Last Fall, when I winterized my summer cottage for the cold North Woods winter ahead, I did as I…read morealways did: removed the plugs on the housing for my water pump so that no water would be left in the pump to cause it to freeze and break. However, when I arrived at the cottage two days before the Memorial Day weekend, I was extremely disappointed (a gross understatement) to find that the hole for one of the plugs in the water pump was stripped, so that I could not screw in the plug and get the pump going even after almost four hours of effort in my mosquito infested utility room. In desperation, I called a local plumber, who as it turned out was out of town. His office then referred me to Hedberg. Notwithstanding their busy schedule for the Memorial Day weekend, they managed to come out by noon the next day and not only resolved the problem but replaced the plug with a check valve that does not require me to remove the plug for winterizing (so that no water is left in the pump to freeze and break it over the cold winter). On all fronts, their service was truly outstanding (perhaps heroic would be a better word), and I would strongly recommend them to you.

Another well company that was unable to service us because of distance, referred me to Jelinek Well Drilling. At the time, I didn't know how lucky that referral was going to be. Our first contact was Sarah. She listened to our plight and offered to do what she could to help. Their estimate was comparable to others I received over the phone. Charlie the well driller came out and made the on-site inspection. He recommended a well placement that didn't disturb any of the mature trees on our property. Fortunately for us they were working nearby and could squeeze us into the schedule. The well was drilled Monday. Charlie and Zach worked like a well oiled machine. They left us with water at the well. They returned on Tuesday and connected the new well to our existing plumbing. We had had running water again. What a luxury it is to have hot running water again. And while we knew there was no guarantee, the water quality Charlie found for us was great. We are just waiting for the trenching and permanent hook up. Start to almost completion, we couldn't be more happy with Jelinek. We would recommend them to anyone who needs a well and prefers to work with competent, courteous and straightforward people.

Hookup crew had the right tools & supplies to complete the job while the drill crew proved they know how to knock a hole in the ground! We found iron rich water multiple times down to 50'. But, I was determined from the beginning to drill deeper for water with less turbidity. We ended up at 100' deep. Money WELL spent!

They said to call back at 5:30 am the next morning if the problem didn't clear up. After determining it wasn't a freeze up and figured it was the deep well pump, they left immediately and arrived at our house about 6:00 am. They pulled the pump and pipes, installed new ones and were done by 8:00 am. They were very efficient, considerate, kind and knowledgeable throughout all phases of the installation. Two hours later Paul and Tom came out and explained to me that they couldn't get their truck around the back of my house without someone clearing and leveling the ground. Paul called a friend and in an hour Dale Johnson from Dale Johnson Trucking came with a load of rock and sand and within two hours the land was leveled and cleared. Paul came back and they maneuvered the truck into position and changed out my well pump. I would like to say that every person that I talked to from both Wranik Well Drilling & Septic and Dale Johnson Trucking were professional, helpful and friendly. I am still amazed that I was only without water for one day. Both businesses will have me as customer for life and I will tell anyone that will listen what a positive experience I had. I guess that happens when you work with good people.
