Just got back from a short hop to Richardson's. My wife had a butter-pecan cone, and I had a flight (4 little scoops) of coffee espresso bean, grapenut, chocolate, and strawberry rhubarb. They were all delicious! Rich, but not overly sweet. It's a good thing they're not any closer or we'd be there every day! Everyone working there was very nice and the prices are reasonable! Friendly service in a nice farm setting with homemade ice cream. There is a pavilion in front of the ordering window with picnic tables underneath. There are a variety of ice cream options to choose from and three of the four in my group chose to get flights. I love when places offer flights of things! This flight was four 2oz souffle cups placed in a nice wooden board with a handle; easy for carrying. It also came with the reasonable price tag of $6. The girl working got herself a little confused scooping the flavors on the three different flights so they didn't come out quite right. Also, we were given no directive as to which flavors were which. Both of the aforementioned could be remedied with a simple, small piece of paper with 1 - 4 listing each flavor left to right. This did make the ice cream tasting more interesting trying to figure out exactly what we got. We think one of the flavors wasn't one any of us ordered. I seemed to get all the correct flavors. I tried the blubarb (strawberry rhubarb), checkerberry (wintergreen), Jamaican nutmeg and shakin' bacon. Three of the four flavors I have never seen elsewhere and I've tried a LOT of ice cream places. All of the flavors were decently creamy and tasted good with my top two being the Jamaican nutmeg and checkerberry. The checkerberry was nice and refreshing and would be great as a palate cleanser in between courses. The Jamaican nutmeg had a good amount of real nutmeg flavor and reminded me of winter time. Everyone else in my group enjoyed most of their flavors... There were two, which we're not sure which ones they were, that they were on the fence about. But, as they say, different strokes for different folks. If you're an ice cream lover, an adventurous eater or just looking for a sweet, cool treat, get yourself to Richardson Farm in Boscawen for their homemade ice cream! read more

Pies of all kinds and sizes, you can buy out of their refrigerator case or get them made to order in large sheet an size for a large group get-together. Great ice cream. And they offer "flights". First time I have seen this outside of craft breweries. Choose four flavors and each comes in a little cup, served on a plank, just like a brewery. Lots of flavors to choose from. They might want to offer jumbo flights with six flavors. Fast friendly service, and no affiliation with other Richardson's. Ice cream is made on the premises. They have a great selection of Icecream! So hard to decide! Their menu includes pies which we saw several people buying. There was plenty of space to sit and everything was clean. Richardson's has the best ice cream. Every summer, we vacation in New Hampshire, and we always try to fit in as many visits to Richardson's as possible. The grape nuts ice cream is, hands down, my all-time favorite. The chocolate peppermint stick is a close second. Produce is grown out back. All fruits and veggies are as farm fresh as you can get. The ice cream is made in small batches by the owners. This is the son of the people who own Richardson's Dairy in Dracut MA (Not the one in Middleton!) The ice cream is super creamy. There's nothing worse than ordering a mint chip frappe to find that the chocolate chips don't fit in the straw. You're left disappointed with only a mint frappe and a chocolatey mess at the bottom of your cup. It's a small detail for any ice cream place but it's a crucial one and anyone who's had a mint chip frappe before knows exactly what I'm talking about. Richardson's knows exactly what I'm talking about. The tiny chocolate chips in their mint chip are the perfect size so that they easily fit through the straw and reach your mouth, giving you the full experience of the mint and the chocolate that is mint chip ice cream. Hands down, without a doubt, Richardson's makes the BEST mint chip there is. Mint chip always has been and always will be my favorite flavor so I order it everywhere we go. I couldn't even count the number or different places across the country that I've ordered a mint chip frappe but, Richardson's rises above all others and is the undisputed #1. Combine the best ice cream with the perfect chip size for a straw and I really don't know why you would go anywhere else for ice cream. We really wanted to like this place, but after two unsuccessful, expensive visits, we call Uncle. On our first visit, last year, the woman who waited on us was beyond rude, starting with, "What do you want?!?!" We ordered, despite her behavior, thinking 'Well, maybe this is what some might call a charming NH local?" One of our party ordered a vanilla sundae with caramel sauce. Anyone who orders caramel sauce knows that, when tempered properly, the sauce remains deliciously gooey the entire time. This sauce? It was like rock candy, encasing the ice cream in a fortress of sugar. I drew the short straw, so I brought the sundae back to the window, knocked on the caramel shell with the spoon, and said, "Excuse me, but your caramel sauce isn't tempered properly...?" The woman looked me in the eye ... 'Oh really?" and closed the window on me! This year we tried again, thinking, "Hey... maybe we just caught them on a bad day!" Again, we all ordered. My son ordered a vanilla frappe, I ordered chocolate ice cream, and my husband ordered chocolate chocolate chip ice cream. The frappe should be renamed 'vanilla thick milk', because it was the thinnest frappe we've ever had, and the chocolate ice cream we decided should be renamed 'grey', because not only did it look grey (vs. brown) but it *tasted* grey. No joke. My husband said his should be called 'grey chocolate chip'. Gross. We're done with this place, and while we wish them well, we can't in good conscience not warn other travelers in the hopes that they'll save their money and go elsewhere. read more

The place is nothing fancy, but their sundaes are to die for, but they are out of raspberry sauce for the season. They still have great unique ice cream flavors like ginger snap, cranberry walnut, and mango. Also, you can get apple crisp with ice cream and also buy crisp to take home. Great produce and vegetables which is way under graded - their seconds are better than most firsts. Got a bushel of "seconds graded" tomatoes last year which my friends raved about. Have been going to this farm stand in Boscawen, NH for four years now. Absolutely amazing!!! I refuse to buy commercialized ice cream or baked goods and that's why I come here. Everything they make is made in the kitchen behind the ice cream window, and it's all real ingredients. (Fresh cream ect.) Their ice cream is the best I have ever eaten including my own! And the pies taste just like my grandmother used to make. They are each made individually, and come in 2 different sizes. And the prices are very reasonable!
