal that came in was greeted by name and treated as if it were their own. We have moved numerous times but Dr. Hamlin is the best vet we have ever used. He takes the time to talk to you and alleviate any concerns you have while not going overboard with treatments or procedures. When we weren't living in the area, we called Dr. Hamlin because of a concern we had with our dog and he took the time to talk to us and point us in the right direction. Dr. Hamlin and staff are great! My dog had gotten into a fight and I pull up 10 minutes after closing. The Dr and a couple of the staff were Still there and they gladly opened the door to me. I was in such a panic about Scout and the Doctor assured me they would do all they can. The practice Manager Nicole was so nice in helping Me get care credit to pay for the services. I thought after everything they did it would have costed me well over $1500 at least. Xrays, anesthesia , some injections and the exam itself they discounted for me and I paid $300 . I was so impressed with the whole situation, the clinic was clean the staff was nice and they took such great care of me and Scout! Would recommend this clinic to everyone ! The worst experience. The Practice Manager was a nightmare. She was on the phone griping at some company the whole time. They didn't properly look at my dog, who knows if they even checked him. He had cuts on his shoulders (he was a stray), and they didn't even inspect his body. He had dandruff and they made no recommendations. I had to prompt them to do a heartworm test. Just a terrible clinic. Don't bother with this one - there are better out there. read more
