My…read morePapa passed away there, and as his family, we will never forget the way we felt during one of the most painful moments of our lives. From our perspective, it felt like the people responsible for caring for him did not truly care about helping him or making every possible effort to give him the treatment and attention he deserved. We felt ignored, frustrated, and helpless while watching someone we loved suffer. There were moments when we desperately wanted answers and wanted to know that everything possible was being done for him, but we did not feel that we received the compassion, communication, or urgency our family needed. Losing someone is devastating enough without feeling like you have to fight to have your loved one heard and cared for. My Papa deserved dignity, compassion, attention, and someone willing to advocate for him. Our family deserved clear communication and reassurance that everything possible was being done. I understand that hospitals and medical staff face difficult situations and that not every outcome can be changed. I also understand that sometimes people pass away despite the best efforts of medical professionals. But that does not erase how our family experienced his care, and it does not erase the questions and pain we have been left with. My Papa was more than a patient. He was a father, grandfather, and a deeply loved member of our family. His life mattered to us, and his final days mattered to us. We will carry the loss of him for the rest of our lives. I sincerely hope Wellstar takes experiences like ours seriously and looks closely at how patients and families are treated during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. No family should leave a hospital feeling like their loved one did not matter.

I've been to two VA hospital in other states and this Facility is by far the worst. It's so bad you can't even get in Contact with the patient advocate. You at either waiting for months for an appointment or in pain in the ER waiting for hours. There is very little compassion within this facility.

I just left a positive review on their podiatry office…read morebut I just wanted to say that I've also been to their MRI office, their pain management office and their emergency room. I was super impressed with their MRI office and their pain management office; extremely professional and quick. My experience at the ER was very good but I wasn't able to get in and out as quickly as I wanted and it was CRAZY cold in the waiting area (many of us were given blankets) and I don't normally mind the cold but this was beyond what I've experienced before. It took me 2 hours to get seen, get prescriptions and get out. That said, I was seen by Dr Mah after only 65 mins which was pretty good for an ER figuring I only had painful sinusitis so I was low in terms of priority. Dr Ma was very nice and told me to wait in the waiting area for my prescription paperwork. The thing that got me was I had to go up to the desk 40 mins after leaving Dr Ma's office to get action on my prescription paperwork. I'm not sure much longer I would've been there if I hadn't done that. Luckily I did so I was out in 2 hours. I had to go back in for a meningitis concern on a Saturday which either meant going back to the VA's ER or a MedStop and I chose the MedStop which was a good choice as I was in/out in 20 mins with prescriptions in hand. I still give the VA hospital (both downtown and uptown locations) a FIVE STAR rating b/c my overall experience has been phenomenal in the past 2.5 years.

This time I saw a female podiatrist who really took time to listen and then have a conversation with me about what she thought would benefit from me. She came up with three different & new ideas to deal with my pain. And I was in and out of the building in about 20 mins. Simply amazing.
