Rick is an excellent Handyman. He is upfront with what he can do, and will guide you to do some of your own solutions (ours was fixing our kitchen faucet and dishwasher) at no cost to us. He is very knowledgeable and can either chat you up as he works or is totally content to get the work done while you are doing the rest of your chores/errands/work. Totally trustworthy and reliable. Rick is a true gentleman and a class act. At a time when it's very difficult to get someone on the phone, he answered my call while on another job. Some siding had come detached from my house on a very windy day and would have gotten a lot worse if it wasn't reattached quickly. After exchanging a few texts he told me that he wouldn't be able to do the job himself but reached out to a friend who was able to be at my house within about 20 minutes and did a very nice professional job at a fair price. This is a tough review to leave because I honestly really liked Rick as a human being. He is a kind man who you can have a great conversation with. It was a struggle working with Rick over his 3+ weeks with us. We were told the project would be done in 4 days. Some setbacks were no fault of Rick's (drywall taking an extra day to dry in the basement). Others were due to him not coming for many days at a time. There was miscommunication with what was supposed to be done. By the end of the project we were still left with more to do. We had to go out and hire another handyman to finish the job. By the end we were ready to see Rick go as he had well overstayed his welcome. I honestly believe that he would have done a better job with a small, more well defined project. One that would only take a few hours... This job was too large and there were too many abstracts. My one piece of advice is to iron out a price and specific expectations before he begins work. We had just gotten over a flood to our basement and this became an incredibly frustrating process for my family and me. I would not recommend for handyman work, but would recommend to have a beer with. read more

Rick didn't do a job for me, but he still helped me out. I had contacted him via text message, after finding him on Yelp, to get a quote for a handyman job in my house. After letting me know that he doesn't do the kind of job I needed, he asked me several questions over text, and then called me to give me some info about what would be needed to complete my job, and a good suggestion on exactly what product to buy to get the same functionality for cheaper. I needed to replace a toilet in a bathroom and I was hoping to simply replace the existing toilet with a new one from the same manufacturer. But I could not find an exact replacement anywhere on the Internet nor was I able to find a toilet from any manufacturer with the same (or even near) the same color. I felt frustrated, for I really wanted to keep the ambiance of the bathroom the same and was most reluctant to purchase a new one of a different color or shade. Rick Dilley came to the house, took pictures and then was able to determine the exact color by showing these pictures to suppliers who were in business when the original toilet was bought and who recognized this now-uncommon color. With this information, we were able to refine our search and eventually found a supplier who ordered a toilet of the very same color from a different manufacture. Without Rick initiating this process, I would never have been so satisfied as I am now. Then, when it came to installation time and it was discovered how the previous installer jury-rigged his work which brought about the eventual downfall of the existing toilet, Rick set out to find the root cause of the problem (which was not readily apparent) and resolved it in a most reasonable and efficient use of time. I would be very willing to speak in unconditional terms about the quality of Rick Dilley's work and especially his attitude towards doing it right and his interpersonal skills which made dealing with him a pleasure. I've used Yelp for a while, but have never written a review until now. I found Rick by searching for a Handyman Service in my area. I was really hesitant at first because there were only a couple of reviews. When that's the case, I always have second thoughts....like are these friends or family of the owner? I took a chance anyway, and was very pleasantly surprised. Rick answered my call on the first try, even though he was at the hospital dealing with a family medical emergency. Good sign #1....above and beyond the call of duty, as they say. Rick agreed to come by my house that evening. I had a nasty clog in the kitchen drain line. Good sign #2....he even accommodated my work schedule and told me to just call when I was almost home. Rick spent almost 1 1/2 hours trying various methods to unclog the line, but nothing worked. He was honest enough to admit that the work was beyond the scope of what he could do. He called a Master Plumber that he knew, but when I told him there's one that lives a few blocks from me, he had me call and spoke with him on the phone to explain what he did, and what he thought the problem was. To top it off, Rick said that because he couldn't actually fix the problem, he would only charge me a nominal fee, which was VERY reasonable. The plumber did fix the problem, but it was a major job that took him over 3 hours to complete (not something a handyman could do). All in all, I found Rick to be personable, professional, and very honest. Will definitely use and recommend his services in the future. read more
