I wanna say if not a year or more and I won't say this has been building up, but I The final straw. This gynecologist normally she is similar to a roadrunner. She talks really really fast and she talks over you and you will have to let her know that she is doing it because sometimes it seems as though she is not acknowledging it or she's just in her train of thought so that kind of ticked me off when I first initially met her but ultimately This is the reason why I'm leaving this practice. I chose to share my story simply because I want minorities women of color and just women overall truthfully to make sure you're very conscious about what your physicians are saying to you or at you rather and pay attention to the signs. For some background, I am a woman that has been experiencing pain in my lower abdomen and back, experiencing ovarian cyst, some filled with blood, and some filled with fluid. Due to This constant issue there have beenan untold number of times I've been in pain in reference to gynecological issues, unsure if it is endometriosis ,pcos etc. But the doctor listed above stated that there is no way for her to figure out if it is endometriosis or just PCOS or if it if I just have adrenal cyst, the only solution that she offered me was to get on the IUD specifically morena. Now this is not been the only time that she has recommended using an IUD as it would best work with the medication's that I'm also currently on to handle other matters, but I was cautious about it due to the fact that my body seems to be one of those types of bodies that experiences the horrible side effects and if not most things don't work for me. So today when I knew she would probably re-approach it as I'm going in for probably the 15th vaginal ultrasound in her not seeing anything or her seeing too small assist for them to do anything about it XYNZ she goes about this the topic of choosing an IUD and so this time I indulge her and I ask more about it and I asked what her knowledge is about it in reference to me being an African-American female. What I thought was going to be an intellectual in-depth discussion and I was going to gain further knowledge from speaking with her mind you yes for a side note she is a Caucasian lady, but has treated me decently so I thought we were above what I just experienced. during this conversation, she is the type to cut you off if she has something to say and whatever and partially, I didn't mind it due to the fact that I can be like that too when I either don't take my medications or I'm stemming really bad at that current point in time but during this conversation, she obviously saw that I was .trying to make a very conscious decision about putting something inside of my body that I don't really have much faith in and you seem to only be able to do just that one thing to help subside the symptoms so yes, I'm going to ask more questions. so what should've been a conversation of gaining more knowledge so that I can make a better decision for myself. She goes on to say oh I'm not sure about the recent studies in it. It's been around for 40 years and it's been proven to be very effective and I'm asking her I said OK but what is the real statistics on African-American females at my age or maybe slightly older or even younger? Who get this IUD and what kind of problems do they have if they have symptoms like mine? She then proceeds to tell me that she doesn't know. She just knows that it's been around for about 40 years and so on and so forth and I said well that's not very comforting for me to even consider putting it inside of my body because I would think that you would keep up with the statistics for African-American females, and apparently that set her off. She felt insulted that I insulted her intelligence, and I questioned her as a doctor not that I stood up for myself, and I was trying to understand exactly what she was trying to get me to understand, but she felt undermined essentially. so when I was trying to continue the conversation, she kept trying to cut me off. She got up and she basically stormed out of the room because I said "wow that's rude of you to just walk off while we're talking " she responds : no, what's rude of you is to question and question my education and what I actually look at and things like that. Me:I said why wouldn't I if you just told me you have no idea about the statistics that that is you telling me that you do not understand or you don't know or not even a that's a good question. The staff who I've encountered have been pleasant and super helpful. They even reached out to my old doctor and hospital in Washington state to get all of my records as this facility does not use epic (mychart). I saw Dr. Cassidy today and she was absolutely fantastic. She took the time to get to know me and listened to any and all concerns I had. She has a great bedside manner and thoroughly explained what she was doing. While no one really likes the annual exam process, she made me feel very comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Cassidy and the team at Virginia Women's center.

