I guess they don't believe me and want to be sure I'm not lying? Maybe there's been a lot of people trying to get fraudulent well visits? It does feel kinda crappy to basically be told they don't believe me. Are they expecting to discover something in her medical record and then block us from scheduling? Because that's the impression they were giving. My problem was not so much this policy as the fact that they had to tell me about it 8 different times. "She can't be seen for a well visit until we get her medical records, but you can make a sick appointment!" Okay so I made a sick appointment and they told me she wasn't sick and that she needs a well visit. Then they agreed to book a well visit based on having seen us for a sick visit but then they immediately called to take it back. Honestly I don't have time for this back and forth it just makes me think this office is gonna be a huge pain to deal with.

I was super impressed with their MRI office and their pain management office; extremely professional and quick. My experience at the ER was very good but I wasn't able to get in and out as quickly as I wanted and it was CRAZY cold in the waiting area (many of us were given blankets) and I don't normally mind the cold but this was beyond what I've experienced before. It took me 2 hours to get seen, get prescriptions and get out. That said, I was seen by Dr Mah after only 65 mins which was pretty good for an ER figuring I only had painful sinusitis so I was low in terms of priority. Dr Ma was very nice and told me to wait in the waiting area for my prescription paperwork. The thing that got me was I had to go up to the desk 40 mins after leaving Dr Ma's office to get action on my prescription paperwork. I'm not sure much longer I would've been there if I hadn't done that. Luckily I did so I was out in 2 hours. I had to go back in for a meningitis concern on a Saturday which either meant going back to the VA's ER or a MedStop and I chose the MedStop which was a good choice as I was in/out in 20 mins with prescriptions in hand. I still give the VA hospital (both downtown and uptown locations) a FIVE STAR rating b/c my overall experience has been phenomenal in the past 2.5 years.

When I arrived for the appointment, the wait was not long at all. I love Dr. Black, and the staff was very friendly and professional. Dr. Black made me feel very comfortable. Do yourself a favor and just call AU health's central appointment line. The staff can't make appointments without new patient forms filled out. And they can't expedite new patient appointments based on patient needs. There is no webform and no way to submit the form via a modern interface like email. Instead you have to go though their disastrously implemented new patient portal (separate from their patient portal that is accessible though the website) doesn't seem to transmit jpegs or pdfs despite showing them in the sent folder. The person on the phone can't tell you if your forms went through on their garbage messaging system. Even if they do go through, the doctor has to 'accept' you. There is no time expectation for this step, it takes as long as it takes, could be weeks. Is this an exclusive club or a primary care doctor? Each time I call they tell me my expected wait for my new patient appointment is longer, from 2 weeks the first time I called and attempted to submit the form to 4-6 weeks today. There were too many red flags, I just couldn't believe this complete lack of professionalism and poor service. Thank goodness I called the AU central line today, they gave me an new patient primarily care appointment two days from now. If I had started with AU I could have avoided hours of stress and headaches and some urgent care and ER visits. Don't be fooled!
