Rick Gazipura is a very trustworthy, and compassionate attorney. The first time I met him, I was there for my son, who had recently received a DUI on a moped/scooter in Santa Cruz. My son was intimidated with the justice system, and wanted me to meet with him and Rick. Rick thoroughly explained what we were up against. He said that there was a slight chance he might be able to get off, maybe with a wet/reckless, but there was a long road ahead. He gave us very good advice and never pressured us to go with him. He didn't charge us for the consultation even though we took more of his time than he had offered for free. Rick relieved some of my sons anxiety by telling my son that he didn't have to show up for the court hearing, he would take care of it, and could keep working. He also explained of the importance of working with the DMV as well as the court to minimize the length of the loss of his license. It wasn't going to be cheap, but sounded like a better option than going it alone or with a Public Defender. Many of my sons friends told him not to fight it and he would be wasting his money on an attorney. We decided to go with Rick. This was the best decision we could have ever made. Rick followed through with everything he stated and kept us updated throughout the whole process. My son never attended court. With all of the court delays and DMV pressure my son would have lost his license for months on end. Instead Rick kept everything in check. He made sure we never missed an important date. Rick belies the old adage that the worst people on earth either work for the DMV or are lawyers. In his case, far from it. He is knowledgeable, friendly and hardworking and more than other lawyers, he really does his homework. He will let you make decisions in your own case, but first make sure that he, and by extension you, are completely informed about the pros and cons of any actions you might take in your case and their ramifications. For me specifically, he was able to take a pretty cut and dry multiple felony case and impressively get all the charges dropped on the constitutional basis that it was a illegal search and seizure. When the first judge disagreed with his argument he filed a motion to reargue the case in front of another judge. In the time leading up to this second court date he was almost magically able to get not just the judge to agree with his arguments, but the DAs office too. All the charges were dismissed and just a week later he's in the process of getting all my property back from holding. Yes Rick is savvy, smart and a well trained lawyer, but it was his diligence and dedication to his clients that kept him persistently focused on the details of the case making his arguments in court excellent. Furthermore his commitment to his clients was in my case, clearly displayed by his willingness to file a motion to make his arguments to a second judge (he had already been paid at this point and could have given up and said there's nothing more he could do.) However, because of this willingness to support me until the very end and because of the cleverness of his arguments it was during this second hearing that the prosecutor broke ranks and concurred with Rick, leading the judge to do so as well. Many defense attorneys would not have gone this extra mile, but because of Rick the 3+ felonies I was charged with are now completely dismissed and Rick is hastily obtaining my property. Unless you want a big wet kiss from the judge, things don't EVER get better than this. I would recommend Rick to anyone. read more