When you may be anxious on delivery day; she is calm and ready to bring your little bundle of joy into the world. After having my children; I still go to see her for my yearly check-up's. The lack of care is extremely disappointing. I had a procedure in this office; again, I went here because they were listed as in my network. To my surprise, this office uses a different lab and sent it to a separate Doctor to review my results. Now this Doctor who I have not seen and did not know about was not in-network with my insurance. Now I have received a $530 bill in the middle of a pandemic and no explanation as to why it was sent to someone my insurance didn't cover. The receptionist handled my phone call poorly, told me I needed to speak to billing. I asked her why I would talk to them when it was their office that failed. She then placed me on hold without telling me, which I was stuck on for 15 minutes, just to be told, "Well, did you ask what lab they were sending it to?" I am a new patient, and I assumed that this was taken care of in their office, with their lab with the Doctor that I had been seeing. If they had cared, they would have taken a better look at my insurance and sent it to the correct one since there are apparently multiple. The receptionist was busy trying to rush me off the phone at this point and told me I would receive a call from a manager and no surprise to me I have not heard from anyone. Another note I would like to make, they made a surgical appointment for me without my consent, not even a phone call other than the one I got to "confirm" the surgery. Fixing that was a nightmare because of their hours, not being able to leave a voicemail, and no email. Never have I been to an office where they just make your appointment for you without calling/asking what your schedule is, especially for surgery! I understand I am just one patient out of the many they see, but this is unacceptable. I want to stress that anyone thinking of making an appointment even though it says they are in your network make sure you ask the "correct" questions.

He has amazing bedside manner and is an innovator in the field using laparoscopic and robotic surgery. I had a very complex issue that had to be resolved surgically. Dr. Prillaman expertly and warmly walked me and my family through the procedure and positive prognosis. The day of surgery presented a more challenging case than expected and he still handled it professionally and promptly, acting quickly in surgery to do what was best for me. Most of all, his expert hand was able to completely resolve the issue without comprising my reproductive health. I trust him wholeheartedly to care for me and to be in charge of delivering my children when the day comes.

It took 40 minutes for them to move me to the back. And it only happened after the nurse was approached by the ultrasound technician and asked why I was still sitting in the hall. I get back in the room and wait another 30 to 49 minutes. I then left, as my time is more valuable then to be waiting with no updates, disclosures or even initial care. It was unprofessional, and I was very disappointed. They have to do better. The lack of diversity is apparent as well as the lack of professionalism.

Medical Care Warning -- My Experience with Dr. Paoloni…read more I am sharing this review based on documentation and my own medical records. I am not currently pursuing a lawsuit, but I reserve the right to do so. I am not seeking compensation, though I did request a refund for services that I believe -- based on known risk factors and medication interactions -- should not have been recommended without additional safeguards. Pregnancy Care - 2013 I was under Dr. Paoloni's care during my pregnancy in 2013. While things seemed routine early on, the final weeks became frightening -- and, in hindsight, may have been preventable. My blood pressure rose from 109/70 to 154/111 I gained nearly 40 pounds in under four months Proteinuria (1+ positive) was documented multiple times These are classic signs of preeclampsia, yet I was: Not warned about the risks Not placed under additional monitoring Not advised on symptoms to watch for At my 9/27 appointment, I was told to drive myself to the hospital for a "pre-E evaluation" -- despite dangerously high blood pressure. No transport was offered. I was alone and unaware I had entered a medical crisis. Within a week, I developed severe eclampsia, underwent an emergency C-section at 34 weeks, and my baby was taken to the NICU. I was unable to see or hold him for over 24 hours due to magnesium sulfate treatment and complications. Semaglutide + Lexapro - 2024 In 2024, I was again a patient -- now at River City OB/GYN, under Dr. Paoloni's supervision. I was already prescribed Lexapro 40mg daily (twice the FDA-approved max). That dosage was documented in my chart. After reviewing my medications, his office recommended Semaglutide injections for weight loss. The first dose was administered by his nurse, and the rest were self-administered -- all under Dr. Paoloni's supervision, as noted in my records. Why this is concerning: Lexapro (an SSRI) increases serotonin Semaglutide (GLP-1) also affects serotonin pathways Combined, they increase the risk of serotonin toxicity Shortly after my first injection, I reported dizziness and dry mouth -- early signs of serotonin overload. No medication review occurred. No referral or pause in treatment. I was never warned about this risk, despite clear documentation that I was on high-dose Lexapro. Refund, NDA, and Silencing Attempt After raising concerns, I was offered a $1,000 refund -- but only if I signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that would: Waive all legal and regulatory rights Prevent me from speaking about my experience -- publicly or privately I declined. I expressed concern about the NDA's scope. In response, Dr. Paoloni referred communication to his legal counsel, and no revisions were offered. To be transparent: Dr. Paoloni has repeatedly stated, both directly and through legal counsel, that he believes he followed the standard of care in my case. I respectfully disagree -- and my review is based on documentation, medical records, and my lived experience.
